  1. No drinking for me while fishing, but only because I want to stay focused. A lot of times after we load the boat, we'll toss a couple dogs on a picnic area grill and have a couple cold ones then.
  2. I do it all of the time to check out the action of various worm techniques. Not sure about any line damage, but the neighbors think I've lost it.
  3. Is it possible that you have a bur on one of the rod eyes causing this pitting? I'm thinking it's something mechanical causing the problem. I don't use mono anymore but Stren is hardly junk, I've caught countless fish on it in years past. CXX or Sufix are both better in my opinion though.
  4. I picked up several Kistler LTA and Mag refurb's off of eBay recently and I tell ya, I love them. On the Mag's I got a crankbait and spinnerbait TS so I can't tell you specifically about the Senko model however I can just say that I was impressed with the quality of the rods. Enough so that last night I placed an order for one of the new Argon models. On the other hand Falcon makes good rods as well. I have an older Falcon Original. My suggestion is to buy both :-) Set the bait money free!!!!
  5. I don't believe it's as durable as AbrazX (based on info from Seaguar's website), but it's durable enough for my style of fishing. I've got it on most of my reels and as sweet daddy said, low memory and it lays down on the spool nicely which is a pet peeve of mine that I can't stand about some of the other fluoro's. I've tried several different brands and keep coming back to Seaguar.
  6. Take lots of pictures with the digital camera as you're taking it apart. Nothing like a picture when you're going, "huh, now how did that thing fit together?".
  7. Swimming a t-rigged Craw and/or swimming a jig (any jig to me is a swimming jig) with a Paca Chunk. When I want a break from worms one of these always produce.
  8. For real??? No brainer then I've got to try the XPS.
  9. The last several summers in Atlanta have had many 100 degree stretches and I can tell ya, I'm sitting on the couch watching fishing shows on TV. At least this year has been low average temps so far. At minimum I go out from sunrise to noon'ish.
  10. After trying several different fluoro's I've settled on Seaguar Red Label as the one I like best for now. I haven't tried the XPS yet, but had heard others say good things. My next order from BPS will include a spool of it just so I can try it myself.
  11. I don't own any spinning equipment so can't provide you a comparison, however the BPS finesse combo (matching ML rod) is what I use for throwing very light cranks, etc and it works good for me. This is the only non Shimano reel that I still own.
  12. I enjoy all except live bait, but give me a t-rigged soft plastic (worm, craw, etc) and I'm happy as can be.
  13. I place my thumb on the spool (baitcaster obviously) for that extra bit of feel when working a worm/jig. In my younger days I used to palm the reel so that I could run the line between index finger and thumb but at least for me, I can't set the hook as well holding the rod like that. This is a great topic. To me, a bite usually feel obvious which concerns me that there may be this whole level of 'subtle' strikes that I'm not feeling or processing. I practice occasionally in our swimming pool (much to my wife's displeasure) by placing a couple rocks in the shallow end and pulling a worm though them so I can visualize what I'm feeling. That works great for bottom structure but doesn't help me much for knowing just how softly a bass can pickup my worm.
  14. I have Curado E's on my worm/jig rods which is what I mostly fish, but have the Citica on my spinnerbait and crank rods. To me the Citica is just fine. Yea, the Curado is a little smoother, but not a huge difference. If you can get them for a big discount, try one out. I think you;ll like it, but if you don't you should be able to rid of it on eBay easily.
  15. Last I checked http://www.baitnhook.net/ had them for $159.
  16. I have two LTA's and two Magnesium's mounted with Curado E7's and I love them. Unless their quality takes a dive I'm a repeat customer.
  17. I have the same rod, and while it's not my absolute favorite, it has a permanent place in my limited rod portfolio.
  18. I know this is about Flouro, but does the cinching with the tag end apply to my sufix siege as well? I wet with saliva but cinch down with the main line. But I have not had any problems. It is a good habit to start with any line. As I'm clinching, I also help the knot along by pushing the knot down with thumb and index finger. Seems to help cut down on the friction. For the longest time I wouldn't try Fluoro because I read about it being so temperamental with knots. After finally giving in, what I discovered is that it's not the fluoro that's the problem. People just don't take time to master their knots. I've tied an improved clinch for the past 20 years and have had no problem with knot failures.
  19. What model? I have several RC's and still have all of the paperwork (I think). If I have the right one I can scan and send to you.
  20. I noticed that no one mentioned 'Vanish' as being their favorite : I made the mistake of picking up a spool of that the other day and I suspect I will strip it off and go back to Seaguar AbrazX or Red Label. I like the smoothness of their lines. I am going to have to order a spool of XPS though. I've heard lots of people say they like it.
  21. I've only been checked once this year.
  22. I just tossed a 5" Senko on my postal scale and it read 0.4 oz which is what about 3/8 oz plus the weight of a hook so should be no problem. None at all, a 5" senko weighs more than a lot of other baits and lure you'll use. Someone needs to weigh one on a good scale... this comes up enough that it should be a number we can quote.
  23. This is my main issue. Must be the Adult A.D.D. Funny how the fish can sense the exact moment that my mind is wandering to decide to strike.
  24. The Curado E7 is sweet. I have one mounted on a Mojo 7' MF and it's a nice combo. I believe the rod is rated for 1/4 to 5/8 oz lures. I've thrown both spinnerbaits and worms on it and like the action.
  25. +1 on the Suffix
