  1. I am in central Indiana, and I am fishing a pond at least 9-11 acres. I hope I am not going to be told that there are not going to be any larger fish, although after thinking about it it could be true. I have never fished a large lake or anything so I don't know. Thanks in advance.
  2. Ok, so I am now catching consistently many fish from 1.75 lbs to 3.1 lbs. But I just can't seem to pull out anything larger than that. Is there a secret to getting the big fish?
  3. Today I went out to a new pond that I have never fished before just to check it out. I was told that there weren't many fish in it, but i was in disbelief because this is a pretty good sized pond. My second cast of the day brings in about a 2.5 lb largemouth. I went on to catch 11 more fish after the first one. They were all largemouth and smallmouth. The biggest one was approx. 4.1 lbs. I also found out today why everyone loves senkos, because everyone of these fish were caught on a red senko. It seemed like I was catching fish every other cast. All in all it was a great day.
  4. I went to days ago, and the water was very clear. I could see 6 decent sized largemouth, but I could not get any of them to bite. I tried the senkos a frog and a spinner bait. I got out my swim bait, and caught a 2.4 lbs largemouth. That was after about 3 to 3 1/2 hrs of fishing. It was getting dark and the park was getting ready to close so I decided to quit while I was ahead. Comparing the size of the fish that I caught and some of the ones that I didn't, I'm guessing that one or two of them were around 4-5 lbs.
  5. Once again talking about those ponds after further inspection there seems to be a lot of weeds along the shallow part of the pond. Would it be better to throw a toad across it or throw one of my senkos in? I'll answer my own question here. "Go out and fish, figure it out on your own. You are over thinking it. So shut up, fish, and have fun."
  6. That makes a lot of since. Tomorrow I will try my 4'' senkos and see what happens. Happy fishing or catching in some cases to all.
  7. Hey everybody, I was riding my bike randomly through the country today scoping out good spots on the creek to fish, and i stumbled across a place called Fairfield lakes. It has three public ponds that are quite large. They are stocked with trout, largemouth bass (my target), bluegill, and crappie. I have never in my life fished a pond, so this may sound stupid, but is the strategy any different. And if your wandering how I have never seen this place before its because I have never rode in that direction before, pretty stupid but I'm glad I found it.
  8. Tomorrow I am going to a bait shop and am looking at getting some senkos and other bait, but I was also wandering wether there is a difference between a baitcasting reel and a spinning reel. My spinning reel has gotten some dirt in it so its not as smooth. Is it worth getting a baitcasting reel.
  9. So I am planning my trip to town for tommorrow and getting senkos is on my list. I started thinking and i remember that I had no idea how to rig or fish a senko. So does anybody have any advice? I have pretty much limited myself to tubes a few crankbaits, spinnerbaits, and a buzzbait. I have been on this forum for two days and am already learning a lot. You guys are awesome thank you.
  10. I caught my pb of 5.6 lbs on memorial day of last year. I thought it was going to be a lot bigger than that the way it was fighting, but it was just a tough smallie. my mistake guys I didn't see it said largemouth.
  11. My dad fishes but he just does the whole worm and bobber technique so I basically have to teach myself. I am quite good with the tube bait when I get out on the river. I have also taught myself how to use a spinner bait(big accomplishment there:) I am attempting to learn how to fish a senko but its rough. But on the bright side I'm not on my couch doing nothing, and I'm having fun. It is frustrating sometimes though.
  12. Hey guys, I have been down at the creek the past two days and I thought it looked a little higher than normal. So I checked on the internet to see how high it was, and it is about 8-10'' under the flood stage. I am assuming this is why I am not getting any bites. I am going to town this weekend to get some senkos because i have never fished them before. Thanks for the help
  13. So I am a fifteen year old guy who loves to fish. The downside of being fifteen is I cant afford a boat and even if I could, I could not take it anywhere. So the closest body of water that i can get to on my bike is a creek. The water is usually anywhere from 3 to 6 feet deep. Is there any way to consistently catch fish there? Any Tips? Oh and its been real muddy water lately.
