  1. I also have an Apex 100 Angler. It is pretty close to the one you are looking at. Is it the best kayak in the world, no. It is the most fashionable kayak, no. Will it get you hot babes, probably not. Will it get you on the water, yes. The fish will not rub their nose at you because of you boat. If it is what you can afford then go for it and enjoy it. I would suggest you upgrade the seat. I bought a tall backrest padded seat off ebay for 50 bucks. It made a big difference. I also added some pad eyes and a 6" dry bag hatch but yours already has those. I have since upgraded to a Ride 135 but my kids use the Apex 100. The Apex 100 is light and easier to get places that a larger kayak would be a chore.
  2. I just purchased a BPS A-M24. It is made by Onyx, just embroidered with the BPS logo. It is on sale right now for 109.99. It is automatic, manual with CO2 and has a manual inflation tube. The re-arm kit is about 24 bucks but I have found it online for as low as 14. I can not go off in the rain unless you are standing on your head or you pull the manual cord. The water has to get up under the nylon shell and up and into the clear protector and then up to the dissolvable pill. I do not know of any rain going up and pooling while defying gravity.
  3. I will be there with my 10 year old son on Sunday. Maybe I can get him a litle excited about going fishing with dad this year.
  4. BPS has the A/M-24 inflatable pfd on sale for 109.99. I just picked one up a few days ago. It is actually branded BPS but is made by Onyx. http://www.basspro.com/Bass-Pro-Shops-Auto/Manual-Inflatable-Life-Vest/product/11090805012133/
  5. My most terrifying fishing moment was back in 1992 or so. It was a summer day and a friend and I went and rented a small 12' tin boat with a small outboard at the marina to do some fluke fishing. Well, I caught a fish. I reel the thing in and it is some red colored alien looking animal with wings. Once in the boat it started making grunting noises. I had no idea what it was and was terrified. I started beating the thing with an oar. I think I had to change my underwear after that. It turns out it was just a Sea Robin. I must have looked like a complete idiot. I laugh about it now but was so scared that day.
  6. I like it a lot but there is room for improvement. I have 3 issues with it. 1. If I position the holster in my kidney area, like in the commercial, the muzzle wears a hole in my pants just above the rear pocket. I have had this happen on Levis, 5.11s and wranglers. So I have to keep it on my side, the slightest bit to the rear and it wears on the pants when sitting down. I contact Crossbreed about this and they told me then have never heard of this and asked for pictures. We exchanged some emails but in the end communications ceased and I just moved the holster to the side instead of the 4 - 5 o'clock position I preferred it in. 2. Because of the IWB design and my belt keeping the holster tight against my waist the leather that sits above the rear of the slide when holstered has curved outward and somewhat covers the rear of the slide. This does not effect drawing the weapon but it does hamper re-holstering. 3. The kydex has cracked in the upper corner right where is curves away from the leather to wrap around the gun. I have had the holster replaced once already under the lifetime warranty. The new one has cracked again and I have to contact Crossbreed again. The 1st warranty return was a pleasant experience but I do not yet know if they will replace it again. The return process required me sending in the old one and then they shipped a new one. I had to use a conventional holster in the interim. Not a big deal, just an inconvenience but I understand why. Customer service has been good in reference to the replacement. Customer service started out well in reference to the issue of the wear on my pants but then abruptly ceased. Would I recommend a Crossbreed to a friend? Yes I would but I would explain what I have told you guys here as an honest review. While at the Great American Outdoor Show last week I spoke with Joe Piazza from Viper Holsters. They have an IWB holster design that I was intrigued about. It was a full wrap around kydex holster that was secured to a leather backing. This design seems like it would eliminated the kydex cracking issue I am experiencing since it eliminated the stress between the kydex and leather.
  7. Sig P226 .40 DAO in a Crossbreed IWB 12 rounds of Speer Gold Dot hollow points.
  8. Aluminum would be lighter than fiberglass?
  9. I need to pick up a canoe for the local waters. Most are all car top and hand launch, no boat trailers. I was thinking of a 15' canoe as I would be fishing solo most of the time. But now I am thinking about a 17' to take 2 of my kids with me. Weight is always an issue as I will be topping it onto my Suburban solo. I am looking at mainly fiberglass used canoes.
