  1. Ive got a feeling the river will be tough next week. Gonna be a grind for sure.
  2. Powell squarebill rod is sweet!
  3. Keep at it Henry...I've got my butt kicked more times than I dare to mention. It takes time and practice, but it will pay off!
  4. I go into my local academy every week and walk the aisles looking for clearance items. They will put things on clearance for ridiculous prices. Just last week I bought some Excaliber sqaurebills for $.99 and a couple Diawa Zillian Type R's for $199.98. They are also starting to carry Roboworms and Missle D-Bombs. The H2O mettle is the best $50 reel out there and you can find them on sell many times for $39.99 too, so make sure to check them out. Suffix Camo braid is on sale right now for $6 a spool, reg $19.99. They are clearing out all the camo braid here apparently. Just keep your eyes open to the clearance stickers!
  5. So if the tire is rated for 65 psi, but I drive 75 mph, I need to put 75 psi in it?
  6. The Community Hole at the mouth of Housen/White Oak should have some fish on it right now!
  7. I' use em all. I like the spro, strike king red eye shad, and the excaliber one knockers, but my favorite is the lucky craft Lv. They all work though. Also, I have had best luck with a red/orange color.
  8. Happy birthday Catt!! I fished from 11-330 today. Had to wait on my boat getting done so I didn't start as early as I would have liked. But I did manage to catch 6 fish, all 2.5-3.5lbs. Caught em on jerk baits fished SLOW and a red trap in 12-15 ft over grass.
  9. Ive got a new Dobyns 805CB w/Diawa Tatula, a Powell Squarebill rod w/Pflueger Patriarch, Powell 705CEF w/Diawa Zillion Type R, and a Powell TW Jerkbait rod.
  10. Yep, tackle warehouse.com is where you can find Powell rods. BUT, there is a store in Alabama called The Fish Ranger that sells them for much cheaper. The Fish Ranger website has been down the last couple months, but their ebay store is up and running. If you try going to thefishranger.com it will come up with an error, but give you the phone number to the store and you can call and talk to the owner and order. Thats what I do. Plus the Powell Endurance, which is MSRP is $200 sells for around $130 at the fish ranger. The closest place that carrier Powell rods around here is Bayou Outdoors in Bossier City if you want to get your hands on one, or if your ever around Pineville give me a holler and you can swing by and see mine if you would like.
  11. I have a duckett and a cumara and both are fine rods! Once you get in the $150-200 range you can't really go wrong, but I prefer the Powell endurance 714c. I liked it so much I bought 2! Heck of a jig rod IMO.
  12. I should be up there Friday to get a line wet. Hoping the wind lays down and it's not freezing!!
  13. Yep, my boat should be good to go. Im picking it up from Toledo Fiberglass this week!
  14. You are probably thinking of the Cleo pond in Mansfield. You must be a Cleo employee or with an employee to fish it. I don't really call that fishing tho, it's catching! My dad has a 12.8lber on his wall from that pond. There are dd bass caught there nearly everyday in the spring and it's only a few hundred acres big. I've fished it a few times, never caught a dd, but my buddy did one day and we caught numerous 5-9lb fish. Plus when the bass slow down, I've caught 3lb white perch on dd22s by the dam!
  15. Cleo lake was the best lake in the state in the 90's IMO. There is a 14-17" slot and it was nothing to catch 50 fish a day with your top 5 going 25lbs. They put carp in there around 2000 and it hasn't been the same. The fish are still there I guess, but it only takes 6-7lbs to win a tx out there now. Sad really.
  16. Early February...
  17. Yep...one of mine was in a tube and the other in the triangular box. The boxed rod was broken at the tip!!!
  18. As long as my boat is fixed and it's not freezing, I'm in!
  19. Yep, I recognize Bullet20 and Ronnie from the other site too. I need to make a trip to the Bend, but have to get my boat worked on at Toledo Fiberglass first!
  20. Happy Thanksgiving to all! I am extremely thankful for all the reports and tips posted in this thread and the friendships made because of it. Hope to meet some of yall on the water one day! Now back to killing ducks!!!
  21. Duck season has been open for 5 days now and we have killed 139 ducks out of my blind so far. Been a good start to the season so far!
  22. That Powell endurance 714c is the best all purpose rod I've used!
  23. Hunting for me. Gotta fill the freezer
  24. I usually fish 12-20 fow, but have caught em out to 35 ft, just not often
