  1. I have read this before about the Smoke. Post #19
  2. Sounds to me like she doesn't want to go fishin at all so why bother!
  3. I wouldn't hesitate to buy from that guy. I couldn't care less if every word in the description was misspeled or not. The guy has great feedback and to me, that is all that matters.
  4. I fish from shore all the time. Most days I catch nothing. The last bass I caught was over a week ago. My problem is that I don't like to explore and find new places. I will stay in the same vicinity for hours catching nothing. I also have the latest high tech rods and all that crap and I still catch nothing most days. It's all about location. Funny story and very true. A few months back I get to my usual spot where I know that will probably not catch anything and I've got a GLoomis rod and a Shimano baitcaster and I haven't caught jack........This guy shows up and he starts fishing and the usual conversation starts up. He ask me if Iv'e caught anything and I say no and then I find out that he has caught a few. In fact he wants me to take a pic of him posing with his biggest. So we go over to his car and he opens the cooler and I am like d**n man, where did catch all these at. The dude had a cooler full of LMB. They were gonna have a fish fry today is what he told me. He said that he caught all these in "neighborhood ponds". He had a junky little Walmart special spinnging outfit and the only lure that he was using was a little countdown black on gold Rapala. I think it was a CD9. It's all about location.
  5. If price didn't matter for me and I could get a new rig right now, I would get a GLoomis BCR893 GLX (Senko Rod) and a Shimano Calais 100A. I would use it for un-weighted worms, soft jerkbaits, very light jigs and very light weighted worms.
  6. I plan on sending my 50E in to DVT this winter for a bearing upgrade and whatever else that will make it a better reel. I am happy now for the most part but I think that I should be getting more distance. Also, watching youtube videos of guys spinning their spools in freespool and the spool spins for what seems like forever makes me think mine is definitley slower that it should be.
  7. I have used 50# Power Pro on my 50E with no problems and right now I have 14# original Stren on it and I cast a 1/2oz Texas rigged worm with no problems.
  8. I use a Uni Knot for line to line and everything else too.
  9. I am thinking of getting a GLX version to use for unweighted plastics and 3/8oz weighted plastics and 3/8oz and under jigs. Is the BCR853C the rod I am looking for? I just got a MBR844C IMX but I don't think it's what I am looking for as far as using lighter weight jigs and plastics.
  10. Good looking Bass!
  11. I agree with the others. If your brakes are disengaged and they engage when you cast, you got some pretty quick wrist movement going on.
  12. I have read on this site that the Lamiglas SR705R is the rod to get when using a DDCB. I am saving up for a 705 but not the SR. http://www.lamiglas.com/prod_indiv.php?groupid=34
  13. I thought about small cranks. What about top water? I had a Curado 50e on it but at the moment it has a vintage Shimano 10xSG on it.
  14. I have a 6'6" Medium Light-Fast , Line Wt 6-15#, Lure Wt 1/8-5/8oz Casting Rod I bought this a while back before I really knew the importance of line weight, lure weight, action etc. It is basically a sit in the corner rod that doesn't get a whole lot of use. My question is what is the ideal use for this rod?
  15. Adjust you reel so that line does not come out easily when you press the button. As you get better, you can loosen it up a bit. Shimano says that if your backlashes occur in the beginning of the cast, you need to adjust your magnets of whatever you have. If the backlash occurs at the end of the cast, you can just use your cast control knob to to slow the spool down.
  16. Looks like you had a great time. Is that a Gheenoe? I wish that I had not of sold mine.
  17. I have been to 2 BPS's. Orlando and Ft. Meyers. I too felt like a kid in a candy store.
  18. I have two 6' rods and I throw weighted and un-weighted worms, jigs, spinnerbaits and crankbaits.
  19. Thanks for the reply's. I ended up getting a new Calcutta 100B and I put it on a Loomis MBR 844C. I like this one so much that my next reel will be a Calcutta 50B.
  20. I cast with one hand when fishing with my rods that are 6' 6" and under and two hands with my 7 footer.
  21. I do all of my fishing from shore and I'll bet that I have never landed more than 3 bass of any size in a one day period. I have been fishing for bass on and off since I was 12 and I am 41 now.
  22. WOW! I have never seen a lure that costs that much. Those will definitely not be finding their way into my tackle box anytime soon. If I had the cash, yes they would. My first thought was that you have to be crazy to buy those but when I think about it, those expensive lures are no different than a target archer spending $500.00 on a dozen arrows.
  23. What is a $100.00 lure?
