  1. Nice. I understand now. Thank you for replying. I caught one of the biggest bass of my life on a 4" spro BBZ shad and I know that thing isn't that special. But it did open my eyes so to speak and I'm ready to step up to something a little more "professional". Very interested in the HPH.
  2. The HPH definitely has my interest. But why is it so difficult to find information on it? Like colors, weight, and cost?
  3. If it ain't broke don't fix it... but add a rage tail!
  4. I was gonna say this lol. So yeah I started that thread and I definitely like my new Revo STX a lot. Its built like a tank, and despite this being my first baitcaster i have had no problems using it or dialing it in.
  5. Man all you guys keep saying bad things about the 4". I own both the 6" and the 4" and I've caught way more fish on the 4". That may just be a result of where I live and fish, but I'm going to try and fish that 6" a little more and see if I can get some bigguns. Oh and I also own the Tru Tungsten 4" and again the Spro 4" beats it for me. But I do like the fact that I can change the sink rate on the Tru Tungsten. Good luck out at Mansfield Hollow Russbert!
  6. You definitely can.
  7. Weird I've never had any problems casting this bait. Actually its one of the farthest casting swimbaits I own because of its density. Also, every single fish that takes this lure gets hooked. I'm not saying that it isn't possible to get short biters, but 99% of the time in my experience they hook themselves eagerly. Hardly a situation where a trailer hook is needed. I also own this bait in Killer Gill and it caught me my PB in my home state. I also own the Blueback Herring color. Slow sink is my fav. The 6 inch has two hooks on it with a longer body.
  8. Dude... :-? : "UPDATE: Just got the package today. I was surprised with what I found inside. Chris sent me 4 spinnerbaits (2 3/16oz AlphaShin, 2 3/8oz ChartWhite), a strike king hat, and their catalog. Really makes you feel special when a company actually cares about their products. If that isn't excellent customer service, I don't know what is. "
  9. I also picked it up and played with it. It feels pretty nice, although what reel doesn't feel nice in that price range when new?. I have been using the previous model Supremes for about 3 seasons now and they are d**n good for what I paid. Did you happen to see the new Patriarch spinning reel? I couldn't find one to pickup and play with. I'm very interested in it because its Pfluegers first 200 dollar spinning reel. I wonder if they pack the same bang for the buck as the others?
  10. No I haven't ever tried tying mono to mono with an alberto. But why would you be doing that anyway? Because new reel with 1. new mono backing 2. not enough braid on it (can cast to knot) 3. don't want to throw away the new line being used as backing 4. decided to use rod for mostly crank style baits. 5. I'm frugal (hate throwing away perfectly good line). I have a few yards left of P-line CX 8 lb. that I am going to use for some unscientific testing. I figure if the knot doesn't slip it will most likely be strong enough, but will compare it against the Uni-to-Uni. Lol ok I hear ya. Yeah definitely experiment because there may be a better knot for mono to mono. But the best braid to leader by FAR is the Alberto.
  11. Moaner hooks are just Mustad Ultrapoints, so yeah they are good.
  12. I use about 8 feet personally. It really is personal preference IMO. But the reason I use 8 feet is because I compulsively retie at the smallest amount of damage to my leader. It gets shorter real quick. And I highly recommend the Alberto Knot over any other knot for braid to leader connections.
  13. No I haven't ever tried tying mono to mono with an alberto. But why would you be doing that anyway?
  14. I have been using the Alberto knot for years now. It is without a doubt my favorite line to line knot. The stuff I have put this knot through is ridiculous, and I trust it as much as you can possibly trust a knot. Now as for lines close in diameter, IMO you will be totally fine tying 40 lb braid to 12lb mono. Just make sure that whenever you are tying braid to mono (or any other leader) that the braid is the line that you "wrap around". When tied this way the braid makes a phenomenal grip around the mono regardless of diameter. As always, when tying two new lines together, try tying a couple of small pieces together at home and test it out.
  15. This was my biggest issue with the change. b.Lee is this true?
  16. I pulled the trigger on the STX, thanks to your advice guys. Hopefully its everything I ever wanted. Did I mention this is my first baitcaster?
  17. Alright literally everyone votes for the STX? Well that was easy. I have one more question if anyone would like to give some more advice. Is the STX better for heavier baits? I ask because I will be exclusively using this reel with baits over 1oz. Thanks.
  18. Which should I get? Which is easier to use? Which is built to last better? I will be using the reel for baits over 1oz, and they both can be had for around 100$ right now.
  19. Lol yeah I did sound like a commercial didn't I? I have no affiliation with St Croix (I wish) but their rods are awesome. I have a Daiwa Tierra 2500 on it. Color and balance match the rod perfectly. I bought mine on ebay two years ago for around 185$ brand new. The sellers name is wfishngame. He sells all models of St Croix and can get you a deal below retail for sure.
  20. This is fairly common actually, it happens a lot with the Horny Toads. I have heard that its zooms fault in QC. Then again I've also heard that its the store's fault in the way they "store" them. Probably a combination of both. Anyway do you really think the fish will care? Cuz I don't.
  21. The problem for me is that I can't pick just one brand. I need some slow falling stick baits (Wave Worms). Then I need my fast falling ones (GYCB). Then maybe even one in between. (?) Honestly unless someone revolutionizes the senko, I could just fish with those two brands and be completely satisfied.
  22. I have an LTBS70MF and it is absolutley phenomenal. My other spinning rod is a GLX and I do love it but as far as versatility goes the St Croix absolutely destroys the GLX. If you like that Mojo, man you will absolutely fall in love with the Legend Tournaments. The Mojos are all bulit very similarly to the LTB's-same actions, same lengths, same split grips. But everything on the LTB is better. The guides are Fuji Alconites, and the reel seat is a better Fuji seat than that of the Mojo. The graphite is SCIV, has a higher strain rate, and is much lighter. It has ART and IPC tooling which are pretty sweet technological advancements exclusive to St croix that translate to sick durability and fishability. Look ART+IPC tooling up if you are interested, its impressive.
  23. If its lightness and quality your after you can't go wrong with the new XT. But honestly someone like you should take a look at the new Patriarch spinning reel. Its lighter, cooler looking and better built. http://www.tackletour.com/reviewpfluegerspinningpreICAST10.html
  24. I like the new XT, it sure beats the old fugly XT. But the new Patriarch is so much prettier than any other spinning reel.
  25. Good stuff guys, this is exactly what I wanted to hear being talked about. 20lb CXX J Francho? d**n that must never break. I'm pretty sure I want a low profile reel for this. What are the best ones in the 200$ and below range?
