If I recall correctly, within just a few years Abu Garcia had a bunch of very similar reels. Black Max, Silver Max, Pro Max, Tournament (like the one were talking about), even a greenish colored Tournament Pro. Maybe that's why there's not much interest in this one. I had forgotten I even had mine, and when I decided to sell it I thought it would bring more, especially being basically new with box and paperwork, and the fishing scene on the side. I sure was wrong😂

I bought the reel the OP is asking about from Fisherman's Factory Outlet a year or so after they came out, which would put the date 2000-2002 (date might not be exact, if someone knows better please say so). Used it once and put it back in the box. Sold it on the big auction site about 2 years ago, looked brand new, with box, oil, and paperwork. Had to drop the price a couple times after being listed for several weeks. Ended up getting about $120 for it. For some reason there's just not much demand/value for that particular reel. I had an Apex Elite baitcaster. Casting wise, it was as good as any reel I've ever used. On the retrieve it was very geary feeling and noisy. No amount of cleaning and lubing would correct it. I sent it back under warranty, Ardent replaced the main and pinion gears, still was loud. I contacted them again and they sent me a free anti reverse bearing, still didn't fix the geary feeling and noise. Customer support was excellent but I'd hesitate to buy another Ardent.

If the gear ratio is 5.2:1 I'm guessing that would put the inches per turn at around 20 inches. Personally I'd prefer something faster when pitching and flipping, hit a target and get it back in quick to hit the next one. But that's still a very nice reel. Seems like reels back then had some "personality".

This will clear up everything. Seviin designed the reel, owns the tooling and sold the design to Banax😂 Seriously I'm sure for the price it's an ok reel but the cats been out of the bag a long time that other than Daiwa and Shimano, the majority of other brands are Asian built OEM reels nothing wrong with that nor is their anything wrong with the graphite frame. Most people reel shopping will never read stuff like this, see a Seviin reel on the shelf and buy it. Whether it's Seviin or a Steez, go fishing and have fun.

I see the springs on the yoke posts but not the pinion yoke itself. Did you remove the yoke and put the springs back on for the pics or are you putting the yoke on top of the springs when you reassemble?

Stren Original in 6 to 14lb test on various reels here. Years ago I did the whole different line for different situations thing but decided to simplify things. Didn't notice a difference in my catch rates. But I mostly fish open water, no pads and only a moderate amount of wood cover. I use clear blue fluorescent because it's easy to see. Aging eyes ruled out clear or green lines?

Or could be folks with arthritis, neuropathy, or in my case nerve damage in my elbow causing my ring and pinky finger on my left hand being about halfway numb. So a smaller reel is easier for me to palm.

On that type of braking system the brake ring\race is mounted on the palming plate, so when the spool turns the brake arms "fly" out making contact with it. So at high speeds the arms are already making contact with the brake race, not faling into it at the top or bottom of the spool rotation. If anything as the spool slows they would be moving back toward the spool (away from the brake race) as the spool slows. If that was in fact causing the noise, out on the water when all is quiet, and on a slow retrieve like dragging a jig or C-rig, all you'd hear is the clinkity-clinkity of tiny plastic brake arms?
