  1. exactly. the 1 thing that's even more beautiful than their color ......is their attitude!! All topwater till the callousses hurt too much. What's better than that?
  2. Choreography award,....LMAO
  3. oops, my mistake, Pradco was what I meant, thanks Nick. Also the excaliber offers gammy hooks, super sized rattles, 5 3/8" super-size body and fantastic, detailed finishes. It's the mack daddy of spooks! Nick-good stuff, How come this stuff wasn't in my history books when I was in school??
  4. I believe heddon made it first. Also, excalibur is just a series of "ultra" versions of many lures made by companies owned by cotton cordell, Heddon included. sidenote- The excalibur super spook if the best spook ever made by any company! JMO
  5. Al Lindner for president then.
  6. Senko77, whom I met on this board, is coming to RI this weekend to visit family so we are planning an outing for Sunday. We tried this a couple weeks ago but our lines of communication got messed up. Senko77, if you have rain gear, bring it. weather will be unstable Sunday. I have extra gore tex bibs for you but you will need a jacket. Has anyone else met someone on the board and did you guys ever meet up and fish? I can't wait to see how someone else approaches my lake. (especially someone who at age 14 , rates himself a 9!!)kidding. Gonna be a fun one!!
  7. Wasn't Chuck Woolery the guy from "the dating game"? What is it about, the spawn?
  8. BTW-George, I mailed the bill for this post today. Should be there by friday.,lol
  9. For less money, a jon also provides more room. JMO
  10. Honestly I couldn't tell you what they would charge but I know I would have to get at least 1500-2000 for somthing like that. Lots and lots of sanding time. But I just do projects on the side. Maybe it would be cheaper in a shop set up to do it.
  11. Lots of work. This isn't somthing you do for the first time on a nice boat. Practice on a beater boat first.
  12. Restore, absolutely!! For the same money, you can have it fully rigged to your own liking. Tell her straight up that you spent $300 on a rod or tell her you paid $50 for the rod and the car needed an alternater?
  13. Actually, this wall sustains me through the winter. We actually have small ceremony type occurences in front of it as the ice builds, lol
  14. Great answer George, thanks alot. This would be a great topic for the articles above. Thanks again.
  15. Could some of the guides here(acstech, etc) please explain how being a guide is not like getting paid to fish. I think some folks see it as just that. THey don't see the pressure, the sales aspect, etc. Could you enlighten us as to how tough it is to be a successful, sustaining guide?
  16. good luck!
  17. I'm the same way. Iwas asking because I just bought a 6 apartment 1876 victorian and I am living in one of the apartments. Its got a ton of charachter and I was planning on doing the kitchen (small) in all fishing gear. My buddies dad gave me his fly rod from when he was a kid (and he grew up w/ my dad), hexagon bamboo, pretty cool. THis is what I've got so far. Please excuse the mess.
  18. I used about 1/2 of the 1 gallon kit when I did mine. 3 coats. I wish I had my trailer ready and prepped because there was more than enough leftover to do that too but the stuff must be used within 17 hours of opening the can. (air reactive) So I ended up throwing a good amount into the trash.
  19. My first saltwater boat was named "fishous". pronounced vicious with an "f". tons of names here, use alpha-chart on left. http://www.boatus.net/boatgraphic/names/top10.asp
  20. also, if it's fiberglass, it weighs a ton. Personally I would keep looking, lots of stuff out there for cheaper. Drive around some neighborhoods near lakes and leave notes on doors asking if the boat may be for sale. Leave your telephone #. I did this on my UPS route for 2 days and got about 12 call backs. THat gave me a huge choice of vessels in all different price ranges to choose from. Good luck.
  21. Thanks RR. I found mine by driving around. I'm a UPS driver so I left a note on every door that had a jon in the yard. I asked if they were interested in selling and left my number. Many people have them sitting in their yards and havn't been touched for years. All they need is to be shown how that eyesore in the backyard can be converted to a couple of hundred dollar bills. Good luck in your hunt. I would suggest driving around in a "lake" neighborhood, they are everywhere.
  22. well it looks like it's grumpy's turn over in flea market. You guys are great. Now I wish I saved some of the reels, rods, etc that I've thrown out over the years.
  23. honor system. Not the best method for fishermen!! lol This is probably the one board this would work on but it's not neccessary. Many of us constantly post results from outings and share in tackle info so it's kind of pointless.
  24. Bump- Anyone ever hear how that turned out?
