  1. I've got a couple different squarebill combos and on one is either 12 or 15lb Big Game which has done well for me over the years, open water or rock/wood. I decided to try Yozuri Hybrid 10lb after several recommendations from here and I have it on one of my setups. I've only fished it a few times so no real conclusion yet but so far it seems like it will work.
  2. I'd love to see some pics.
  3. It's mentioned several times in this thread by others already. FleaBay
  4. You can't go wrong with any of the SLX line IMO. I bought a couple regular SLX's when they first released and they're still going strong. I already had several Curado K's and still use them but I prefer the smaller frame of the SLX because I have smaller hands. Oh, and the others are right. I've bought all my K's brand new for $150 or less.
  5. Well, I'm a packrat and really don't sell anything, fishing stuff, guns or knives. Oh well, they'll all get passed down one day to my kids. Whether they keep them or not is up to their discretion but it's looking like my 5 year old son is a spitting image of ol Dad lol so I see them sticking aroung.
  6. I've not owned an SLX MGL but I did buy a regular SLX shortly after they released and already owned a Fuego CT. I ended up selling the Fuego CT to a guy at work and bought a couple more SLX.
  7. I don't throw either of those techniques often but I do have a dedicated setup for each. Both are Sierra 734c rods and I've found when I do throw a vibrating jig or spinnerbait the 734 handles them great.
  8. I've got three different crankbait setups. Two have Curado K's, and one has a Chronarch MGL for smaller squarebills. I'm happy with all!
  9. As soon as I heard the news of the purchase this came to my mind. Very unfortunate because Sportsmans is a lot better than Cabelas and like you I buy my 6th sense crankbaits and RK 55's there. I've also gotten some really good deals on clothes and various other stuff over the years. Also, it's closer to my work than Cabelas and I can swing by no problem on my lunch break. Pretty bummed.
  10. I bought a bunch a few years ago when they were on sale for less than $2.00 each. Not sure but I think it was from Alixpress.
  11. I've got a specific Ned Rig outfit (spinning) and have been using 6lb Yozuri on it for a few years. No complaints.......
  12. Yeah, while the Fury series are great rods for the price, the Sierra is a huge step up IMO. Especially from now until the 8th when you can buy the Sierras for the price of a Fury. It's a no brainer, at least that's what the bait monkey says. Haha
  13. I forgot to ask, what reel do you have paired with your 853c? I have a Curado K on mine right now but got a new Curado 70 MGL XG for Xmas and it'll be paired with the 853c.
  14. Buy a Sierra, you can get them for the same price as a Fury right now!
  15. What?!? 1/2 oz jig plus trailer on the 853c? I just can't imagine it, haha. Are you fishing mainly open water, no way I could see it working in any type of cover. I'll take your word for it and try a 3/8 oz jig plus trailer again but no way on a 1/2 oz plus trailer. lol
  16. I hope so, lol. I just got one for Xmas and it's going on my 853c NRX. I'll be throwing light texas rigs and light jigs on it.
  17. I guess it's just me but I think my NRX 853c feels way too underpowered for even a 3/8 oz jig plus trailer. I only throw lighter 1/4 or 5/16 jigs plus trailer and lighter texas rigs on it.
  18. No way, only LH retrieve for me. I grew up fishing as a young kid and learned on a spinning reel so the LH baitcaster was a natural progression in my case. I'm right handed btw.
  19. Might have to give this a shot this winter. I've been pondering going the bonnet route because I'm a crankbait addict but this might be the better option.
  20. Stopped at my Local Tackle shop and noticed they have new packaging. No more stripper/female silouhettes. That made me a little upset. Luckily they had a mix of old and new packaging in some popular colors in the Sweet Beaver. I grabbed a bunch of the old packages.
  21. I have a dedicated Senko rod which I only throw weightless 5" and 4" Senkos, primarily texas rigged on a Gammy 3/0 EWG. The rod I have now is a 68 MXF Avid X which is an unbelievable Senko rod, but it hurts my hands so I have it on the market. I plan on replacing it with either an Expride 68 MXF, NRX 803s or the 822s DSR. I've also looked hard at the Poison Adrena but it's just such a weird rated rod IMO. I wish they had a rod between the 67 ML and the 611 MH. I really would like to try one especially since the reel I'm pairing with my Senko rod is a Stradic Ci4+ 2500 and the red/black on both rod and reel will look great.
  22. I love the names and "4:20" size! Also, love the sweet beaver, I only fish it texas rigged but need to try some other stuff with it.
  23. Yeah, since that lure is clearly what the OP is asking about. To OP, I'd start with the tried and true 6" Bull Shad.
  24. Hands down Dobyns Sierra 3 power, and right now is the time to buy. Oh, and don't forget to buy the gift card @ 10% off and then use it to buy the rod. Total of 40% off. I forgot to do the gift card on my first order yesterday but am going to order more today and use that trick.
