  1. Great deal...I have 2 Presidents and they are fine reels. Glad to hear an honest man getting a bargain.
  2. Does anyone not use stabil in their gas?
  3. 1448...and probably done for the year. I wanted 1450, but only caught 4 this morning instead of the 6 I needed.
  4. I hunt on Catahoula Lake. The entire lake is about 2 1/2 feet deep with wild oats growing in it. It is one of, if not the best duck hunting lake in America. The downfall to that is that there are blinds every 275 yards apart across the lake. There must be between 600-700 blinds on the lake. You have to have atleast 500 decoys to compete out there. It gets expensive and time consuming, but its well worth the 476 ducks I killed out there last year.
  5. I have a 1995 200hp Mariner that I had to rebuild the ECU on. Its the big black computer box that sits in the front of the motor. There should be 2 nuts on the top and a bolt on the bottom holding it on, atleast on mine. I would suggest sending it to Simon Motorsports in CA. He did mine for $500 with a 1 year warranty. The next cheapest option would be buying a Bracatos ACU unit to fit your motor. I have heard nothing but good things about them, but they are $1000. A new ECU will be $1700 or so. Mine was rebuilt in March and Ive had no problems from it since.
  6. Its according to how heavy the cover you are fishing. Powell makes a great trap rod. Its a TW special. I also like the 703CB Glass in a little more open water. My Dobyns Savvy 734 works great rippin em out of thick grass and has a soft enough tip to cast em a mile.
  7. The launch at White Oak isnt bad. I have a 97 Dodge 1500 2wd that has no problems pulling out my 20 ft. Nitro there.
  8. 20lb floro would do the job just fine. I throw 15lb for squarebills and spinnerbaits without any breakage problems and it is in some pretty thick Louisiana junk.
  9. Im all for it.
  10. For a week. Leaving in about 8 hours with my church heading to Haiti to build houses and doctor the sick. Prayers appreciated.
  11. Dang man Im glad your ok. Where were yall when it happened?
  12. Congrats on getting accepted!!! Who cares what your parents think, this is your decision and only YOU can do this. Now go to Mississippi St. (Im an LSU guys, so NO ALABAMA ) and show em what your made of.
  13. I voted crankbait/spinnerbait because I thought it was closest to a jerkbait.
  14. Opens November 19th here and I cant wait. I have about 600 decoys to tie up between now and then.
  15. I have eaten coon quite a few times and its pretty good. It makes a good gravy and goes well in a gumbo. We trapped some nutria last week on our property and for the opening day of duck/deer season we are gonna roast one...the jury is still out on that one!
  16. Talk about line visibility...
  17. Rod: 8/10 (never used it, but I hear its a nice rod although Im not a huge St. Croix fan) Reel: 9.5/10 (LOVE this reel...just wrong hand ) Line: 6/10 (Never used braid for cranking, but it seems it would work for deep weeds, but I dont like power pro braid much) My light crankin combo: Rod: 7' M/M Carbonlite Reel: Shimano Curado 200B5 Line: 12lb Suffix Seige
  18. That would be a great idea if you didnt have to put a reel on it. All rods are tip heavy because they need a reel to balance them out. Different rods like different reels. For instance, my AVC70MHF likes a heavier reel than lets say my Dobyns 734C. The Avid needs a heavier reel because its a little more tip heavy than the Dobyns. If the rod was balanced perfect without a reel, it would become butt heavy with a reel.
  19. Went back today. My dad and I were suppose to leave at 4 this morning, but my grandpa ended up having to get a pacemaker put in at 6:30 so we waited around for that. He didnt get through surgery until 1:00 p.m. so we headed out then. Got on the lake about 3:30 p.m. and fished till 7:00. Caught 38, biggest being around 3lbs. Caught them on spooks, pointers, and a RES.
  20. THey work! I havent used the Sebile crank, but I have been doing this same thing for years. First, take off both trebles. Then attach a second o-ring to the back of the crankbait. Finally put on a 3/0 EWG with a grub t-rig style on it and you have a weedless crank that works great in deep grass.
  21. Look on Ebay and get a Curado E! Great reel at a great price. THey are going for $120-$130 NIB.
  22. Both are great rods for the money. I personally like vendetta a little better because I have not broken one, but I have broke one veritas. The Veritas is a little lighter and maybe a hair more sensitive though.
  23. Would ya'll suggest getting the PQ for $80 or the Lews Speed Spool for $90?
  24. I think it looks neat, but would just be situational. It seems like it would work well in the fall and summer on schools.
  25. I could probably find some place to put them to use...
