  1. I was able to meet and fish with FishinDaddy. A very cool guy as well as a good fisherman. Thanks for the ride FishinDaddy!! And thanks to the UBFRG!!
  2. I agree with the above, NIX the bass fishing over there. Go salty, dawg. get it Salty Dog ;D
  3. Last weekend April 11 there was a big spawn on Lake Okeechobee, we must have caught 25 bucks as well as 2 5lbers off beds sight fishing. I cant speak for north Florida but from Orlando down the bass are not done yet, too many cold fronts have knocked them back, I think you may see at least 2 more spawns. The strongest one is always the end of May at Okeechobee. Fish hard the big ones will come. Dink next time your out there, those fish your flipping out of the bull rushes, Ill bet theres a bed at the stems of those clumps, check it out.
  4. I had a 4lb pounder jump in my boat once and lots of smaller ones, when flipping the everglades canals its common, if your tight up against the bank you kind of trap them and they'll jump right in.
  5. I know this wont help but I was there once many years ago, I pulled out of the ramp and eased over to some cypress trees and started throwing white Dalton Special I caught about 15 nice chunks, nothing huge just nice 2lb keepers. And they were jumping all over that thing. Never been back since, its a beautiful lake.
  6. With the exception of fishing in a womans wedding dress and vale, I'm pretty much normal.
  7. By the way, I don't know how normal I am, but Ill try.
  8. I could possibly do that. The only thing is I couldnt pre fish with you on the 18, I'm fishing a tournament in Clewiston. I could be at camp mack in the AM. Ill send you my number, give me a call.
  9. I got a buddy thats been going out to the holes and slaying them, he said its getting harder and harder to get to them with the water dropping.
  10. Got ya, I like to throw spinner baits or traps in the summer, in the morning, then I pitch craws back in the grass.
  11. Ahh the joys of owning a boat. I didnt know Procraft made Aluminums, that a nice little rig.
  12. Well? How did it go?
  13. Iv never heard of grass bowls, do you mean a line of kissimmee grass or hydrilla patch's, or clearings inside kissimmee grass?
  14. Wrong Number? No Bill at that number.
  15. Ill call you later, I may be of some help.
  16. Rodman Reservoir has a large stump field, The St Johns River has a lot of cypress trees along the edge.
  17. I just got back from a two day, my partner went up a week ago and slayed them in the outside reeds pitching jigs on the north end. We go out the next week low and behold the fish are gone. The first day of the tourney everyone that fished inside caught good fish, we moved in the second day and caught fish all day but to little to late. The winner had a two day total of 40 something pounds. This was Friday and Saturday. The big fish moved inside the first island shallow and were hitting toads and flapping shads. One mistake we made was sticking to our pattern the first day too long, I would pitch the reeds and if their in there you'll get bit right away, jump around to the outside points don't spend a lot of time on one patch, if you cant find fish move shallow and start throwing frogs,Flukes,or whatever you like in shallow water. Theres also some nice fish in the pads that are east of Istapoka Park, if you come out of the park channel and turn east go to the end (Northeast side of the lake) you'll see some pad fields, second place came out there, we caught a lot of fish there ourselves the second day but found it too late, we nailed a 4lber, Flapping shads through the pads, its hard fishing you'll lose some fish, so use a broom stick and braid. Hope this helps good luck.
  18. We my as well just post every lake in Florida, but has anyone been? Has to be dropping. I got a small club 2 dayer next weekend, I haven't been there in years.
  19. A club from down here fished there last weekend, the winner caught a 10 the first day and an 11 the next, how would you like those in a tourney.
  20. Its a bowl, waters been dropping probably bringing the fish out towards the edges, its a smaller lake easy to put something together at times, and then like all Florida Lakes it can send you home crying. Ill be at Istapoka next weekend( 03-20-21-2009) right up the road a bit.
  21. I wish they had this when I was of college age.
  22. I cant begin to tell you how many big fish I have caught on a jig and pig in Florida, from the canals in the Everglades to the lakes of North Florida. For the very reason your reading here, not many people throw them. Back when we used to eat fish, the bellys would always be full of crawdads. Especially in the canals.
  23. I dont know about bank fishing but Talquin was one beautiful lake, and I smoke em the first and only time I went there.
  24. I have been at the ramps during all the big tournaments and a crowd isn't an issue, and if your worried you can drive down to the Bell Glade ramp by Slims Fishcamp, you can fish for miles with no pressure from crowds no matter what time of year.
  25. A little off topic but..... All the above topics discussed are the reason I keep going back to local team trails, with a partner that has a boat and pre fishs. I'm lucky enough to have a home lake that hosts many competitive trails that are well run, and I enjoy the team concept along with not having to fish with a stranger. We all know getting a bad draw can work against both the boater or the non boater and it makes for a long day, as of late I enjoy my time on the water too much to be fishing with someone I don't really jive with. Do you guys Pre fish with your non boater? And if so have you ever had a problem with him bringing his draw to fish you found the prior day, or are they considered fish that both of you found?
