  1. Just a point * I have never consumed alchohol and operated my jetskis. Nor has anyone I've ever let ride one * more than 1 of my fishing partners drink regularly while bass fishing although I sustain, I do indulge in the occasional bone.(yea, sue me) *All this said, I also can load both skis just as quickly as it takes to load my 21'. There is a system to unloading/loading ANY vehicle. Having a system for your personal task and executing it are far more important in my opinion than the actual type of craft being moved. A guy w/ a kayak on his roof can be more of a hassle than a bass boat if hes an absolute moron, and vise versa.
  2. unfortunately, I own 3 boats and 2 jetski's. Sorry I don't qualify to be treated like a human being. I treat others like I wish to be treated and I am very quick on the ramp. I've spent plenty of time helping and educating folks on the ramps also. The fact that I also enjoy P.W.C. shouldn't make me a target for unsolicited violence. I also fish. SO what now?? Do we just armwrestle? Treat people on an individual basis. If I approach the ramp next weekend at 60 in my Ranger, should the guy I swamp beat the ***** out of the next guy that comes along with a bass boat??
  3. Anyone ever have a horror show with a particular boat/brand?
  4. BOSTON WHALER- best resale absolutely nothing stabler unless you buy a catamaran Very fishable best buy(u get what u pay for) BEST OVERALL IMO
  5. 104 mph,...geez,..how fast can a bass swim? lol
  6. In RI, jet skiers have to take a mandatory safety course and become "liscenced". It blows my mind though that my 16 yr old niece could legally buy a 57 foot hattaras and start guiding it through the channel. Never mind the fact that the state could stand to make a little money with a safety course and liscencing program. As for the ramp situation, I think we just need to help educate those who don't understand or realize a thing called "ramp etiquette"
  7. the reservoir I live on is the back up to our main reservoir. It is landowner access only and electric motor only. As far as dropping motor for one quick second to push boat up,.......That'll get youy arrested here! Can't even have a gas motor on the boat, never mind in the water.
  8. I checked regs here in Rhode Island and it doesn't say either way. Assuming that would make it legal here.
  9. I agree with Gambler. The gel coat should not chip that easily unless perhaps if you drive 60 down the dirt/gravel roads. Was this a fairly inexpensive 18.5' boat? Sometimes you get what you pay for and this is one of the reasons they dont charge the same for every boat. Different companies use different steps, materials and finishes. EX: I know I can get a 20' bayliner for less than 1/2 the price of a 20' boston whaler. The whaler will be here in 10 yrs with proper care but the bayliner , even with proper care,is very likely to fall apart. I would go to the dealer and see if there are any other 2 yr old boats there and see if they are sustaining the same type of damage. Good luck
  10. 3m 5200 marine sealant/adhesive. nuff said
  11. The gods,....oh, the gods. Myu partner and I have been long time practitioners of'superstitious behavior. We NEVER wear matching socks, and we NEVER talk on the ride to the lake about how we are gonna "smoke 'em" cause the conditions are sooo on! Anyone else have any quirks?
  12. ok, let's all play it safe. When the sun is high, or not, and the water is warm, or not, the bass like to stay in the pond. Where and why? Gonna have to ask a bass that one personally! lol
  13. I currently hold a patent for a saltwater bluefish plug that combines the the steel leader with a plug that slides ON the leader. This allows you to grab the plug then slide it up the leader till it hits the swivel, then you lift the fish from there. This keeps your hands away from the teeth. The plug itself is very basic. When blues are boiling on top, they will hit anything that is splashing across the top of the school of baitfish. These will be marketed as a "2 in 1" lure for basically the same price as a leader. We supplied 8 boats with them last year for a product review and they flipped out! Should be on the shelves by Oct.
  14. I have 2 vin tags on the boat and the last 2 digits are "64"!!!!! This boat is over 40 yrs old!!! Holy crap. Still very structurally sound. I guess I'll have to ask the registry the make when I get it registered.
  15. define portable. I understand you are 13 so "portable" is relevant. Canoes, jon boats, kayaks,....all portable. If limited to ,let's say, a bicycle, how about an inflatable raft? Careful with your hooks tho, lol. Why have you eliminated a float tube? cheap, very portable, stealthy. Good luck
  16. My last saltwater boat did that too. It was a 21' steiger with a 225 merc offshore. The boat had trim tabs so I just adjusted the difference through them. Only had the boat about a year so I never investigated further. Try an email to the motor manufacturer. I bet they will know EXACTLY what the issue is. Good luck.
  17. Russ from East Greenwich, RI.
  18. I know that in the wild, there are blue lobsters. THey are very rare and there was one was caught off Cape Cod a few months ago and it was actually on the news. They said it is a naturally occurring phenomenon where there is a lack of pigmentation. They are the oceans version of the human albino. However, don't be fooled, the blue crays you see in the pet stores are injected with dye to achieve this color. THey aren't naturally blue but wild crays can be found with "hints" of blue. I read somewhere that they change color as their environment , or life cycle, changes. Perhaps they get blueish at night?
  19. Is that spelling correct? Googled "Ouachita" and didn't come up with anything boat related other than a lake Ouachida.
  20. This is the jon boat I am currently customizing. It has 3 distinctive features for a 12' jon. 1. The hole in the front seat for storage 2. The seats are ALL wide (most jons the rear seat is wider than the forward 2 seats) and they all have a lip on both sides. 3. The boat is incredibly stable due to its 55" width and extra high gunnels. I am wondering the approximate age of the boat and I am wondering if anyone can tell me the make?
  21. If you are honestly interested in building a pond, I have a friend in Mass. who bought land with a stream fed and spring fed water supplied pond already existing. He approached the marine biologies dept at UMASS Lowell and they use his pond as a lab. He essentially calls the shots as to what and how much to stock as a forage base allowing for the colleges opinions but they monitor and give him constant progress reports as to how his pond is thriving or not.
  22. Back in April, we were putting the boat in and I noticed 10-15 crays all up in the skinny , skinny water. I tossed on a jig matching size and rusty color and absolutely slammed them in a shallow, 3ft deep, 5 acre cove. After reading up that when the crays gather ike that, they are mating. Anyone ever catch during a noticable cray orgy?
  23. Way to go! Nice fish! Golf course pond? Should I have a 5'6" rod in my golf bag? lol
