  1. I'm digging this one up from the grave hoping to one, get some recommendations and two because I'm stuck inside and about to go crazy. After this thread I ended up selling an older Loomis GL2 802S and replacing it with an Avid X 68 M/XF. While the Avid is a great rod and I've caught tons of Senko fish with it I just can't get over the reel seat. It hurts my hand after a short amount of time. I've also upgraded several of my casting rods to NRX's so I've been bitten by the bug. I'm trying to decide between the NRX 802s and the 803s. I prefer a shorter rod when it comes to spinning and fishing Senkos so pretty seat on either of those two. I fish mainly smaller creeks/rivers and lakes with submerged timber and stickups so leaning towards the 803s. I do occasionally fish a larger reservoir with a mix of rocky banks and open water. I'm only going to be buying one and it's a Senko specific rod, both weightless texas rigged and wacky rigged. Rod will be paired with a Stradic Ci4+ 2500 and 6lb YZH. Thanks in advance for any help. Have you ever used an 802s? If so how would you compare? Did you ever get that Conquest? What'd you end up getting and how do you like it?
  2. Interesting, none of mine have ANY of these issues.
  3. I sold my topwater reel spooled with 15# Big Game and swapped out an extra reel freshly spooled with 20# Power Pro. I don't like leaders and have never used braid for topwater. I'm too cheap to take the braid off the reel so I'm going to give it a shot. I hope it works.
  4. I only own three brands of rods at the moment. I like to buy USA made stuff whenever possible but honestly it doesn't bother me as much as others if it's not. I like quality stuff because I work hard for what I have. Loomis - USA St. Croix - USA Dobyns- China
  5. Tempting. I'm sure I can also stack a 20% on top of that.
  6. Yeah, your best bet is to buy a cheap digital scale. I got one off the bay for like $8. I mainly throw a 3/8 jig plus trailer and after buying a new jig rod a few months ago I quickly realized the total weight overpowered that specific rod. Now I throw lighter 1/4 or 5/16 jigs plus smaller trailers with that rod and I'm patiently waiting on a deal to grab another rod to throw 3/8 and 1/2 oz jigs plus trailer. It's a slippery slope, that old bait monkey is sneaky.
  7. Dang man, lol.
  8. Good deals but of course they don't have any LH 6 gear ratio K's.
  9. I mean, nobody could really fall for that right? LOL
  10. Yeah, that's unfortunate. First I've ever heard of them, but thanks for the heads up.
  11. Yeah, I've seen MUCH better deals haha. Thanks for letting me know so I don't waste my time.
  12. I only wacky and weightless Texas rig with the tried and true Senko. I use Trick worms weighted on a Texas rig.
  13. I like the EDGE series but the best crankbait boxes I've found is the Plano crankbait specific. They make several versions and they're 3600 size so they fit perfectly in my kayak side pockets and crate. Also, they have a slot so the trebles fit down inside and minimize tangles and rash. https://www.tacklewarehouse.com/catpage-PLANOSTRG.html?from=basres
  14. I'd say with all that's going on we'll see quite a few retailers offering sales/discounts to try and move some inventory. Oh, and still nothing here from SO about my rods. But, did get an email from them saying they had the order, so no biggie. I'll get them someday.
  15. Yeah, probably not fishing either size Keitech deeper than 5'. Thanks bud
  16. Do you use the weighted beast hooks or regular? I'm about to order some big Keitechs.
  17. I want to order an SLX MGL but afraid the wait is going to be too long. Might have to just get an XT in the meantime. d**n rona virus.
  18. I've never had an issue with sub $100 spinning reels and own several of them (a few Saharas, Sedonas and Nascis) But, I've never bought one in a clamshell package. Don't know why that would make a difference but who knows.....
  19. Thanks, exactly what I was looking for and with links too! Nice, thank. Thanks bud. No, still haven't seen the rod but did finally get an email saying they do have the order in their system and will ship soon. Nice, thanks.
  20. I'm new to swimbaits and took advantage of the Dobyns sale and grabbed a 795sb rod. I plan on using a spare Curado 201 K with mono to start out with, probably Big Game. I now need to buy some swimbaits to throw, and have limited my spending to $100. I plan on mainly throwing these in a smaller creek and lake I fish, both with plenty of standing and underwater timber, which I tend to lose treble hook lures quite a bit, even using lure retrievers. The other body of water I fish is a deep rocky bottom lake with some occasional timber. So, I'd like to cover all spectrums with several swimbaits. I do have my heart set on a S-waver 168s unless that's a bad idea? Looking forward to some suggestions on color choices and specific baits to take me down this swimbait rabbit hole. Yes, I've searched and read other threads but dang, this stay at home gig is driving me crazy.
  21. It was mentioned here and in multiple other threads, SO offered free shipping on Dobyns but Dobyns direct is $25. SO sale ended last week, Dobyns direct ends Monday at close of business.
  22. Call Dobyns direct, sale goes until the 6th. Unfortunately most rod models he listed are sold out.
  23. SO is no longer doing it but I thought I saw that Dobyns direct lasts until the 6th. Call them
  24. Heads up OP, certain site has Daiwa rods 20% off right now. Better hurry..... Or I believe the Dobyns sale is still going on til the 6th, call them direct.
