  1. Seems like you have gotten some pretty good reel advice, so I will chime in on the rod. Buy as good of a rod as you can afford. As far as a multi-purpose rod goes, you cant beat a 7' MH/F rod.
  2. Hey guys I am in need of upgrading my spinnerbait/topwater rod. Right now I am using a 6'9" Vendetta and it works, but I am looking for something a little less stiff. I like the length of 6'9" for these techniques, but Im not sure which rod to get as I have never used either. I would think the Crucial Reaction series would handle my 3/8 spinnerbaits/chug bugs/buzzbaits and it sounds like the right rod. Matter of fact I was set on it until I found the Loomis JBR813C for $148. Now Im confused. Will the Loomis work for these application? Or am I better off with the Crucial? If not either, what do you suggest?
  3. 1. 10 lbs 1oz Zoom Trick Worm (Clear/Pepper flake) 2. 8 lbs 14oz Rage Tail Craw (Wtml/Red) 3. 8 lbs 4oz Grande Bass Rattlesnake (Trophy Hunter) 4. 7 7lb+ fish on Chug Bug, Buzzbait, Red Eye Shad, Rage Craw, Swim Jig
  4. Keep optimistic. Those things work. I like to fish em slow rolled on points and through sparse grass.
  5. Dark colors under dark conditions. Junebug, Black/Blue, Blue Saphhire, Green Pumpkin all work well when it is cloudy.
  6. I dont doubt there is tungsten in the rod, just not enough to do anything or it would weigh a ton.
  7. I use the Skinny Dipper, Shadalicious, and LFT Live Magic Shad. The LFT Live Magic Shad is probably my favorite, but the Skinny Dipper can be hard to beat at times.
  8. Try the other Rage products too! They are the bomb...I love the craw and lobster, toad, and anaconda. If I have a pole rigged with a T-Rig, you can bet it will be a Rage Tail.
  9. A Bomber Fat Free Shad Jr. would be perfect for that, just guide it through the cover and hold on!
  10. We got almost 8 inches here in Central LA last time I checked. Hopefully some of that made it to the Bend! Im lovin this cooler weather, makes me ready for some fall fishing up there.
  11. I dont own a Duckett, but I LOVE my Savvy 734!
  12. Yeah your right. Ive never seen anything over 8lbs come out of Saline. But there are a ton of 5-6lbers come out of there every Feb.-April.
  13. Im still bitter that you didnt stop and buy one of my stuffed animals!!
  14. I have both the Savvy 734 and a Powell 704C and they are both super sticks. That being said, the Powell is just a better C-rig rod than the Savvy. The Powell is more powerful and sensitive, which are the two most important things for a C-Rig. I do admit though, the Savvy fits the hand better and is slightly lighter. Like I said, both phenominal rods, but I would lean towards Powell.
  15. 7' MH/F is the most versitale rod there is. It would make a killer spinnerbait rod, a good topwater rod, you can throw plastics on it, jigs, hollow body swimbaits, and C-rigs. Use it for whatever you need at the time. I would leave the 14lb floro on it and use it for all of the above with the exception of topwater (because of the floro).
  16. I flip alot of Cypress trees and deeper grass this time of year and have had pretty good success. I recently caught a 6 lber and a 5 1/2 lber on a Rage Lobster.
  17. I would wait for a Labor Day sale and buy a Powell 704C or a 705C. Both are great rods. Light, sensitive, and just fun to fish with. I personally rather have the 704C for C-Rigs, but you may opt for the 705C if you throw heavier weights.
  18. My mounted fish is 24" and she weighed 10.1 lbs.
  19. Either a Veritas 7' M/F spinning or a Crucial 7' M/XF Casting model.
  20. No I dont idle much at all. I usually pour in the oil, lets say 1/4 gallon and then put in Quickleen, then stabil, then I put in the gas. Ive heard the Mercury oil smokes alot and Ive seen it with my engine.
  21. I hooked a bull red and my dad was reeling in his line and while I was fighting the redfish, he turned and surged after my dads bait and ate it too! Stupid fish knew he was hooked, but just didnt care. Its alot easier reeling in a redfish with two rod and reels tho.
  22. Im so used to 115 heat index Im afraid Im going to get cold when the weather is in the 80's
  23. I have a 95 Mariner 200 EFI that I recently took off the oil injection and now mix gas and oil. Since doing this about 2 months ago I have only put Mercury oil in the tank and it smokes really bad and Im on my 3rd set of spark plugs. What oil can I mix with that will burn cleaner with less smoke and longer spark plug life?
  24. I have a Veritas, Vendetta, and Carbonlite and there is no doubt in my mind that the Carbonlite is the best rod of the three. Super light and super sensitive. 7' MH/F would suite you well.
