  1. Not sure, but I think north is fishing better right now. Most fish were caught on a trap or blade up shallow.
  2. Well, today went about how I expected. After the warm week, the water was up to 56 on the main lake and 60+ in the back of creeks. Saw all the sharelunkers came in shallow water this week, but was too hard headed to go up there. I stayed deep all day on the main lake, caught 15.81lbs which put me in 53rd place out of 277 boats. Apparently everyone stroked em on traps shallow, I just can't stand to do that lol. 26+ won it
  3. Awesome fish Wesley! Congrats
  4. I've been to e mound numerous times the past few weeks. Haven't caught a fish there. With that said though, I know they have to be getting close to moving up on the mounds, the water has just been stained around there.
  5. Yes! Amy lipless crankbait is good and if you can find some wood a square bill can be great too right now.
  6. Bassinhog, I find areas on my map then graph them with my sidescan to pinpoint exactly where the points, drains, ect are. Sometimes I can see fish on my graph and other times I can't. I don't let that determine whether or not I fish that spot though. I find high per eagle areas and fish them, if I don't get bit in 10 minutes or so I move on. As far as patterns go, I wish I could give you a better heads up on what's going on out there. All I can say is think shallower than you'd expect.
  7. It can only get better!
  8. Six Mile C-Rig, of your only gonna catch two fish, that's two good ones to have! I'd love 2 4lb fish right now, just need 3 3lber to go with em lol. I don't understand what's going on out there. Like you said, the fish are there, they just won't bite ANYTHING! Put your head down and keep at it I guess. Jcdogfish, that's about what I figured was shallow. Awesome job finding them! I just can't comprehend where the big fish are.
  9. Did you have any size up shallow?
  10. We are going out of cypress bend. I'm sure there will be 250+ boats there.
  11. Well, fished again today. Really struggled most of the day but got on a decent pattern late. Caught 5 fish for about 15lbs. I'll be back tomorrow to see if I can run that pattern all over and en it goes off limits next week. I'll share more after basschamps next Saturday.
  12. They don't make a Raybirn Red trap for nothin...make sure you buy some Raybirn red and Toledo gold (which is more of a red) in 1/2 and 3/4 oz sizes.
  13. Glad to hear you got a job Wesley! I couldn't imagine belong laid off all of a sudden.
  14. Bassinhog, I don't pay much attention to water temp. I very rarely fish grass flats. I'm more or less looking for grass irregularities. Points, holes, patches, inside grass line, outside grass line ect. Most of the time I start on the outside grass line fishing points and work my way in from there. Very rarely can I not find fish on the outside grass line points. Every once on awhile, maybe after a front, I'll punch in the heavier stuff, but for the most part I'm working offshore grass points.
  15. A bait with a micro camera in it that is connected to my depth finder. That way I can watch everything happening out there and see a fish swim up to take a bite!
  16. I've got nothing to report lol. Fished all day, 2 bites. I may have been able to move to the banks and catch a few with the muddy water, but I stayed deep looking for big mommas for basschamps on the 14th. The lake is really in a funk right now. Water is stained to muddy everywhere. Even at the dam it has a stain to it like I've never seen before. Back of creeks is chocolate milk. Water temp was 52 on the lake and up to 60 in creeks.
  17. I have spent extensive time with the arig the past few years. I have learned how to correctly fish it. Most people think just as you do, they just chunk and wind. There are days that you can catch fish doing that, but that is NEVER the most efficient way to fish it. I have fished numerous tournaments that the arig was allowed in and never heard the first complaint about it. If it's legal for anyone to use, then it's not unfair, your the only one to blame for not throwing it. The most important factor is still being around winning fish. If you aren't around big fish, dynamite won't work. It's funny that everyone claims anyone can win tournaments on the arig, but when I look at weekly tournament winners, it's the same guys as before. They may have caught them on the arig, but they are still better at finding fish and getting the to bite. Go look at basschamps results. See if you recognize the same names on top. If anyone could do it and it took no skill, why wouldn't just anybody be winning these tournaments?
  18. I have owned that st. Cross, powell, and dobyns. The dobyns is great for moving baits, but lacks sensitivity in my hands. The croix was sensitive, but man that rod just felt horrible in my hands. Super tip heavy. The powell fishes like a dream. Very similar to the dobyns champion 734 IMO. Stiffer tip than the savvy and more sensitive to me.
  19. Powell max 3d 734 is what your looking for
  20. I'm planning on heading up there Thursday to fish. Man the weather looks awesome!
  21. I have a tournament out there the weekend prior, so hopefully I'll already be on some fish!
  22. I should be there Friday and Saturday. Look forward to meeting y'all and catching some fish!
  23. They said they had over 25lbs in the live weep in the first 30 minutes!
