  1. I also have a Curado 50E and it's mounted on my new G Loomis MBR783C GLX that I got for $283.00 on ebay. Right now, you can buy a new Loomis 783C IMX for $260.00 shipped on ebay. There are some very nice 783's in either the GLX or IMX on ebay if you do the ebay thing. Another Loomis rod that is in your budget that gets a lot of positive reviews in the 7 foot Loomis MBR843C IMX. You can find a real nice GLX version used for lower than your budget and sometimes new for your budget. No offence to hootiebenji, but there is no way that I am buying the GL3 version when I can get an IMX or a GLX for the same money. BTW, I have a GL3 723C and it's not as sweet as the IMX version.
  2. I don't have any combo that expensive but if I had a $1000.00 in my hand, it wouldn't bother me a bit on spend it on a rod n reel. Just thinking of things that cost me more than a $1000.00 is easy. My bow with all of the accessories, M1A Scout Squad, Bushmaster Gas Piston Upper for my AR. A $1000.00 for top quality gear is a money well spent IMHO!
  3. I haven't spooled with any flourocarbon yet, but when I do, I will fill my spool with a cheaper line that is is the same diameter or as close as possible to the flourocarbon that I will be using, make several casts with the heaviest best casting lure that is suitable for that particular rod. After a series of casts, I will pull off a little bit extra line, cut the cheap line, tie on the flourocarbon and fill up the spool with the flourocarbon.
  4. He is more than likely crying indoors so that you can't hear him cry!
  5. I still remember the day my dad brought me home a Zebco 33 with my own little tackle box. I was thrilled to say the least. I was also a little older than 3. Probably 5.
  6. I read this on Japan Tackle. As a matter of fact, I ended up stripping a screw trying to take one of the grips off of one of my Calcutta's using the left hand thread method. Wrong!!!! The screws come off regular righty tighty lefty loosy.I just took a grip off of my silver Calcutta 100 using righty tighty lefty loosy. Now my Calcutta 100B was different. I could swear that the original handle that came with it was righty tighty lefty loosy because I stripping the screw on my original handle using the left hand thread method. I bought a replacement on ebay that was advertised for a Calcutta 200 and it is left hand thread.
  7. An aluminum frame and a titanium line guide. Just my 2cents
  8. I just bought a Loomis BCR875 for punchin. That is what I am using now. I had an opportunity to handle a Loomis FSR904X GL2 last week. When I get the money, I will be getting the IMX version of that rod and it will replace the BCR875 for punchin. For light duty pitchin, I am using my Loomis MBR 844IMX.
  9. I liked his show. He seemed like a good guy. RIP
  10. Could just be the water. The only bass that I catch are largemouth and most of the time there is no pattern. They are just dark dark green.
  11. I have 15lb C21 on a set-up and I like it.
  12. Not trying to hi-jack your Thread but I am curious as to what type of cover you are pitchin in. I am pitchin in this type of cover. I use braid but would prefer a heavy copoly or flourocarbon. I may try a 25# line and see how it works.
  13. After seeing pics of the various replicas that have been posted, I have changed my mind. Unless it's a record of some sort, I wouldn't kill a bass just to have it mounted.
  14. On the front of my truck
  15. Check out the MBR843's on ebay. Look at the completed listings. There is no reason why you can't get your Loomis IMX for less than $200.00
  16. I was wearing a Stihl camo hat this morning but I was using an Echo backpack blower. LOL Their rods may be overpriced but I like the way they, look, feel and fish and I I figure that I am on this Earth just a very short while so I might as well be happy with my rods while I am here.
  17. You did not mention the weight of your swimbaits. I use my Loomis MBR844IMX to cast Gambler Big EZ's with a Curado 200DPV and I get plenty of distance. The Big EZ with a 1/8oz weighted hook weighs roughly 3/4oz. If I were using a smaller swimbait, I would look at a Loomis MBR843. You can find used, in great shape, MBR843 IMX's on eBay all the time.
  18. I wonder if the guys that say you shouldn't mount a bass would have a problem mounting a ten point buck! Do what you want and don't worry about what others say or think!
  19. I too bought Yo Zuri Hybrid because of what I read on the forum. I thought the line sucked big time. My line was spooled on a casting reel and the line developed so much memory that I respooled with P-Line and never looked back.
  20. When I owned one, I used it on a jig & worm rod.
  21. All of my Rods have a full grip but I think some split grips look better.
  22. Did you tighten your drag?
  23. Great pic if you ask me. Take the kid out for ice cream and tell him what a great job he did!
  24. I got my first baitcaster in 81 or 82. It was a Shimano Bantam Mag Plus 250SG. I abused the heck out of that reel and I still have it.
  25. Nice Bass!
