  1. This months Bassmaster has a how-to tip on changing the action of a rod by using duct tape between guides. Anyone ever try this? Also, it talks about changing "action" from M to MH, but that sounds like "power" not "action". (i.e. Fast, XF, Mod vs. H, MH, M, ML). Sounds like confusion in terms.
  2. This is another good one to use and my new favorite. I use it with other paddletails too. http://www.***.com/Owner_Weighted_Beast_Hook_w_Twistlock/descpage-OWBWT.html
  3. Your Citica will be fine. Thats what I use on my St Croix Premier, 6'6" Med/Mod crankbait (graphite) rod. Will throw a Minus 1 a mile.
  4. Clark W Lowrider w/E7, 10lb Floro.
  5. I use an E7 for those apps. Jerkbait too. If you feel it is too slow you can get replacement gears for 7 speed. There are few threads about that here.
  6. Over the winter I picked up a 6'6" med/mod St Croix Premier Crankbait rod (graphite) and put an E7 on it. Use it for shallow cranks and jerkbait. Launches a minus 1 a mile. This morning from my kayak I got 4 pickeral on it with the minus 1. Strong enough to pull those in and not throw the hooks. Using 12lb CX.
  7. For JB fishing I use my treble hook set up. St Croix Premier Crankbait (Graphite) 6'6" Med/Mod w Citica E, 12lb CX.
  8. I too am also using an E7 on a Clark W Lowrider for weightless. Tracker....what is your budget?
  9. Thats kind of what I am saying. My 7'MH Triumph is the same rod spec as the 7'MH Mojo that says Spinnerbait on it. The retail diff is $30. St Croix is getting fat on Mojo, and just doing low profit turns on the Triumph. I say good for them if we keep buying it. As far as the no foregrip thing....hey just having a little fun during the freeze with a rod that was collecting dust. I'm not trying to be too serious here.
  10. With a rod like the Triumph, I am not trying to claim any extra sensitivity. It was a fun project on a rod that got no use and now it will. It does seem to me that St Croix is making a whole lot more money on the Mojo than the Triumph based on the MSRP. Add a little bling, some technique specific wording, and charge $100 instead of $70. Just saying...
  11. when I took the foregrip off, there was a layer of glue on the blank. I was carefull to sand off the glue without sanding into the blank. same w the bottom cork.
  12. Here is the Triumph. I think I will sand down some more this weekend. Remember...you can always take some off, you cant take some on! This rod will actually get some use this year. I think I cought about 5 fish on it last year.
  13. Nice job. I just did one too, a St Croix Triumph, 7'MH BC. Does that make it a Mojo? LOL ;D I will post a pic soon.
  14. Look to see if Cabelas still has the Prodigy on sale. Same reel, maybe one bearing less, but same specs. They did have it down to 69 in LH and Tierra still at 129. Not sure if still at 69. If still at 69 then its a no brainer. I have the TDA and Prodigy, really no diff.
