  1. you left out the st. croix avid - in my opinion the best value out there Well, I did say that the list was just a few. Yes, the Avids are a part of that list as well.
  2. So true. The fact is, the guy was as good or better than any bass fishermen out there past or present, KVD included. He didn't have to endorse the junk, he chose to. Sad when you're leary of a product he endorses because of that. I've still got a couple of raggedy, beat up, Blue Fox RM big bass spinnerbaits in my SB satchel and those things still catch bass to this day.
  3. If you hit the wiggle wart bite just right on Lake of the Ozarks, a big string is possible. Mine went a tad over 30lbs one day a few years ago. My fastest big string was around 18-20lbs in 20 minutes at the same lake.
  4. Bill Dance followed by Jimmy Houston and Al Lindner. I also enjoyed Hank Parker and Orlando Wilson.
  5. I have a 1986 Champion bass boat with a 1987 Yamaha OB. The whole thing is valued by the ins company at $5500 replacement. There's a $250 deductable. I've got $100,000 in liability. I pay $167 a year. This is through Safeco.
  6. IMO, the $150 price point of fishing rods is about as good as you're going to get. Going beyond that and you're just not going to see a return on the money spent. All Star Platinums Falcon Cara's Shimano Crucial's Quantum PT Tours Fenwick Techna AV's are just a few really great rods in that price point. It would be impossible to say that a rod that costs over twice the price of any of those would be worth that price in either sensitivity or construction. Not even close really.

  8. No Straubs?
  9. Sadly, it's not uncommon to hear about theft rings working lakes. Most of the time they're pulling smaller OB's off the back of small boats, pulling high end SS props, graphs/electronics and taking any fishing tackle that isn't locked up. Sorry to hear.
  10. They allow skiing on Mozingo?
  11. Bill Dance used the opening lines of Jerry's song "Today is mine" as his show opening theme song for many years. Today is Mine When the sun came up this morning I took the time to watch it rise. As its beauty struck the darkness from the skies. I thought how small and unimportant all my troubles seem to be, and how lucky another day belongs to me. And as the sleepy world around me woke up to greet the day, and all its silent beauty seemed to say: So what, my friend, if all your dreams you haven't realized. Look around, you got a whole new day to try. Today is mine, today is mine, to do with what I will. Today is mine. My own special cup to fill. To die a little that I might learn to live. And take from life that I might learn to give. Today is mine. With all men I curse the present that seems void of peace of mind, and race my thoughts beyond tomorrow and vision there more peace of mind. But when I view the day around me I can see the fool I've been. For today is the only garden we can tend. Today is mine, today is mine, to do with what I will. Today is mine. My own special cup to fill. To die a little that I might learn to live. And take from life that I might learn to give. Today is mine. Don't forget his great role in Smokey and the Bandit. He will be missed.
  12. The BPS crankin sticks are great rods for crank baiting. I'd suggest waiting for a sale to get an even better bargain.
  13. If I'm not mistaken, those 898's had a snap in carpet option. You might want to check with a Nitro dealer on that.
  14. After seeing this review I immediately cancelled my order of 3 E model Shimano's and switched to 3 Brand X's. I know I won't regret it.
  15. They are definitely not the end all of jerk baits. I've had Rogues and Rapala's outfish them on numerous occasions. OTOH, there have been times that the LC's out did those other 2. I don't think I'd break the bank buying them. As with any baits, use common sense and buy a few in popular colors and sizes.
