  1. I've dropped my rod in the water twice while fishing. One sank to the bottom and I managed to catch the other before it disappeared. Is there anything out there that I could buy and attach to the butt of my pole that won't be too bulky and that will keep my pole from sinking??
  2. always a plus when you find a new place that produces good fish
  3. shhhhhh. :-X Well, after seeing the monsters you catch, you can bet your sweet tail I'm makin me one of them necklaces just in case..
  4. Did anyone open up Yahoo and see how Jose Canseco absolutely embarrassed the crap out of himself? If you did, did you think it was as incredibly hilarious as I did?
  5. I can't catch a topwater bass to save my life. I've got to where when I go fishing I just sleep til about 7 rather than get up early because nothing will hit my topwater lures. And I don't just throw one thing. I throw Pop-R, buzz baits, spooks, ribbit frogs, and torpedos. I've only caught about 3 fish on topwater all year.
  6. Well it better stay awesome for at least 9 more months cuz thats when I'm going down there to good ole Fork.
  7. Wish I could catch them that big!! Maybe then I could have the world's greatest job like you do..
  8. If you had $15,000 to spend on any bass boat you wanted, what would you get?? A 2002 Nitro? 2004 Stratos?? What??
  9. I've owned 3 different baitcast combos in my young days of fishing. My first ended up in the bottom of the lake and my third ended up snapped. I managed to keep my second one in tact and above water, at least so far. After breaking my latest rod, I decided no more cheap rods. I purchased an All-Star and man was it worth it. I can absolutely tell the difference. I swear just yesterday I felt a fish sneeze on the other end of the lake I was fishing. It was really unreal the difference it made..
  10. I've heard that if you false-hook a fish while in a tournament in California, that you are supposed to throw the fish back no matter how big it is. Is that true and if so are there any other states like that??
  11. The only tournament that I've had anything to do with stated in their rules that dead fish would deduct a pound from your total weight....
  12. Man that does suck. I'm just about to buy a new GPS/sonar combo and I'm gonna make sure that I take extra good care of mine.
  13. hawg hunter8, hit me up when you get to gville. that's where i live
  14. Anyone ever thought they had an absolute HAWG but it turned out you were WRONG? I was straight reeling a Heddon Torpedo once and I thought I was at either Hiroshima or Nagasaki. The explosion the bass made on that bait was unreal. I watched as my line ran out and right as it got tight i set the hook HARD... and nothing.. absolutely nothing. Fury was definitely an understatment. I couldn't believe I had just lost basszilla. I start reeling in my torpedo super fast and I feel an ever so slight tug on it. I get it in and a 3 inch bass is attached to it... that same 3 inch bass made a splash so big it rocked my boat.. Anyone ever had a similar experience?
  15. I was fishing with my cousin last weekend and we were having a fairly decent day. I was landing 2-2.5 pound fish ever hour or so. Each time I'd land one, my cousin would guess the fish to be much larger than it actually was. I figured he just didnt know what he was talking about so I didnt think much about it. Well today at work I've been bored and going through the old pages of the forum looking at peoples fish and I'm finding a TON of "6 lbers" that my scale would put at no bigger than 3.5. I'm 100% sure that my scale is correct because a gallon of water weighs 8 pounds 3 ounces and when I weighed a milk jug full of water it hit 8 pounds 6 ounces on my scale with the last 3 ounces being the weight of the jug. So having said all that, why is it that people always overestimate their fish??? It's not like we should be embarrassed about catching a 3.5 pound fish because by all means thats a really nice fish. Are peoples scales really that much off or is it just that the pictures don't do the fish justice?? I don't think that it's the whole "that picture doesn't do my fish justice"thing because I have loads of pictures of 3 pounders and I've never once thought that they looked bigger than they really were?? I just don't get how some of these average sized fish can really be that huge....
  16. Whats the difference in a three blade prop and a four? I've seen the same motor with a three and with a four? Does the four push the boat faster? Slower? Is there any difference at all?
  17. What does a jack plate do on a boat?
  18. Costa Del Mar Fathoms...
  19. I don't know a thing about Lake Eufala but travel a few hours farther north to Lake Guntersville and I can help you out a ton.
  20. haha in that case i've caught a bunch of keepers
  21. If I am using 50lb PowerPro braided line and get a good (6+) fish on, should I play her like I would normally or just muscle her in the boat as fast as possible??
  22. I've had 4 fish this year that were on the line being reeled in, jumped out of the water about 30-40 feet out just so that they could show me they were 4+ lbs, and then dove straight into the hydrilla and milfoil at the bottom.... You wanna talk about stuck.. by golly they were. I have 20 lb test with a palomar knot tied to my hook so I figure I'll just pull them out. WRONG!!! I pull and pull and pull but I absolutely cannot get these fish out. I end up pulling the hook through the fishes mouth and losing a good one. How can I pull these fish out without losing them??
  23. If you use braided line I dont believe you'll have to retie as much, as braided line resists tears and abrasions and things of that nature.
  24. wow.. never knew such a simple question would have sparked a debate like this!!!
