  1. So, for the most part, everyone is saying you should be buying a trout stamp even though you have no intention of fishing for trout? If that's what going to be needed to fish for bass without problems it seems they should just get rid of the need for seperate stamps/licenses. The problem seems to be poorly written laws/rules leaving the warden as having to guess what people are fishing for. I always thought of Kastmasters as a Saltwater lure to be honest, not a trout lure.
  2. Spoons are underrated for bass - Silver Minnow for top water, Kastmasters for shallower water and Daredevyls for deeper presentations.

    Mepps

I feel they spin much better than rooster tails and come in much bigger sizes. #3's to #5's for bass. #5 in Rainbow trout does well for me in trout stocked ponds.

Great spinners. I think they are much better than rooster tails.
  5. Mostly Charles River this year, hit Horn Pond a few times. The water level has been all over the map in both.
  6. Both the salad spoon and rage shad give you pretty much the same look as a weedless spoon with a single tail grub. The color options are better, but sometimes the flash of the spoon is better. I haven't seen the salad spoon in many stores, if I see them I'll definitely try them. I've had more luck with the shad than frogs.
  7. Finally had some late luck yesterday swimming a jig through some slop, used the paddle tail of a RI hollowbody paddletail swimbait as the trailer. I think I'm fishing places that's just seeing too much traffic. There was a 12 inch pickerel lingering around but not biting anything. If it's so overfished that pickerel are getting gunshy it's probably time to move to another spot.
  8. Alligator gar was just featured on River Monsters. Interesting that they said gar were once in most of the US but were killed off. Do people eat them? I hope they're not bowfishing just to kill the things.
  9. Threw everything and the kitchen sink and best I could get was a follow by a perch on a inline spinner. Between the weather and the water levels being all messed up I've had no luck over the last three weeks.
  10. McNaughton is the founder of Netbait. The patents sound manufacturing related.
  11. Jitterbugs, Mepps inlines and Daredevles will still catch plenty of fish. A Flatfish will too - it's my favorite from fishing as a kid in the early 80's. Only two ways to fish them, slow and slower.
  12. Freshwater clam. Hook got it right in the mouth.
  13. In my case - inlines and smaller worms tend to be dink magnets. They wouldn't be my first choice for catching good sized bass but I think they stand a better chance of catching something.
  14. I would go inline spinner or a small finesse worm.
  15. Rick Clunn LC wakebait. Looks great, hasn't caught a thing. I'm sure it's just me so I'll be throwing it again all summer.
  16. I guess it depends on the size of the rocks. Large rocks - no, smaller rocks - yes. I've rolled rocks with stuck cranks or jigs. If it's just a hook you can often get the hook to bend and save the crank.
  17. 30lb braid helps some too.
  18. It's slowly becoming my go to topwater over vegatation. I had a lot of luck with these last year.
  19. Some of the bigger bass I've caught the last few years have been on a Mepps #4 or #5 spinner and the Kastmaster. Inlines will catch every type of fish imaginable. A trout pattern in stocked trout lakes have worked well for me. I think head to head an inline will outfish a spinner bait in open water, but obviously they don't handle cover as well. The Kastmaster has some flash and wobble but I think the main reason it's worked for me is because it can reach parts that few other baits can from shore. If you're boatless, a Kastmaster or other heavy casting spoon is a must have.
  20. It's basically a hollow body frog but shaped like a fish right? I see no reason why it wouldn't work - it looks childish but it's more lifelike than a spook or chugbug visually. The design/action may be flawed but I don't see the big issue with the concept. It would be interesting if we were to see a higher end version of this from another company.
  21. Helin Flatfish.
  22. I don't know that neck of the woods too well. Mass Wildlife has some info on their site. Many of the info is 10 or 20 years old and should be taken with a grain of salt, but it has helped me find some places. http://www.mass.gov/dfwele/dfw/habitat/maps/ponds/pond_maps.htm
  23. Yes and yes.
  24. I have used it. I didn't notice any difference fishing with it as far as hookups and the scent seemed to wear off quickly. However, I'm a bank fishermen and believe I did see a increase in hits when working my way back through the area I had previously fished with the YUM. It's almost like it worked like chum.
  25. I like their flukes a little better than the Zoom's. Their inventory reduction sale is great - can't beat 100 pieces for the price of a 10 pack.
