  1. oh yeah, that was just my saturday routine. Some days it's 8:15-punch in 2:00- have all 150 stops or so, done and my pick ups ready ear;y 2-3:30- do pick up run and blow off my lunch hour 4:00 back at ups and running to car hoping my gore-tex is in there cause it's looking ovewrcast(yipee) 4:30- meet partner at boat and proceed to break speed limit. 5:00 launched and castin'
  2. run your fingers down the line to the lure and grab, then grab lip. I think you get the picture.
  3. I jump in regularly and then I bust my parners nuts cause he's scared of snapping turtles,...lol
  4. The armature is the "lower unit" of a trolling motor(the heavy part) Good point scbassin', a simple test with an ohm meter will show if you have continuity armature is part #8
  5. ddbasser- I was always a "topwater" fisherman. I would fish plastics or a rapala if that wasn't working but it led me to also shy from the deep water. I was forced by my partner a few yrs ago to use a jig all day, nothing else. I've been a believer ever since! Jig is a great way to break into that deep water. Give it a try, good luck
  6. 2am- eyes open, turn on coffee maker (pre-loaded) 2:01- cigarette and check email and a few posts 2:10-crapper then get the gore-tex on (stays on till suns up,...hate a wet butt (boat seats ) 2:15-out the door 2:20 grab 2 large reg's from dunkin donuts 2:40 arrive at buddys house and hook boat to his truck while he loads his gear if not done already 3:00 scare the hell out of some largemouth
  7. Honestly, Unless money is not an option, ask yourself these questions. can I change the oil in my car? Can I troubleshoot basic electrical or fuel issues? EVer switch out a battery? Do you mind painting/sanding/buffing? Boats are CONSTANTLY needing attention. A simple fuse, loose wire, bad plug, can cost you hundreds or thousands if misdiagnosed . Paying a dealer to do 1/5 of the work, upkeep and repairs, that a boat routinely needs can really hurt or even empty a wallet in the long run But then again, there is only 1 way to learn so a better question is are you willing to ask questions and learn?
  8. Exactly. plus,...sometimes trying too hard can cause you to lose that vital window of excitedness to hit 'em w/ the follow up if your smart enough to have 1 (or2 or 3) at your feet.
  9. Lots of folks here have done assorted articles from guide servicing, techniques, to reviews. Pretty much you name it.
  10. thanks shellback ps-u a turtle fan? I got an easter box that has free reign of my house. funny his name is "dinger"
  11. Sure, they are in the weeds too. You can always see them w/ a flashlight, creeping on the edge.
  12. that's my point. That's probably like a 50 hr /wk job! I hear you about letting your baby go though. There are some senior guys on here that I'm sure would love to help. At least with the forum. Trick is to get someone who maintains the sites integrity as being the ego free/ educational based zone that it has the rep of being. Good luck, Let me know if I can do anything to help. I've got a few xtra hours/week if needed.
  13. this might be kind of obvious but to find any leaks, leave on trailer, or elevate on sawhorses, etc and fill with a couple inches of water. Grab a wax crayon, go underneath and start circling the rivets that are dripping (or pouring:()
  14. THumb portfolio Thumbs UP!!!

  16. Glenn, I'm really not sure how these boards work but when I was on another forum for car audio, there were 4 or 5 moderators. Have you ever considered asking for a little help?
  17. yea but more importantly,.....what rattlinrogue said!
  18. funny thing is,...there's no big team keeping this thing up and running, ....Just Glenn. 3 cheers for Glenn!!
  19. the switches are cheap, lets hope the armature is still good.
  20. The herculiner will work for now but overall will just be a bandaid. My last jon was a lowe that had over 40 bad rivets. I drilled them out and filled the hole w/ a tapered head bolt (from underneath) and a nut on the inside. The tapered head fits into the old hole regardless of it's exact size. I put a dab of 3m 5200 marine adhesive/sealant in each hole first. Never had a problem since.
  21. I snorkeled my lake about 3 years ago,.best thing I ever did.
  22. senko, how long will you be in RI,.maybe we could get out during the week too and you can bring your fly rod for some blues.
  23. totally, did you see argyll's boat?
  24. Hope all our southerners here are staying safe down there. Good luck to you and your families this hurricane season. Iwas wondering if hurricanes are different from any other storm as far as fishing goes. I know "Andrew" or one of those , really messed up old Okie a few yrs back. Now, we all know fishing can be great during a storm but a hurricane? I know, I know, noone is about to go find out in 80mph winds but maybe just before it hits? Are the bite swings as strong as the barometer swings?
