  1. Shallow Waters can help with the Hummingbird they wont be of much help for the prop., but Frank and Jimmy's may be of help. And when in need of work go to RJ (Ron) in Ft Lauderdale, he's the best. What engine do you have? I wanna say Yamaha but cant remember. A friend of mine has been having trouble since the beginning with that Hummingbird.
  2. I have to watch that what day and time? I fish Ista next month. Can these episode be watched in their entirety on line? I checked Outdoor Channel website and its just bits and pieces. I dont think DT gets the Outdoor Channel
  3. Finding the right partner is very hard. 8 hours on a boat with someone is a long time.
  4. Fred Iv been going through this for 6 months Iv tried 5 props and i think I was going the wrong way I need to go smaller rather then bigger. The only way is to keep testing them, that 27 pitch Yamaha prop is pushing my friends Big O into the 70s with a 250 Show. Thats fast for a Big O. They should be able to tell you up at Toho Marine, my buddy's looking at the new Phoenix and test drove one Saturday, he said it was mid 70s before he backed it down. Be warned most guys pinch up the speed limit when asked. Also when fishing the Lake the ride is more important then the speed, 75% of the time you cant run full tilt anyway, so while you want the best output I wouldn't sweat 2 or 3 miles an hour. I run with 5 battery's, extra bracing in the hull and transom along with a 3/4 inch deck by request, my boats a barge while in the Rim Ditch I joked with a guy in a Gambler this weekend with a racing Merc on the back, I told him Id race him out in the lake, he just smiled and said I'm not going out there.
  5. May was always the best month out in those canals. I had some great memories out there.
  6. A true innovator of are great hobby. Also a long time resident of my State. RIP Doug thanks for all the knowledge past down throughout the years.
  7. Try a sea anchor when I fished the canals it was a must. I still use it at the lake on occasion but not so much since the Talons came into play. Well worth it for any light boat or canal fisherman, slows you down perfectly. http://www.starmarinedepot.com/Jim+Buoy+18+Sea+Anchor.html?gclid=CPS03N63pLYCFUqoPAodmzEA-Q
  8. I lived there for 3 years actually north of Gvile in Alachua/High Springs area. If you want to take a little ride north the Santa Fe River has some nice fishing but can get shallow in areas during low water. And would be good for Trolling motor only. Orange Lake returned and should be fishable. All in all I was disappointed during my time there as far as the fishing. I knew a local legend John White of Alachua, he told me a story about himself and Bill Norman the inventor of the Rattle Trap and field tested the first traps in Newnans Lake, he said they caught in excess of 100 Bass. Years later I met Shaw Grigsby whos from Gainesville and brought up John White, Shaw said man I remember as a kid thinking we would have a tourny won and in came John White with a sack of giants.
  9. Theres a canal that runs south of Becker road west of the Turnpike, it looks nice. I dont know where you would access it.
  10. Its like golf. Hard, thats why we love it.
  11. Thats a tough team, Kips a guide up there and Bobs retired and fishes about 3-4 days a week. Good people, I fished trails with Bob for years when he lived down here. I fished a trail in 2005 with Kip that we won.
  12. Hard too fish beds from the bank. Signed: Mr. MOTO
  13. My old partner that moved up there along with another good buddy of mine won the Extreme last week with 23lbs, they had a 7 1/2 and an 8 3/4. Both are good fisherman, especially after i tutored them for so long.
  14. Man I remember when BRB fished a lot of boats, the club scene is thinning down. They do a great job with Ghosts and Goblins. What about the Bassin Fools are they still around?
  15. No pre fishing and haven't been there in about a 100 years. This should be interesting. I fished it once in the Mega Bucks days, thats how long ago. Sometimes you do good without all the nonsense information that gets tossed around by just going out and fishing. Sometimes.
  16. I have 2 Talons my Partner has 2 Power Poles. Both are excellent products. My Talons were under water for 2 days after retrieving them they were brushed off and worked like new. They are a bit nosier but the noise is not in the water and doesn't effect the fish Iv deployed them next to bedding fish and the fish wont move. They dont extend out from the rear of the boat like PP and they seem to hold a bit stronger then the PP in my opinion. By going straight down theres less leverage. Talons also have less too install no pumps just 2 wires, so if room is an issue you may want to consider that. PPs do go down quietly and can be moved out of the way easier, personally Iv never had my Talons get in the way nor has anyone fishing in the back of the boat. I think its up to you. Personally after seeing both in action I think its a coin toss.
  17. These later fronts dont effect them as much, plus the waters been staying warm. Iv had some great memories in that canal. Not bad for a Louie.
  18. Years ago the Okeechobee Tournys used to have a 10 fish a man limit, it was insane. Ill try and make that March 11th.
  19. South Florida speaks the truth, March through June are also my favorite months, and don't think their done spawning, iv seen some of the biggest and best spawns in May. And they start feasting on bream. Sam Griffin the maker of the famous Sam Griffin top water lures told me years ago that the Northerns leave right when the fishing gets the best.
  20. I dont know anyone who keeps bass on a regular basis, once in a great while ill keep a few small schooling fish to eat but does anyone here wish they would change the limit so you can fill the freezer? I know theres still some of the older generation people that do but they mostly Speck fish. I say Keep it the way it is.
  21. Be careful A big fish will straighten that out in a heartbeat.
  22. No if that front hits they''ll be on lock down. Not to mention its going to be blowing, personally I would change the plans
  23. All good advice, both east and west wall right off the Clewiston channel are close and should have fish.
