  1. For $28, why not? Abu makes quality products.
  2. ...or maybe the bird was telling you to use him as bait...you never know what a bass will eat on a given day.
  3. It's the same thing at one of the lakes I fish at, but only thing that I can think of that might do it is that a decent amount of chemicals are put into the lake.
  4. Maui Jim is where it's at.
  5. Looks like a nice set-up. Good luck.
  6. Hmm...well not many people can tell that story...but at least you learned a new fishing technique.
  7. If it's working, why change?
  8. Nothing wrong with that fish, keep it up.
  9. Haha, I meant to catch it, sight fishing in a shallow canal.
  10. Yeah, it was a lot of fun. And a cuda on fly? You must of had to strip fast, and lucky it didn't bite your leader in half.
  11. Thought I would share this... After much practicing in the backyard to learn how to fly fish I went on a trip to Stuart, Florida and caught my first fish on fly and my first tarpon. Nice jumps. [ First fish on fly!
  12. www.nativewatercraft.com http://www.hobiecat.com/kayaking/index.html www.oceankayak.com/ www.wildernesssystems.com www.heritagekayaks.com/ All very good kayaks. And a place that I go for my kayaks and accesories is http://www.paddleva.com/ Very reliable and in the Richmond area.
  13. Honestly, I would get a kayak. The fishing club I belong to is about 50 yards away from the Hugenot Bridge. My dad and I take our kayaks out almost every weekend and it is some good fun making the drifts down the river catching the smallies. They have kayaks that are rigged for fishing and you can get them fairly cheap and you can customize yours with a lot of accesories. I have an anchor, rod holders, paddle holder and a drift sock. I have even seen people put fish finders on their kayaks.
  14. I am purchasing a new reel and rod soon and my nearest tackle shop has a Daiwa Steez on sale for $250, a 200 dollar discount. I was wondering do you all think it would be worth it to buy the Steez or http://products.gloomis.com/gl/products/alltackle/detail.jsp?PRODUCT%3C%3Eprd_id=845524441761005&FOLDER%3C%3Efolder_id=2534374302032505&ASSORTMENT%3C%3East_id=1408474395181201&bmUID=1214432664728. I will be getting the Shimano Core for my reel, but I am having trouble deciding which rod to buy. I felt them both with the reel on and I am leaning more towards the G. Loomis, but the Steez is such a good deal. I am mostly jigging and throwing plastics...any ideas?
  15. I belong to a club that is like 50 yards away from the Huguenot Bridge and we row our kayaks up the river to Willie Bridge where the dam is and people from the club have pulled 4 lb. smallies out of that area. Don't know if it's wade-able, but you can stand on the rocks.
  16. (Don't know if this is the right place for this, but...) I have been recently trying to learn how to pitch a bait and I can't seem to get it down. I've read some articles and such, but it still is a challenge for me. When I do the "wrist flick" and drop the bait, it only goes about 10-15 feet and back lashes. Any tips on what I'm doing wrong? Any videos that give a good walk through on how to do this technique? Thanks. :-[
  17. Nice fish! Bigger than any smallie I've caught. Keep him fishing with you, he'll remember it and thank you later, I know I do with my dad.
  18. http://www.3rdgrip.com/CrateMate.htm A little pricey, but worth it. I have it and its nice to hold all your extra stuff around.
  19. Not 100% sure, but I'm pretty sure dogfish and snakeheads are different. Snake heads are an invasive species that are destroying bass populations, I hear... :'(
  20. Yeah, the Steez is so nice. ;D And I looked up the Daiwa Alpha alls I got was links to forums and the Sol, are they the same thing?
  21. Haha, hot day today, would rather be in the James.
  22. Nice fish, and beautiful sunset shots.
  23. I'm not sure if it's exactly "allowed" but I do it anyway, they don't seem to care.
