  1. I am in pretty much disagreement that anyone can say for sure there will be no spawn, depends on the weather, early cold snaps lots of rain cooling the water, water levels, a large shad spawn in the summer causing the fish to gorge more then usual will put them to spawn early. Theres always a possibility of an early run of spawning fish in Florida. Is the norm no, but certainly possible, last year we had a spawn in late September early October on Okeechobee. I would defiantly check shallow. The fish don't read the same books we do.
  2. Probably my least favorite lake in Florida. Look for those sunk bails of hay and structure the G&F put out there.
  3. Okeechobee has been red hot in the AM as has Lox. Water levels have risen to the point were safe navigation can be had, even for a new comer. find an outside grass line at dawn and listen for busting shad, J&S is close to you or OkeeTanti, try spinner baits and go deep as the sun comes up. Good luck.
  4. Man I was just up there on business, I would have jumped on your boat In a minute,.
  5. February to June was red hot we were catching large bags, pitching craws on the deeper outside reed line, then moving in with frogs if the were chasing. I haven't been back in a month. I would look for some deep water Hydrilla if I were to be fishing it now. Try down south theres usually some nice giant pods of grass off those trees.
  6. Anyone else love checking out bait shops when your away. I always find a little different stuff from local lure makers. Iv been up on the panhandle of Florida this week and found some killer Jigs. Shakey heads. and top water Flappin Shad type baits that they dont sell down my way.
  7. Cap. Kip Grunlo is a great guide and great guy, we fished a trail together years back and had a blast.
  8. I won our tournament yesterday with 16lbs and big fish, a hair under 6, If you were anywhere by the shoal you probably saw us running around like crazy.
  9. Its not, I'm retiring next year and moving to the area, I'm friends with the current Sheriff of the adjacent county, I'm going to see if i can get it going again.
  10. Ill be up there, I'm fishing out of my partners boat, a purple Stroker you cant miss it, its got a 300 Optimax, If you see it come on by and say hi. We go out of Clewiston Saturday safe light. Wasn't Bassbusters last week? I heard hardly any boats showed up.
  11. I used to fish that, it was a good time, now that the lakes up things will start back up, that 3 year drought hurt a lot of tournaments.
  12. I think that Ritta bite is done, I found them early in May, before the masses came, I had some great days out there this year.
  13. It was either the Police Olympics that are held in different parts of the state and Okeechobee is used for most regions for the bass fishing, or the Sheriffs Officer used to hold an annual Tourny that was opened to fire fighters, but stopped a few years back. Did they have a Bar B Q after the tourny and have raffles in the big aluminum building? If so that was the Sheriffs Office Tourny. They just had the Olympic one last month. Theres also an International Police and Fire games but that held at TOHO.
  14. Not bad, if you had a kicker your right there.
  15. YUP, you need waivers for tournys. Nowhere is limit changed like at Okeechobee, they just cant figure out whats best.
  16. Good Luck. Okeechobee is in pristine condition right now and set to become the country's best fishery. Everywhere you look is an explosion of life. The spawn this fall is going to be insane. The drought was the best thing that ever happened to the lake.
  17. If you can get into moonshine bay right now I would love to know how. And okee tantie is a boat ramp and park not an actual part of the Lake.
  18. Perfectly put, and you saved me a lot of typing Glenn. Everyone has the right to keep an occasional bass for the table, I do it on very rare occasions, and I believe in the above, to much release slows down the breeding process due to over crowding. I think most lakes have a nice balance of meat fisherman and catch and release, especially bass, I know a 100 bass fisherman in Florida, about 10 keep fish on rare occasions and none do on a regular basis. So pass the hot sauce please.
  19. Were are you putting in? If South Its an early bite, try to find some decent schoolers to get your limit quick, because once that sun gets up it gets tough, try the shoal just north of Uncle Joes, if its calm try out by cross island and the two spoil islands adjacent to the channel that extends out from the mouth of Uncle Joes canal. Theres fish all around Ritta island and there has been for months, but its a parking lot, their still in there, big fish as well. If you go in there and get a limit early I would stay until around 10 then head for the rim ditch and try to crank up a big kicker. try the cut at 92 and 100. If North If its up north theres some nice schoolers on the bottom of kings bar and the east side of grassy(the grassy up north). If your up there get your limit at one of these two spots then head for the Kissimmee River to get a kicker. Iv been up there all last week all of the above is what iv been doing to get decent limits. The waters up almost to 13. Good luck, I have one in 2 weeks.
  20. I would get rid of that little jump seat in the front of your console, that can be made into a storage box. Other then that strapping rods down is fine, my partner doesn't expect storage for his stuff nor do I when fishing in his boat. I provide a rear strap for his rods and he puts his tackle on the floor of the boat.
  21. Just a little update, I posted my boat back when I joined the forum. Iv since fixed it up a bit, new E Tech 250 and new deck, lids and and carpet. its a 92 Storm I had built. this is the first overhaul since I had it.
  22. When that place first opened it was like shooting fish in a barrel. Haven t been back in years.
  23. Whats the deal with those things? Signed gar tracker: Who still uses 200 year old Ambassadors and lews Speed sticks.
  24. loxahatchee allows tournaments now?
  25. A good summer pattern at Holiday is to Carolina rig the bridge pilings down by Alley, east of the toll booth, and out on the Alley
