  1. We shall see my friend...we shall see!! Bama will be solid, but LSU returns pretty much everybody on defense with the exception of Nevis, Peterson, and Sheppard. Offensively we lost Ridley, Tolliver, and a lineman or two, but we upgraded at QB (Mettenberger) and have about 15 RB's who can easily replace Ridley. Oh and did I mention we got the #1 lineman in the nation in Anthony Johnson. It should be a great game, but the Tigers will prevail!
  2. you may be putting the skirt back on backwards
  3. Each and every game in college football is important. 1 loss and you could loose your shot at a Title. NFL you can win less than half of your games (Seattle 7-9) and still make the playoffs and play for a ring. NFL is boring until playoffs. Even then it doesnt measure up to a night game in Death Valley. Its nothing like tailgating days before the game, eating gator meat, and then whooping some gator butt on Saturday!! And that goes for those dang hogs too!!
  4. Sounds like youve gotten some good use outta that ol' reel. But, who knows, the Mettle may last 10 years...mine is still like new and it is on its second season. My point is that some people are going to be looking for a quality baitcasting setup and only have $100 to spend or something. I am simply infering that the Mettle is a quality reel for $50 and only $25 when on sale. Not saying go out and sell your Revos and Curados to buy Mettles lol. Just letting people know that there are quality reels for cheaper prices. Not everyone can spend $120-$200 on a reel today. I have been fortunate enough to spend my fair share of money of rods and reels, but the Mettle is a good, cheap alternative.
  5. Very true...I have a job, so I dont get to fish as much as I would like (which would be everyday), but I do get at least 2 days a week in if not 3. I probably fish 120 days a year, but my Mettle held up all of last year and still running smoothly this year. Buy a box of poptarts this week and eat them for breakfast everyday instead of stopping by McDonalds and you will save enough money to buy a Mettle when they go on sale. (that was not direted at you Goose lol)
  6. No, but they should be for Memorial Day. Even at $50 they are a steal, but if you can wait till Memorial Day, you cant beat $25!
  7. Yall have definatly never fished with a Mettle. I own Pflueger Presients, Shimano Curados, a Shimano Chronarch and Calais, a Pflueger Summit, and a Shimano Calcutta (I like Pflueger and Shimano), but I can honestly say that the Mettle will outcast every one of my other reels. It is smooth casting and has a smooth drag and for $25...your the ones missing out! I can buy 8 Mettle for every 1 Curado. If a Mettle last only 2 years, thats 16 years! I dont use cheap stuff often. My rods are Powells. My line is Seagar. But when I find a deal, I thought I would share. Plus, we always have someone asking "What is a good, cheap reel?" Well, I just answered that.
  8. I say give em a shot. Your right, the Abu line-up has a very fast tip on it, so I too would guess that the moderate action would handle all of the above just fine. The Vendettas are nice rods for the money and it sounds like it should fit your needs. Try it, you might like it.
  9. I'll normally start throwing alot of topwater during post-spawn. The males are up shallow guarding fry and will absolutly crush a chug bug or frog sometimes. Also, you can get some big girls mixed in too. I will throw topwater from April-October.
  10. Or your worm gear could be sticking...check and see if it pauses on one side when reeling.
  11. Then look no more. Academy Sports has an Academy brand reel called a H2O Mettle. It is smooth, cast a country mile, and holds up over time. They are listed for $49.99, but they go on sale for $25. Use one, I think you will be suprised!
  12. Trust what? Simon Motorsports? If so, when I got mine back it fired up my engine like new and it does have a 1 year warranty. I mean heck, for $500 you could have it rebuilt 4 times before reaching the price of a new unit. Brucato's ACU and PCU are used on most all racing motors these days. They are considered to be a huge upgrade from the stock ECU's. They have features such as setting your own fuel curve and all.
  13. I have two Powells and love them. If I was buying a new rod it would be between a Dobyns and Powell. I wuold buy one of each, see how you like them and then buy the third one based on your experience with the two. Cant go wrong either way tho.
  14. Ive heard that Seafoam only treats the gass that it is first poured into. For example, if you have 5 gallons of gas in your tank and pour seafoam into it before you fill up, it will only treat the first five gallons, whereas if you use it after fillup it will treat the whole tank. Not sure if its true, so someone with more knowledge shed some light on this if ya will.
  15. To find Simon Motorsports just google it. Mail it to em' and they can do it and send it off the day they recieve it. Turnaround is about a week.
  16. Simon Motorsports rebuilds them for much less. I just had one rebuilt for $500 a few weeks ago off of a 1995 Mariner 200 EFI. They also give you a 1 year warrenty. CDI Electronics rebuilds also, but with no warranty that I am aware of and about $800-$1000. Also, Tony Brucato makes his own ECU and calls them an ACU or PCU. I havent used one, but Ive heard that they are much better than the Merc ECUs. Better fuel economy, better idle, and better power output from what Ive heard. They are $1000.
  17. When I was in Lowes a few weeks ago there were a ton of fish on beds. Catt, do you think that there will still be enough bed fish next weekend to even fish for? If we fill a quick limit, should I go lookin for a big momma on a bed or do you think they will all be done by then?
  18. South Texas side of the lake seemed to dominate this tournament. I know Walker was in 1215 and Ish was in San Migel and San Patrich, but Hickory Ridge-Indian Mounds seemed to be a winning ticket...hmmm...
  19. NOt a bad plan...getting a limit and catching 3 kickers each day will get you in the money!
  20. Im pretty sure that yall are talking about two different things. A longer rod will take more force from the angler, I agree, but it also moves more line, which equates to a better hookup percentage and it allows the fisherman to move turn the head of the fish because of this. This is why a longer rod lets you pull fish out of cover better. Picture this, a fisherman using a rod as long as a pencil. While it would take much less power to set the hook, the fisherman is only moving about six inches of line, which will result in lost fish. Also, as the fish gets close to the boat, moving the rod as long as a pencil from side to side will not hardly move the fish. But it the rod is 7ft. long, you could move 7 ft. of line which results in better hookups. Also, when the fish is by the boat, the angler can move the fish several feet just be moving the rod.
  21. There are plenty of good floros out there that would fit your need, but I would recommend 20lb Seagar Invisx...I just fished Lake Fork and my Invisx never broke on me and I was hauling 5-8lb fish out of very think cover. It is a great line, its managable, and very stout!
