  1. I could never buy another bait for the rest of my life and do just fine with what I have...but where's the fun in that??
  2. could be a bad seal allowing water to get inside...happened to me last week!
  3. I just got one in the mail using the upgrade program. I loved my premiere, but from the feel of the avid, it seems to be more tip heavy. I havent fished with it yet, so hopefully my impressions of it will change because I have only heard great things about this rod. What do you guys use this rod for? EDIT: I already have a Powell 704C that I love for T-Rigs and jigs, so what should I do with the avid?
  4. I have 2... 7' MM Carbonlite which is great for mid diving cranks 7' MHM Powell 703CB which is great for DD22 and also topwater baits such as chug bugs.
  5. These two baits are used for different things. If the fish are holding to the bottom, then a dropshot is ideal, but if they are suspended then the senko may work better. Its hard to catch fish in 20+FOW when they are tight to the bottom on a senko.
  6. The river comes up and restocks our lake every few years, but we have never gotten any carp in there. Maybe we have just been lucky so far.
  7. If I had a $1 for every big fish you've caught I would buy a Dobyns Champion rod with a Steez reel!!
  8. You need to teach me how to use a crankbait apparently!! Congrats to yall both...beautiful girl with two beautiful fish.
  9. Cool...and nice pic!
  10. 10 lbs 1 oz on a Zoom Trick worm and a 9 lb 14 oz on a Rage Craw both in the same day!
  11. We went to our camp on Sunday to pull it out (its a camper trailor) at the Saline/Larto complex. We figured the water would be just now pouring into the bayou it sits on, but boy were we wrong. The water was 3 ft. deep all around the thing, but luckily we had about 5" before it got in when we got there. By the time we hooked it up and pulled out we only had about 2" to spare. The flood will not affect many homes around me, but everyones camps will be under. I think our lake is suppose to be about 20' deeper when the river finally does crest! Its insane. But, the good news is that the lake will be restocked with fish and when the waters reside, there will be baitfish everywhere! Good fishin too when the water is falling.
  12. Normally I would just say that Saline is only 2 ft. deep lol, but not right now...man that water is stinkin HIGH and will only get higher. Check your transducer and make sure it is still pointing straight down.
  13. I would still think its a walking bait. It is probably something like a chug bug that can pop or walk, but most of the time I have better luck walking chug bugs so I would imagine this one would be the same way.
  14. I have never fished those before but from the looks of them, they look like a walk-the-dog type of bait.
  15. Very nice rig right there!
  16. Just warning you that a 20ft. boat w/250 hp motor cost much much more than the initial cost. For 35k you will probably have to buy used. The price that you see on the Nitros are not fully rigged, it is for bare minimun, the boat and motor. If you put anything on the boat, like electronics, hotfoot, recirculate pumps, ect., it will end up being well into the 40k's. The cost of running a boat like that is almost double running a 18ft w/150 hp motor and the upkeep can be a pain. Basically what Im telling you is check twice before you buy a boat and be realistic. For a first bass boat I would HIGHLY recommend buying one a little smaller. Just my 2 cents tho.
  17. I currently have a brand new, never been in the water, Nitro Z7 with a 150 Merc Optimax on the back taht I am looking to get rid of for real cheap. $22,000+ttl. It is valued at $26,000+ttl, but I am taking a cut on it because I won it in a tournament and have no need for another boat.
  18. I would throw a bluegill pattern starting out because I seem to catch bigger fish on that color. I guess that is because it takes a bigger bass to eat a big bluegill. If that doesn't work I would then swith to a white. As for trailers, Zoom Swimming Fluke or RI Skinny Dipper.
  19. Dude Im drooling just reading about the deal you found on these rods. As stated earlier, St. Croix rarely go on blow out like that. Eat it up while you can. If it were me, I would buy them all, see which ones I liked and sell the ones I didn't like for $200. And your idea of the trade up is right on. Great idea!! You'll get one of the best rods built for $200...cant beat that.
  20. Powell 704C is my go to rod...I love that thing, you can literally throw anything on that rod! Unfortunatly my battery fell on my rod Monday and broke it in three peices, but Powell warranty is great! They said just send it in with the $40 warranty fee and they will give me a new one!!
  21. I wouldnt say by "by far the most talented teams of thier times". Remember the Rockets in the 90's. They won 2 in a row. The Jazz and Supersonics were superior teams then too. If not for the Bulls, I say the Jazz win 3 or 4 in the 90's. Also remember before Phil the Bulls couldn't get over the hump. Phil comes, they win. Same for the Lakers. Before Phil, they couldn't do it, but Phil came and they began to win Championships.
  22. LFT Craw Tube
  23. I use a 7ft H rod with a 7:1 gear ratio reel spooled with 65lb braid. It serves both as my frog rod and my money hound rod. The money hound is a great bait, just have to learn to fish them. The are a little harder to walk than a spook, but once you learn, they walk good and catch big fish!!
  24. Yeah definatly save some more money. For $150 you can buy a decent combo. A Bass Pro Pro Qualifier reel with a Abu Garcia Vendetta rod would fit you nicely. Its almost impossible to find a combo for $50 thats worth anything. Save up over time...you will be much better off in the long run.
  25. Not complaining at all, heck, we won a BOAT!! Im still excited about it.
