  1. I second this. Used to fish exclusively from shore and found that 20lb+ braid was a very economical way to save on lures. Lost a lot less and would use it to haul in other lost lures. Plastics are still the most economical, curly tail grubs especially.
  2. If they did that it would be the same price as Lucky Craft with the quality of Renegade.
  3. Their lipless cranks seem OK. Nothing great but an OK lipless to throw in rough situations. I fish from shore so I lose quite a few cranks so the lack of long term durability is moot. Think I have a popper but no impressed with it. Obviously there are better options but if it's going to end up stuck in a sunken tree (or shopping carriage) by the 3rd time out using it, $2 is about the right price as they tend to run pretty well.
  4. If have the most luck with them. Since they dont' recieve much hype I always end up using them less than I should, but always happy with the results. I think if you are having a bad day, an good inline is probably the second closest bait to a sure thing after a senko.
  5. 1) green Zoom trick worm 2) stanley ribbit in green (need a topwater bait - have had better luck with the ribbits than other toads) 3) white/blue flake zoom super fluke 4) blue/chrome kastmaster (1oz) (only because I fish from shore) 5) Mepps dressed spinner in rainbow trout, #5 blade I would probably change it up if I fished from a boat.
  6. Many will also work with a straight retrieve or an in between cadence with some rips and falls. Daredevyls I have been much more successful with rips and falls, Kastmasters on straight retrieves. Watch the spoon as you fish it, some have a great wobble on the retrieve but sink like a rock on the drop, some have a great flutter on the drop and come back with the action of a lead sinker on a steady retrieve. Most good spoons look good no matter which way you fish them, but tend to shine more in one area or another.
  7. Terminators inline is very well made. I think there are about 5 or 6 options out there better than a rooster tail.
  8. Rooster Tails never spin well for me. Mepps are far superior in my opinion. Panther Martins and Vibraxs are as well.
  9. Walmarts up north here still have some packs in the bargain bins.
  10. I've had good luck in trout stocked waters with a #5 in rainbow trout pattern. I've had more success with Mepps than I've had with spinnerbaits, although anything smaller than a #4 tends to be dink magnets. They are also much less weedless.
  11. Here's some dated info from the state.... http://www.mass.gov/dfwele/dfw/habitat/maps/ponds/pdf/dfwwalke.pdf
  12. You won't find anything cheaper, not with similar performance. Most of the better jerk baits are even more pricey. I switched to braid fishing them from shore - a lot less snap offs from the snags.
  13. One of the lures I have a lot of luck on. Feathered chrome and blue, usually 3/4's or 1 ounce. I'm a shore fisherman, so sometimes it's one of the few lures I can get to where I think the bass are. Varied retrieves but typically medium steady or slow with the occassional jerk or letting it drop.
  14. Inline spinner - Mepps #3 or #4 Trick Worm Manns Baby 1 minus
  15. Finally got out today, Charles below the Watertown falls. Just one fish, a 2 pounder on a DT-6. Threw everything and the kitchen sink.
  16. Never have - I fish from shore. Would probably only go that route if I had a boat that made reaching over to lip fish a stretch.
  17. I can hit any type of tree branch imaginable from shore. Overhangs, submerged branches, branches on the opposite shore (usually with spoons), floating branches, etc. - I can't miss!
  18. I use 4/0 offset long shank hooks.
  19. Boatless so I've only fished the Concord a few times, I stick to the Charles for better shore access. However, I've had equal luck with spinners cross current, against the current and with the current. They'll be typically focussed on items coming downstream if they're feeding, but they'll notice a spinner coming close to them regardless of the direction.
  20. I caught one last year deadsticking a fluke. Bizarre.
  21. How many questions are there?
  22. Microwave pizza and a gatorade before bed never fails. That and a foot on the floor to stop the bedspins.
  23. Lake Fork Live Magic Shad - good size range, two pounders will try to eat as well as the larger ones.
  24. 3 inch grubs for spinnerbaits. I like using some sort of paddletail for swimming jigs, although I don't swim jigs very often. I'll also use 5" or 6" grubs on swim jigs.
  25. I've been out of commission with the flu for the past week. You should check out the Charles below the watertown falls. Herring are running so anything that resembles are herring will catch bass - silver spoons, silver rapalas, baby 1 minus, etc. all work well. Flukes and rage tail shads as well. Striper run with them to feed on the herring as well, you'll see a lot of saltwater guys. Haven't had the pleasure of catching a striper, was banking on this year but haven't had a chance to head down. I found bass also hang out right at the top of the fish ladder to eat their fill directly at the falls.
