  1. O.K. so here is the deal... Last year I experimented with MANY different lines to try and find the one that fits me the best. I have settled on Suffix Siege mono (12lb) for cranks, Yozuri Hybrid Ultrasoft (15 lb) for spinnerbaits and topwater, Suffix Performance Braid (50lb) for frogs, jigs, and carolina rig, Yozuri Hybrid Ultrasoft (6lb) for spinning gear, but here is where it gets tricky... My plastics rod has got to my head. I used Suffix braid and it was o.k., but I think it may be too much for my ferocious hooksets lol...I tried 20lb Invizx and liked it, but I dont like paying $25 each time I want to replace the line, so, I still have my Invisx on there that was last changed in August and fished probably 15 times. Do you think I need to change it or leave it. Also, I bought bulk 15lb Yozuri Hybrid Ultrasoft, so should I replace it with the Hybrid, leave my Invizx on there, or just suck it up and buy more Invizx?? All this line stuff drives me NUTS!! I dont know if it matters, but it is a Pflueger President reel and Powell 704C rod.
  2. Actually jj2, your friends way with the PVC is the new thing. Transom Savers are starting to be built like this. It temporaryily mounts under your trim and sits on your two trim pads (or whatever theyre called). I went to buy a new one and the tackle store told me that these new ones actually took more stress off the transom. I dont really understand it, but i do know that it looks alot more like the original mounts on the motor. It has worked for me this year.
  3. where can u get a deal like that...if you dont want it i do!!
  4. Exactly what I was thinking. When I get in 2 fow and the Tm is sticking up two n a half feet, it will get in the way trying to cast sidearm. Long Mike, a TM shop can cut the shaft down and not void the warrenty?
  5. All of the above!!
  6. I have a 20ft. Nitro, but it only came with a 50lb Motor Guide trolling motor. It worked for the past few months, but when March comes around and Im on Toledo Bend or Fork, I know I will need more juice. I have been looking around for a good deal and I found a 80lb Minn Kota for $659.99. This is an absolutely ridiculous deal, but there is one problem. This thing has a 62" shaft. Is that going to be too long. I think mine now is 42", and if I could choose I would opt for the 52", but 62"? Would you put that on your boat, or do you think it will just get in the way?
  7. And also remember that their are PLENTY of other good rods at $100.
  8. Im going to have to agree with Fork. I go there every year for my spring break and we catch alot of solid (3-6lbs) fish. Last March I caught one that went 9-14. It is a blast, but be aware that the weather can turn quick and you can get into some trouble. I have been stranded on the opposite side of the lake before. I had to wait for the storm to pass and the wind to die down that night to come back across the lake!
  9. Im up the air on this trip. I wanna go, but my boat is gettin fixed. The Fuel pump went out, so its not hard work, just waiting for the part to come in. Also, it depends on if I kill a deer between now and then!!
  10. I dont think that there is one dominate brand, but I find that different brands succeed at different baits. For instance, Zoom Brush Hogs, there is nothing out there that can even compare. SK Rage Tails are absolutely ridiculous, especially the craw. Yamamoto Senkos are as good as they come. I HATE berkley chigger craws, but some people swear by them. Each brand has their staple products, its just finding out which brands product matches what u are looking for.
  11. haha yeah sorry about that...i could of swore that it wasn't there before I posted!! :-/
  12. I voted for the 743C simply because of the softer tip. It sounds like you have a rod for C-Rigging and Flippin so I would buy the 743C with a softer tip for spinnerbaits, senkos, ect. I also like the additional 4 inches!
  13. This thing looks interesting. Its a jig that is made to look just like a bream. Pretty cool design and thought, but I was wondering what you guys think about it. It doesn't come out until December I think, but you can preorder at TW right now! I wish I knew how to post a link...maybe someone else can do that for me
  14. I actually went out and played last week and shot a 69. It was one of those days where I couldn't hit a bad shot even if I tried. My previous best was a 76, so I was pumped. Now, golf is fighting for fishing time. I will warn you...it gets ADDICTIVE!!
  15. Grip style is about 1% contributing factor when buying a rod, but if I had to choose, I would choose split grip.
  16. I think a 7ft. MHF is the most versitale rod around. IMO, I would buy a 7ft. MHF Crucial. You can throw t-Rigs, Jigs, Spinnerbaits, Topwater, ect. on that!
  17. I like it for spinnerbaits, buzzbaits, topwater, and some light T-rigs. I think it floats, but Im not positive. P-Line CXX is almost impossible to break!!
  18. What is the knock on copoly lines. I love P-Line CXX. It is more abrasion resistant than floro, less stretch than mono. Why dont more people use this for more applications?
  19. Alright got back this mornin. We ended up staying at Pleasure Point, which was nice and Im glad we did. Friday we fished Six Mile and Sandy early with little luck. Caught 7, only 3 keepers all on traps. Went to Indian Mounds and White Oak that evening, caught 1 keeper on a DD22. Came back to Pleasure Point in Toro Reach and saw schoolers at about 6. Ended up catching 25ish with 8 good 4lbers and a 5lber. All on Chug Bugs. Saturday we fished Toro and caught 2 small fish on C-Rigs. Went and fished Housen and Six Mile, man were there some boats in there. I was sharing grass mats with 25 other boats. Caught 3 over there on traps. Couldn't do anything punchin. Came back to Toro Reach that evening and caught another 30 or so on Chug Bugs. Even caught a 5lb striper. All in all a great trip. I figured I caught 20 fish around 4lbs. The only problem we had was Saturday when I put my boat on the trailor my skeg was broke off. I dont even think we hit anything running, but we hit a couple stumps idling, but it shouldn't have broke anything. It had broke before and we just welded it back on, but apparently it didn't work too well. Then on the way home I got 15 miinutes from the house and burned up one of the bearings >. I got some work to do before my trip, but hopefully it will be fixed by the get together.
  20. We have 45 members and it was tight battling for the top six this year. The top 6 finishers gets to fish the Best Six tourny on Toledo Bend at the End of April. Its normally 95-100 teams of six people, so thats 600 people!! Anyway I finished 5th, so I accomplished my goal. Maybe next year I'll shoot for AOY! ;D
  21. Does anyone know anything about Twin Oaks RV Park in Six Mile? Also, would you stay there and still fish Six Mile with the big tourny out of Fin and Feather or would you head north to Cypress Bend or North Toledo Bend State Park?
  22. Thanks for the heads up...maybe I'll head north then haha
  23. I appreciate it...lets hope it minor for both our sakes!!
  24. Alright guys I need some help... My wife and I are going camping in a tent this weekend. I took off at the church, so we got 3 days. I would like to fish the Indian Mounds and Six Mile/Sandy Area. The only problem is I cant find a campground in that area with shower/bathhouse and a grill. I cant bring my grill because it won't fit with all the other junk we got goin. Any suggestions? Does anyone know of a place to camp with water, electricity, and a grill near these areas?
