  3. So I woke up today and turned on the TV to the History Channel and the show Monster Quest was on. This episode titled "Piranha Invasion" was saying that piranhas have been introduced into lakes here in the United States. People have been catching them in the Potomak and also in the Lake of the Ozarcs in Missouri. Most scientists say that since they are native to waters in South America that stay warm all year around, they will die off in the winter because the water would get to cold and the piranhas wouldn't be able to live. In the Lake of the Ozarcs a fishing guide has said that people have reported catching these piranhas for three years in a row so either someone keeps putting more piranhas in the lake or they keep breeding and actually find a way to live in the cold conditions of winter. (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Piranha#Distribution) On the show Monster Quest, they had a guide help them find the piranhas so i checked his website to see what he said and he said that during the shooting of the show they did not find a single piranha. if you're interested you can check his website here http://www.fishinglakeoftheozarks.com/Fishing%20Report.htm but i just wanna know if you guys have heard anything about piranhas in lakes or bodies of water or if you think that our waters could potentially be infested with piranha some time in the future.
  4. yeah we used to do indian runs all the time at lacrosse practice. it sucked because we'd do them around the entire school campus and that was a total of a mile and a half or so. they kill
  5. hey guys, i live in Louisville and my home lakes are Taylorsville Lake, and Lake Jericho. Its great to know that there are other fellow Kentuckians on this forum!

  8. It's been awhile since i've posted anything on here. but today i went fishing around 2 o'clock and i caught this lil guy on a jig my first cast in. I let it fall and sit for a few seconds, i started reeling it back towards me and i felt a thud, so i let it sit the pulled again and then the hook was set. at first i thought the jig was just rolling over debris but then it started fighting so i knew i had one and reeled it in and this is what was on the other end I just wanna say thanks to everyone for posting helpful jig advice when i asked about it and for helping to make this moment possible
  9. i fished a pond with similar dimensions and conditions, i used a blue and silver strike king diamond shad, and i caught the bass that you see in my avatar picture

  12. Well I've been trying to fish a jig for awhile and i was just kinda wondering if the color of the trailer matters. I use a jig with a black skirt with red flakes and i try to match it with a black craw with red flakes. i was just wondering what you guys do when it comes to matching or mismatching trailers
  13. that's so awesome! let me know if it works
  14. i talked to the guy at BassPro over here in clarksville indiana and he says he does well on spinner baits he said he normally uses a white spinner bait with a single colorado blade and i think he said his preferred weight is a 3/4 oz. the guy i talked to does all of the demonstrations in the fish tank so i'm not really sure if thats what he really uses or if he's just trying to sell me a product hope this helps
  15. those baits look awesome. great job!
  16. I'm 18 and I have been fishing for about two years now. Prior to that my dad had taken me fishing before but the fishing was slow and uneventful due to the fact that i was only fishing for small fish like bluegill. I do believe that video games and different things have caused kids to lose the excitement that fishing can bring, and they only see it as boring. Last year my two brothers and I (they are also 18), we all went fishing, my brother Ryan loves to fish but my other brother doesn't like to fish at all (He is more interested in team sports, cars, and Music). So i set up a pole for my other brother with a Strike King Red Eye shad and after a few casts he had caught a 13 inch Large Mouth Bass. He said it was probably one of the most fun things he has ever done. I think the only reason why kids aren't that interested in fishing anymore is because of the pace. Its not a very fast paced sport and in today's society people (especially kids) are accustomed to receiving things quickly and do not really have patience. I guess I am one of the lucky few that has realized patience is a virtue and in the words of some guy "good things come to those who wait" like a 22 pound large mouth bass
  17. not a bad first, its a really nice sized crappie. congrats!
