  1. As far as saltwater, your probably moving to one of the best fishing areas in the state, Boca Grande has some of the best Tarpon fishing in the world, the mouth of the Caloosahatchee river offers great Red Fish, sea trout fishing and Snook, your probably not going to be doing a lot of freshwater fishing once you get into all that right in your own back yard, but the further east you go in the river it turns fresh. Your about an hours drive from Clewiston (maybe more) on the shore Lake Okeechobee.
  2. I was up on the North end Saturday and Sunday, like bocabasser said, places I have been watching fields of grass grow and could not get to for 3 years are now flooded with water, I drove between Codys Cove and Kings Bar and couldnt believe it, crystal clear water with miles of pencil grass, and Kissimmee grass teaming with bait fish and life. When low this lake fish's like a mill pond with only several areas holding fish, packed with anglers, finally hundreds of places will now be accessible. Okeechobee will once again be the premier lake in the sunshine state.
  3. http://my.sfwmd.gov/sfwmd/common/images/weather/rt/rt_L.OKEE.html Heres Okeechobee's level it has risen a foot and a half so far and that will go up another half of foot by tomorrow. We needed it bad, but I hope everyone is all right.
  4. The good news about Fay. http://my.sfwmd.gov/sfwmd/common/images/weather/rt/rt_L.OKEE.html
  5. Its more of a supply and parts place rather then a tackle shop, and the small amount of tackle they have is salt water stuff, but sometimes its places like that you find those deals. I buy my rope, fiberglass, tarps etcc.
  6. Good point. (No pun intended)
  7. I never in my wildest dreams thought it would eat the d**n thing, and if it did I knew it would spit it out, like it did. Understand me now?
  8. Its the West Marine in Hollywood, the only problem is my Buddys were invading the place after I put the smoke signal out, there may not be any left. 3350 N 28 Terr.
  9. "Hopeless-Absolutly not what I was saying. I have never even seen ,tried,or taken it apart to see what was in it. In order for a fish to eat it or even to hold on to it longer-it must have some sort of food value to it." I used to keep a small bass in an aquarium, when I ran out of minnows and he was really hungrey I could drop a plastic worm in the tank and he woulod engulf the worm, the second it hit the water,he would eventually spit it out but not for awhile, it surprised me as to how long he held it, many times I would think he ate it and ws going to dye only to find it floating the next day.
  10. Man I remember when Anise was in all of the attractants, they always said it attracted bass. I guess we never checked on who "THEY" were
  11. I was in a local West Marine today, they had a bargain bucket with a bunch of Falcon rods marked at 30 dollars, so I said you cant beat that, I took it up top the counter and she rings it up for 16 dollars, I tell her Miss I think you made a mistake its 30 dollars, her reply was no its 50% off that. Naturally I went back and got 2 more,2 of the 6'10 Grass Rod heavy Action, and the Lizard Dragger Med Heavy 6'6. for 50 dollars I think I paid 100 dollars for the lizard dragger years back. I put them next to the other 3000 rods i have 8-)
  12. Sounds like a lot of weather, must have turned them off.
  13. Obviously tallydude doesn't realize that I was kidding around. And as far as community colleges theres a bunch of good schools starting in south Florida all the way up to the panhandle. For what you do you may find more work down south in an urban area. They eat a lot fried chicken in Tallahassee, and they aren't big on exercise.
  14. Don't let Roseangler get you rapped up in petty interstate school rivalries. Both UF and FSU stink go to University of Miami. ;D
  15. Man thee are some serious hooks for a finesse bait, I use a 2/0 or 3/0 sprout regular worm hook. Texas style with a 1/32 ounce screw in weight.
  16. Do you have a boat? If you do your about an hour from the south side of Okeechobee, lake Ida ans Osborn are a short trip north, loxahatchee reserve has some great fishing in the spring with lo water. If not theres 100s of mile of canals throughout Palm beach and Broward county, for Peacock its best to fish south Broward or Dade. Alan Zarhemba is an excellent Peacock guide who specializes in the Urban canals throughout the area.
  17. I would say two things, the bass weighs about 2 lbs, and you need some new sneakers.
  18. Some great fishing in that area, I used to live in Alachua, and I would drive there to fish.
  19. What kind of reals are those?
  20. Nice, I used to go to Rodman through Interlachen years ago, is that spring water fountain still on the way to the ramp?
  21. I guarantee that fish will gain weight throughout the years. And I don't mean in the water.
  22. Sorry but I have to agree. and lose those glasses.
  23. What did you use a 9 Iron? I used to build homes on a large development down here in the 70s, before they built the golf coursed i would arrive at 5 am and get in a couple of hours every morning. I caught more fish on that Golf course. Your lucky they let you fish there.
  24. Thats is cool, thanks to both of you, when you get back you have an Okeechobee guided trip waiting, my treat.
  25. Absolutely, Iv been saying that for years. instead of following the spawn.
