  1. I'm happy for Mcmillian, hes a good kid.
  2. Quick RT story: I knew a legendary local fisherman from Gainesville Fl Johnny White ( Shaw Grisbey can verify that), he told me of testing the first rattle traps with Bill Lewis on Newnans Lake, can you imagine throwing them for the first time, they caught hundreds of fish. I like Spros.
  3. Like South Fla said be careful. By the way that's commonly called the 7 mile canal also mentioned above. Signed: The Repeater
  4. JS was pressured, Tin House, Kings Bar and everywhere else you could have gone, Saturday was my trail out of the north end, the lake was a zoo, next week is BFL, I cant wait till they all leave and let the lake settle. The fish are skiddish as can be, I posted before the tourney the weather was setting up for an unbelievable load of weights, I was right (for once). ;D
  5. Like mentioned above Zarambas the man for Peacoks,I used to fish with him when he was a Bass fisherman, he lives 2 blocks from me. I used to laugh at him for always going and fishing those Miami canals for Peacoks, now he makes a living doing it. If going out of the North end of Okeechobee go to Gerrards Tackle and try to get Larry Wright or his son Cody, hes the man up there. One of the best fisherman on the lake.
  6. Got an 8 1/2 this weekend. Pros everywhere pre fishing. Ill be fishing my trail on Saturday out there amongst them. The front they expected isn't going to make it, with warm mild days forecasted expect some big sacks, there's beds everywhere.
  7. Dept finders your friend on that lake, look for those hay bails and fish attractors. Tarpons my least favorite Florida lake.
  8. Brock's a big name fro Jax to Tally, theres a million of them.
  9. Was out duck hunting about 2 weeks ago and turned right with a duck motor and guess what? I almost bottomed out, was during the last day of the Everstart event and I thought to myself I hope none of these bass boats cuts through here like they did in the summer. Back on topic: Shoot me a PM and I'll put you on some fish. Don't be stingy, with those fish I bet that Merc trailer had 20 lower units ready to go.
  10. My old partner Bob Mack won the Extreme last week, I cant tell you where for risk of death, but Ill tell you he was flipping adjacent to spawning grounds.
  11. Im assuming your coming out of Oki Tanti or Scott Driver Ramp. Be careful, the waters low, leaving that river into the lake looks like deep open water, turn right and you'll find out it isn't. Just go up to the east side of Kings Bar and ease in, there's fish up there.
  12. That video burns my a%$, with all the junk fish that can be fed to the fish, these idiots through an undersized game fish. Size is everything in the fish eat fish world.
  13. The Peacocks up north of Dade got shot back from last years winter. The Talapia, Mayan Citlids, also got cleaned out up at the lake which is a good thing, the cold takes care of exotics.
  14. As long as its not let in at too fast of a rate. The majority of the water being released right now is going into the farms to help irrigate the crops. I don't have a problem with low water, it will help clean up that back, it grew back nasty this time.
  15. I hear ya. Its just that Im always reading about this muck full of pollutants covering the bottom, I spend a lot of time all over that lake, and I use the Old Florida Dept Finder and have been for years, the tip of the rod, I guess I'm missing it.
  16. You know this is actually a common misnomer, that the bottom of Big O is mucky, stick your rod down there and 9 out of 10 times you'll hit gravel or sand with a nice hard bottom. Now a lot of the shallows way way back have some dead vegetation or muck, but you'll be surprised. Shane J when the lake went to record lows exposing areas that hadn't been seen in our lifetime, your right I learned a lot about the lake, but with the usual winter drought its just a giant dish pan with miles of shallow flats that don't reveal much, its not a structure like your used to up north with drop offs and such, just miles of grassy flats with millions of HOGS swimming around. In fact a problem to new comers is being overwhelmed at the cover, like most South and Central Florida lakes. Signed..My 2 cents.
  17. Good Job.
  18. Like a led weight. 13.32 as of this morning. Time to start being a little careful, not real bad yet but its getting there. Under 13 my 4 blade goes on for quicker hole shots.
  19. I would tell you to exit uncle joes cut and head up the shoal but there forecasting a horrible east wind this weekend and the lakes dropping like mad. Fish the rim ditch unless you want to run up to the monkey box via the rim ditch go out the 7 mile canal and head out.
  20. Yes, Christian Trail out of Okeechobee s north end, came in 10 out of 55, they paid up to 9th. It was miserable. Edit too add: Saturday
  21. I find it hard to believe in a lake that size someones not on them. I'm paying attention my buddy has his Extreme Classic up there this weekend.
  22. +1 to add fish for bigger fish. Try a Texas rigged worm in lieu of a wacky rig. I smoked a bunch of boats one time fishing a tiny screw in weight, weedless rigged, skinny 8 " Manns Jelly style worm. They were all fishing those wacky rigs.
  23. A friend told me it was going to be a Garmans, I couldn't wait, then he called the other day and said it was a Dicks that he made a mistake. I'm probably better off, living 5 minutes from BPS does enough damage.
  24. Man what a sack, I now have a destination to go after smallies upon retirement.
