  1. Not saying the call doesnt sound like a duck, but Ive never heard a duck that sounded like someone in a competition. They call too hard and long. But I agree that you can take thier call and make it sound good to a duck, just blow it differently.
  2. The .308 looses too much energy and drops dramatically after about 100 yards. Not a bad gun for short range, but not a smart choice for shooting deer across fields. The .270, 30.06, 7mm, .243, and .300 are much better.
  3. Its not too bad when shooting a deer, but sighting that thing in sucks!
  4. Haha...there is no relation between these topics, just got off topic for a bit, but I am pretty proud that the conversation stayed civil and though we didn't completely agree with one another, no one bashed the other. Good to see that we can civily disagree and can still respect one another.
  5. If you've seen the bass eat bream, catch a bream and put a 5/0 hook through its nose and fish with it. As far as artificail bait goes, I would try a swimbait.
  6. I love the Dobyns lineup, but I think I may prefer the Powell 704CB Glass rod for cranks. It handles all cranks beautifully, regardless of depth.
  7. Floro transmits vibrations on a slack line whereas braid does not, meaning you can feel a fish hit a bait on the fall with floro whereas you cant with braid if there is slack to allow the bait to sink vertically. I prefer straight floro for flipping and pitching, with the exception of punching. 20lb Invizx to be exact.
  8. If I have $20 a month to help out a cause, all $20 is going to go towards something that is helping out human lives.
  9. My calling actually sounds like a duck and not whatever it is those competition callers are trying to do. I use the Duck Commander Cutdown, DC Mule, DC Jesse's Duck Picker, DC Green Mile, and the Pintail/Wedgion whistle.
  10. Ive got all of the above minus the .270, but my brother has one of those. I use the 30.06 in wooded areas and the 7mm Weatherby Mag in fields. The 30-30 and .308 collect dust. If you look at the specs, the .308 is actually a terrible round.
  11. Hogs are great for roastin and all, but they are a big time nussance around here. My brother and I killed 147 of em the past two years. He got married last weekend and we roasted 7 of em for the reception . But, they eat all the acorns and root up everything. By January, the deer have nothing to eat in the swamp because of the dern things.
  12. White/Black back
  13. Also a weightless trick worm twitched just below the surface can be deadly!
  14. Yeah the boat lane in the Community Flats are gone from what I saw a few weeks ago, but its good to know the other lanes are good to run. Hopefully I wont hit anything and catch some fish!!
  15. Dang, thats some quality fish. Im just not too sure where to put in at. I want to fish some humps at the mouth of Housen and Six Mile, but Im scared to run across the lake from Pirates Cove because of the low water. Are the boat lanes still fairly safe around Housen?
  16. Alright Catt, I know you went, so how'd ya do? I didn't get to make it up there this weekend, but I may try to fish Wednesday night/Thursday morning.
  17. I have no problem with it...I have no problem with people killing any animal until abortion is banned. I much rather fight for the lives of humans rather than animals. Like those commercials with the starving dogs and beaten kittens, they just make me mad. There are billions of people who go to bed hungary every night and millions die from starvation, but they want me to feed a dog? No thankyou...I much rather help out a boy or girl.
  18. Its tough when the bait is so easily accessable. I fished in an oxbow last year where my blades on my spinnerbait wouldnt even turn because it was so thick with baitfish. Actually, on my way out I trimmed up the motor and gunned it and threw 1,000 of them suckers in the air . Normally when I find an area like that, I will crank it for a bit and then try a jig or plastics, but if I dont get bit within about 20 minutes, Im out of there.
  19. Cranks and a Rage Anaconda...
  20. I love my 734 Dobyns Savvy. I can literally do anything with it! Pflueger President 6.4:1 15lb Yozuri Hybrid
  21. I dont have a favorite...as long as it shoots and kills, it good for me! I rotate between a Mossburg 935 Magnum Waterfowl edition, an old Browning Auto5, a Stoeger P2000, and a Remington 870. All are 12 gauge and they have all killed too many ducks for me to count. I normally kill around 300 ducks a year myself, which considering the limit is 6 a day for a 60 day season (360 a year), I would say that aint too bad!
  22. We run yoyos and shoot hogs and coons at night with .22's all the time!
  23. Pflueger President can be found new at around $100 and is one heck of a reel.
  24. Ive got a Falcon Cara and a St. Croix Avid. The Cara blows the Avid out of the water!
  25. Where is that Catt? I know that picture isnt too recent, the waters too high.
