  1. The TRD does have salt in it. Just stretch it some and rub the salt out.
  2. Heres the show my dad and I shot.
  3. The key for me in buck creek has always been the deep grass line. In years past I've fished hydrilla grass lines in as much as 28 ft of water. Also, punching deep hydrilla has been pretty productive for me in years past. This year, the grass isn't out nearly as deep so I've focused more on channel swings in buck. I haven't spent a ton of time in there this year, but the fish I have caught have all been in 25-35ft on channel swings close to the flats on the north side.
  4. I like fishing buck during early pre spawn. There are so many big points with creeks running next to them on the north side. It's also one of the best creeks for sight fishing in the spawn as it stays clear and has plenty of grass for fish to make beds in.
  5. 12-15lb floro will be perfect.
  6. That's a pretty big range. For 1/4-3/4 oz baits I like 12lb floro, and for 3/4-2oz I like 16lb floro.
  7. The red river has been messed up for 2 years now with high water. There are numerous "must fish" lakes here in central Louisiana IMO. Salve/Larto can be great fishing and is one of the prettiest lakes in the area. Black lake is a flippers dream lake as it is FULL of cypress trees. Cane River has more bass per acre than any other lake in LA. And of course, Toledo Bend is the best lake in the US. Give me at holler one day and we can hook up and go to any lake you want.
  8. I appreciate the offer., but I'm about to leave for a mission trip to Alaska, so I won't be needing a boat for the next week and a half anyway.
  9. I wish I could help out on the basin, but I've never fished it. Once you get up to central LA I've fished most every lake, but nothing south of Indian creek for me.
  10. I know it now lol
  11. I tried to fish yesterday afternoon and night, but I changed my spark plugs and cross threaded one of them. Now waiting on a new head to come in and be put on my boat.
  12. Any 7'3" H/F rod will do. If you don't mind a longer rod for your frog, the Powell max 3D 775 is sweet!
  13. If you pitch and flip grass, it would be 65lb suffix 832 braid. If it's mostly wood and rock it would be 20lb sniper floro.
  14. I fished Saturday and struggled. Caught 22 bass, had a 4lber and a 3lber and the other 20 were dinks. I stayed in 20-30 ft. Went shallow, but never caught a fish up there. Had 4 blow up on a frog, but wouldn't eat it.
  15. I fish Toledo Bend a lot. I live 2 hours away, so I don't get up ere as much as I wish, but make the trip almost weekly. One thing I am noticing lately is that the same DD bass are being caught from the same areas. Ere are community holes such as the Indian mounds, housen bay, and Magee flats that are fished hard and that's where the majority of these big bass are being caught. What I try to do is find unnoticed spots near the Sabine River and fish for bass that hasn't seen a thousand lures already. By doing is, I have caught 3 DD bass, but there is no telling how many more are swimming around in the 100,000 acres of the lake that never gets fished.
  16. If you like a long leader I would suggest a 7'6" - 8' rod. I use a Powell max3d 775 and a Dobyns 784. 20lb sniper for main line with a 16lb sniper leader. I don't like to use braid as a main line because it has zero stretch, therefore putting all that stress on the 2-3' leader line.
  17. I'd call Humminbird and ask them tomorrow to make sure whatever you buy has Toledo bend in HD. I have had my lakemaster chip for a few years and Toeldo isn't HD on it. They just started offering it in HD, so I downloaded just Toledo Bend off the Humminbird website for $30 in HD.
  18. I've caught many fish using a 10lb floro leader with the Ned rig. It'll work!
  19. Basscat Puma FTD...I love it!
  20. I carry 46-50 rods in my boat at all times. I may take one or two out and replace them with one or two other rods, but most all of my rods and reels stay in the boat. Last thing I want is to be out on the lake wishing I had a rod I left at home. I can't tell you how many times I've went out expecting to have a good bite in "this" bait, only to find out they were biting "that" bait. Luckily, since I have all my stuff in the boat, I just dig out the rod I need and catch fish.
  21. I throw 10xds religiously. I use a Dobyns 806cb with a daiwa tatula in 5:1 gear ratio. As for line, I like 16lb sniper of 10xds. I'll drop down to 12lb sniper for 5,6, and 8xds. The Dobyns 805 is better suited for 5,6 and 8xds.
  22. I use sunline sniper 12lb up to a 6xd and 16lb on a 10xd
  23. Yea I have 360 on the trolling motor too. I'm still learning it I guess. I like it in shallow water, but don't use it much out deep
  24. I've been debating on doing some guiding on Toledo for awhile now. My work schedule is pretty flexible and i could do one or two trips a week if there were enough people wanting to go. I'm no expert, but I've learned a lot about reading maps to find highly productive water then reading my graph to find cover and fish on structure. My cost for a trip to Toledo is about $100 as I'm 2 hour drive from the lake. If anyone is interested in setting up a trip, pm me on here and we can set up a day. It can either be a trip focused more on learning to locate and fish deep, or a trip more focused on catching fish. I would have to charge $325 a day to cover expenses and make up for not working that day. Let me know if you are interested. It sounds like you are on the right track. Look for breaklines with a creek running close by and cover on it. Not every hump and ridge are created equal. Some consistently produce fish while some are consistently bare.
  25. On the south end, the lakemaster chip is that much better. North of the Indian mounds its 5' counters, but from the mounds south it's 1' contours and pretty dead on accurate. Plus you can shade depths which really helps a lot too!
