  1. No, they're not breaking the surface. They are still kinda scattered and sitting close to bottom in about 10 FOW out there.
  2. If I dont fish it I may give you my spot...PM me about a couple days out and we will see.
  3. Man I've been wanting to get back in the Magee Flats. I caught some schoolers there a couple weeks ago. Look for schools of fish on the main lake point on the north side of the flats and on the humps just south. They are there...I promise!
  4. Ive been fishing DEEP! 15-25 seems to be holding alot of fish right now. AND, dont overlook even deeper water...
  5. I hit up Sibley Lake in Natchitoches yesterday morning. The bass fishing was tough. I found one point holding some small bass and caught 8 little fish. I then ran to a spot where I caught some stripers a month ago and found some, it was just hard to keep up with the school. Ended up catching 8 stripers, biggest going about 5lbs. All my fish were caught off of a crankbait and A-rig.
  6. I may be at the MacDonalds Tx. I have been on some good fish the past 2 weeks, so Im thinking about giving it a shot. I just really dont want to fight the crowds. I went back to Toledo Wednesday and Thursday and the fish were still there thick! Wednesday I could see them all over my graph, just couldnt get em to bite. Ended up with 22 fish. Caught on jigs, deep diving cranks, and A-rig. Thursday I got back on em around 3:00 and fished until dark. Finally found a school willing to bite and I caught 80 fish with one 7lber and two 4lbers. The rest were just chuncky 2-3lb fish. Same pattern. Deep diving cranks and an A-rig. It was too windy to fish a jig, I had to run my 101lb thrust Minn Kota on 90 all day just to stay put.\ Good luck to yall who are fishing the MacDonalds!
  7. Jerkbaits, wacky worms, top water plugs just to name a few
  8. Stand as far away from the fish as you can. If you see her, she sees you. Cast a lizard on her nest and leave it there. Usually, after repeated casts like this, the big momma will get mad and finally bite. Ive also seen days that a 4.5in senko type bait will kill em!
  9. I wish I had a picture...heck I wish I had a graph capable of taking screen shots, but all I have is a Eagle Fishmark 320 and a Humminbird 565. Pretty basic stuff, but the Humminbird has a really good sonar. The entire screen was black from the bottom to about 5ft deep in 40 FOW!
  10. THe Dobyns 784ML rod is a GREAT football jig rod. Also, I like a little tip on a football jig rod as to let the fish inhale the jig. I like a XF tip for flipping and pitching a jig though.
  11. If your shying away from a fluke in thick grass then your missing out on one of the best grass bites! Once fish get off of a frog, I'll throw a fluke in the same areas and drag it ontop of the grass and let it fall in the holes. Catches alot of fish and some big ones too!
  12. If i was buying today...it would be the Powell Diesel!
  13. I stayed there years ago...we fished a place called Dogwood Creek and caught alot of trout. It was pretty fun. Also, there is two ponds that you can go to that is stocked full of trout. They are pretty close by, I just dont remember the name of the place, but it is a blast for the kids. I think you pay per hour or per fish, but it was alot of fun for me as I was only about 10 at the time that we went.
  14. Thanks guys! Im still excited from that day. Im going back Wednesday and Thursday of this week. If I can just have 1/4 of the day I had last week I'll be happy!
  15. Just 2 weeks ago I got my ARIg hung in about 10 FOW in Toledo Bend. Off came the clothes and I jumped in. Swam down the line until I hit a stump with my hand and unhooked my ARig off of it. Shoot, I probably had $35 invested in that thing!! I didnt have a choice...
  16. Looks like u need a good crankbait setup. Look into the new powell deisel rods, they have a nice crankin stick in there and pair it with a bps pq 5:1 gear ratio reel.
  17. A few 3-3.5lbs but a ton of 2lb fish.
  18. Pic now added. Wish I would have had a camera on the lake to take a picture of the 8.5 and other big fish. I threw back all fish that had eggs and kept those 3 big girls to put in my pond.
  19. Ok I have a pic...just dont know how to post it! Somebody please help!
  20. Well, I dont post my trips on here very often. I've had quite a few days in the past couple years where I have caught 100+ fish, not to mention the 10.1, 9, and 4 over 8 I've caught in that span. BUT, I figure that today was worthy of posting. I went to my favorite fishing hole (yeah right, like yall dont know where that is) and got there about noon yesterday. Fished my first spot with only one short fish to show for it. Went out to some humps and ridges I knew about throwing a crankbait. Looked at my graph and finally saw a fish and boom...hooked up. I immediately threw out a marker bouy. I trolled about 50 yards further and hooked up agian. Looked at my graph and I was in 30 FOW and the screen was filled with fish from 30 foot down to the surface. Threw out another bouy and began fishing the two schools. Caught a few on the crankbait, but wasnt what I wanted, so I picked up a **** and started catching fish every cast. I doubled up about 30 times and tripled twice (Now can you figure out what I was throwing?) Ended up catching around 300 fish in 7 hours. My top five went 35lbs. Had a 8.5, two 7's, and two 6's. Oddly enough, about half the big mommas were post spawn and the other half still had eggs. I figured all the big fish had layed by now, but I was wrong apparently. About half the fish I caught were white bass and the other half was black bass. Even got one good striper to top it off (like it needed topping off!!). I've had some absolutely ridiculous days in my life, but nothing that even compares to yesterday. I got a couple pictures taht my aunt took, hope to get them this weekend to post. If anybody wants a trip...I charge $300 a day.
  21. Yea, it was just one of those days! Probably the best day I'll ever have. And it looks like it just going to keep getting better. Cant wait until the fall bite in September/October! Thats my favorite time to fish out there.
  22. An A-Rig...then I could fish 5 lures at one time!!
  23. NOt sure of a place to stay, but my buddy caught over 100 twice last week out there.
