  1. Although I went with carpet on my Big O, its is set up for Saltwater, all stainless hardware and so forth, I had them leave the carpet out of the rod boxes as to not hold any moisture. I'm going to be looking for a Snook hook up soon and gladly trade a Bass trip for one.
  2. Hey Cowgirl, Bob and Kip won the Wends ay night tournament with 3 fish that weighed 20lbs. If you see Bob smile and ask him where their biting he'll give up the spot in a minute
  3. My 2 Cents Growing up fishing spinning rods set up with a left hand retrieve I continued on using them for Bass fishing back in the 70s, in the 80s they started making flipping spinning rods and I would even pitch heavy cover with spinning equipment and still have an awesome Fenwick Flipping spinning rod. And had an a All Star up until a year ago. The quality of spinning reels never kept up and I was forced to make the switch to baitcaster in the mid 80s. Starting with right hand retrieve I had no coordination to walk the dog or snap my top waters with my left hand and missed fish left and right trying to set up with the rod left hand. I immediately sold the right hand retrieve and switched to left and haven't looked back for the last 30 odd years or so. For the life of me I dont get why more right handed fisherman dont use left handed reels. The reel never leaves the dominant hand, frogs and buzz baits are skimming across the top upon hitting the water, pitching misses no short strikes following it back to the boat, lean forward give her a bit and bam.
  4. Nice I fished up north and caught a bunch of fish but biggest was about 4, I had about 16 pounds. Good Job. Last Saturday 1st Sunday, so today would be the next one? Edit too add: I see, second Sunday never mind
  5. Got to see my good friends FishinCowgirl and Cowboy, great people. Did pretty bad the first day but got a six and a half, woke up with a fever and sore throat Sunday hacking like a dog, it started comeing on late Saturday I was feeling kind of ragged, we forgoed the second day of fishing and went home, glad I did by the time I reached Broward I was in full blown sickness. For me to leave a tournament you know I was pretty sick. Pre fiishing was tough for me, I couldnt find nothing oin TOHO, if I had to do it over again I would have spent all my time in Kissimee, it looks great down there.
  6. Thanks FC you were right, I checked the envelope on my desk and found the fortune cookie size message. Boat 7
  7. What Fishin Daddy says its on sale at Bass Pro as we speak.
  8. Are you talking about gigging frogs on an airboat? If so anywhere out there. If your talking about fishing frogs, there's no such thing, they aint always chasing, sometimes you have to go down.
  9. I was in town getting some work done on my boat, bolts of lightning where smashing down like mortar shells. This central part of the state is extremely bad. A rancher told me they lose 200 head of cattle a year from lighting. Prayers to his family.
  10. Oh Boy mine was cashed as well, Ill call next week.
  11. I love Gander Mountain, the one in West Palm is top notch. We don't have Green Top I wonder if this is a national or just local move.
  12. I received the rules but no packet or number, see they got the home cooking working already, I'm doomed
  13. All he needs is one day to beat us.
  14. I am. We're leaving Thursday morning.
  15. I'm heading up for the maiden voyage this week, boat rigging slow down delayed the trip last weekend, probably for the best with all the rain, this Friday I'm heading up to Scott Driver ramp. Going to be checking out some props.
  16. Very nice, I want that black one.
  17. I'm curious, do salt water Stripers taste different from fresh water Stripers? That's the case with Snook, probably the best eating fish in the world, catch them in fresh water and they taste like soap. I recently had Striper for the first time at a restaurant in Charleston, amazingly delicious.
  18. Once again SouthFla speaks words of wisdom. Heres my take. Garmin extremely user friendly, I have the 5208 touch screen on my consel to get me there with the ease of touching and dragging the screen and tapping the screen to mark a way point. I realize its a top end unit but most Garmins i find easier to use. Faults. Less detailed maps and use of only Garmin software. Lowrance allows the use of more detail software and are ten times more detailed, the new Gen 2s are super fast. I keep one in the front for zeroing in on ledges and so forth. Faults. I find them a little more complected to use, but keep in mind Im 165 years old so you may not find this. By the way Dolphins are very good boats.
  19. The only knock I have on spro is after a lot of fish the hooks begin to catch the plastic, I always wind up having bending them out but have lost fish between the transition. I always had good luck with those original Scum Frogs.
  20. That's a pleasure for sure.
  21. I once won a tournament there without starting my motor, honestly, caught 19lbs from the ramp to the first weir east throwing a scum frog and Pop R. Not counting putting it on and off the trailer. The day before I won at the lake with 25lbs, one of the best weekends of fishing I ever had also one of the best years I had. I always loved the Alley, I had some fantastic days out there.
  22. As South Fla simultaneously advised. Thanks man, I got to get you out in it one day.
  23. Glades its not a storm its a Big O, its a custom boat built in Okeechobee.
  24. Minus the seats and engine hook up, that comes Tuesday. The seat in the photo is a temp just to get the hot foot measurement right. Its been a rough 3 months, but all in all it was pretty quick, it took 6 months to build my Storm in 92.
  25. Toho Kissimmee chane. Okeechobee really isn't a big fish lake. Its a quantity of high quality fish lake. Don't get me wrong lots of 10s out there, but not as many as there are 7s,8s, and 9s. Our growing period is too fast, too hot and shallow too grow numbers of monsters. Toho is the best big fish lake in the state of Florida in my book. Like mentioned above Tejas grows some monsters, but I guess thats not the SE.
