  1. Its according to what you want to do with them. Swimming jigs are deadly around shallow vegetation. Football jigs are great for rocks and flippin jigs are used for fishing wood and flipping grass. I would buy one of each. A jig is only $3 or so so go ahead and give em all a try.
  2. I second getting some 3/8 and 1/2 oz spinnerbaits. I like War Eagle spinnerbaits. Tandem for murky water and double willow for clear water. Also, I would try out a pack of Strike King Rage Craws. They are my top producing plastic. Maybe a 1/4 and 3/8 oz Cavitron Buzzbait in either white or black. A pack of 4/0 Gamakatsu EWG hooks and a pack of 3/0 Gamakatsu EWG hooks. A 3/8 jig or two in black/blue and Bama Craw
  3. Buy some Timber Tigers...they can dive 12ft and come through cover like a dream.
  4. Thats awesome!!
  5. You are right, florocarbon does have some memory, but it can be handled with KVD Line and Lure. Just spray it on when spooling and once every trip and it will take care of most memory problems. Yozuri Hybrid Ultra Soft has almost no memory and low stretch compared to mono. As for mono, Suffix Seige stretches a pretty good bit, but it has almost no memory.
  6. I have the AVC7MHF and it feels like a Heavy rod, not Medium Heavy.
  7. Try Yozuri Hybrid Ultra Soft on your spinning reels and Sunline Shooter floro for one baitcaster and either braid of mono for your other. I have went to 75% floro on all my rigs. I use braid strictly for punching grass and frogs and I use mono strictly for topwater and crankbaits.
  8. I dont understand how people say that every game counts except for the "Game of the Century". Sure it counted. If OSU would have handled thier business against Iowa St. we wouldnt be having this conversation. If OSU was in the title game then you could say, "Every game counts, oh, except that OSU vs Iowa St. game." OSU was in the driver seat and screwed it up. Shame on them...not the BCS.
  9. You found a keeper already. I have used Suffix Performance Braid, Suffix 832, PowerPro, Stren Sonic Braid, and Hi Seas Grand Slam Braid. The two Suffix braids are by far my favorite.
  10. That already happened...2004. Oklahoma, USC, and Auburn all undefeated. Auburn was left out of the title game.
  11. The BCS is the best ranking system college football has ever seen. Do you want to go back to using 2 seperate polls where at the end of the year there can be/will be 2 seperate national champions. A playoff system is not practical in college football. The reason the BCS works is because it forces teams that want a shot at a National Championship to schedule tough games (LSU vs Oregon), and win during the regular season. The BCS is not the problem. It is an unbias computer that ranks teams based on numbers, which never lie. The problems lie within the rules of the BCS bowl games. They have to get 2 non-BCS automatic bids in there and can only have 2 from a conference. Everybody knows the SEC deserved 3 in the BCS bowl games this year (LSU, BAMA, Arkansas). The automatic bids from conferences is what is a joke (Clemson and West Virginia). I think it should be #1 vs #2 for the National Title. #3 vs #4 for a BCS game. #5 vs. #6 for a BCS game. And #7 vs. #8 for a BCS game. Clemson, Michigan, VT, and West Virginia DO NOT deserve to be in there this year.
  12. If you fish heavy cover I would opt for the Heavy rod, but for most uses of plastics and 3/8 oz jigs, a MH/F will serve you well.
  13. Ah!! I see it now. They look great...gonna have to get me some of these!
  14. What's the difference between these and Wtml/Red? They look the same to me.
  15. Im telling you guys...at least give the Phenix Recons a look. Itll be worth it I promise
  16. Also look at the Abu Garcia Vendetta. Its a great rod that you can occasionly find for $50
  17. I like 20lb floro for jigs. I use to use 50lb braid, but I can feel a bite on slack line with floro whereas I couldnt with braid.
  18. I either use straight braid or straight floro. I see no need to tie more knots than necessary and increase the risk of breakage. Your line is only as strong as its weakest part and many times that is the knot. I dont feel that I loose much sensitivity with floro, especially since it tranmits better on a slack line. The only time I use braid is for heavy grass or froggin.
  19. I have the Stoeger M2000 and i would not buy it again. LIke 00 mod said, it doesnt cycle very good and the firing pin doesnt hit hard enough to fire some shells. It will not shoot Kent Fasteel at all through it. It was the most comfortable gun I've ever held, but the dern thing just doesnt want to shoot. Im back to shooting my old Auto 5 and Mossberg 500
  20. Catt has been gone for a while around here. It sure is quiet without him. Hope all is well.
  21. Sounds like 25lb braid for the main line to me. I tried braid for the main line and didnt like it as much as I thought I would. I went back to 20lb floro and it does the job superbly!
  22. I just got in a new Phenix Recon 765 and it feels awewsome. It's lighter than the Dobyns and from the reviews, super sensitive and definately cooler looking. + its $100 less!!
  23. Just make sure they dont have something that you cant release...
  24. I dont have any dogs. I either push the boat out to chase cripples or just hop out of the blind and pick up the dead ducks. I always bring my gun with me out of the blind and usually end up killing a couple while Im in the decoys.
