  1. Are you trying to lift 4lbrs in the boat w/ 8 lb test?? I wouldn't expect to keep too many fish if this is the case. You'll snap off 5 times out of ten and that's only if you have incredible luck!
  2. my buddy is catchin on the same stuff, but better fish >
  3. yea but believe me,...as I get closer to the lake my "bad" stress level slips away and my "Good:)" stress level rises as I anticipate the hunt! So relaxing really isn't it,it's just off. Sometimes it is what it is but I'll be back later this afternoon to reclaim my position !
  4. Fluke, I'll be taking that whole week off so if you're available and are able to come a few days early, We can go assault my local haunt together. You could stay at my place, no problem, comfortable couch and 5 miles from airport. That's if you're still willing after me n HAwghunter smack you guys down next april!!
  5. Welcome to the site. By the body and content of your questions, I can see you mastering one bait at a time via the internet. When you are very confident and versatile c-rigging, we'll be ready to set you up with the next technique. Great questions to learn what you need to know but if you use the search option above and explore the "articles" or the "old and new testament" as I like to call them, you'll see a plethura of knowledge at your fingertips. Print some to take with you to th lake when learning a new technique so you can refer to it as the condition you are approaching dictates. Good luck and catch 'em up!!
  6. So would you assess that it was just too aggressive of a profile when weighted? moving too fast, etc?
  7. Well if it is true, then I really suk lately! Last night, 7 fish, no size. My partner went for an earlier shift (3:30p-8:30p) and smoked 'em with a 5 in the mix. I think I'm just off my game a bit. Confidence is there but after being red hot for the last few weeks, I may just be getting greedy :-/
  8. Oh yea, and don't be afraid if your eyes start to cross like in the pic above. This is from high concentration followed by 2 minutes of fire alarm level exitement. It goes away by mid morning, lol.
  9. We night fish alot. As a matter of fact, I just woke up from a night trip. 9p-4a. Noise and size are certainly big positives but certainly aren't a MUST. As senko77 said, you can fish a senko at night no problem. Worms, no problem. Ikas, kreatures, etc, no problem. When the conditions are right, there really isn't too much that wouldn't work at night that does during the day. Bass are low light feeders. Just like a cat, they can see just fine at night. Just because you can't "see" your bait, doesnt mean he can't. For spinnerbaits, at night, I use a big 1 oz bait with the biggest, roundest, thumper blade (colorado blade) you can find. Add a trailer hook always! Remember, just like fishing during normal hours, the best tool in your box is your brain and it's ability to manifest confidence. THink positive! Look back at some night posts and see the proof in the pics we've provided. Remember these as you are feeling every little stone and stick on the bottom with your jig. Have confidence and conquer "the dark side". Good luck and catch 'em up!
  10. it was moved to "my tournament, outing"
  11. As far as liking what you have, it's not always the case. I've owned Mercs, Yamaha's,evinrude, johnsons and Honda motors. Never had a suzuki but my buddy does. Force,... never. Anyway, the merc was my favorite. 225 offshore, zero problems. All the others were great motors except for the evinrude. I think I had a lemon. Everything from power heads to lower leg problems. Yamaha and Honda speak for themselves. Flawless. The honda4 got stolen or I would still have it. I liked the merc best I think for personal taste reasons because it was a bit older and a very "aggressive" motor. sidenote-all saltwater use, no fresh.
  12. When I was growing up there was a pond at the cemetary. It wasn't in the view of anyone visiting the cemetary so I didn't feel it was disrespectful to go fish it. It wasn't anything too special but it wasn't fished by anyone else either so it was like our secret.
  13. I spoke with Clay yesterday, that knot was a Palomar. I've been practicing trying to tie it with my tongue. Havn't gotten it yet. Friggin' tough! He makes it look easy!!
  14. except too fast! Biggest mistake made by folks trying out senkos in my experience.
  15. I'm a huge believer in fishing 3 days before and after the full moon. I'm a major night-fisherman so that might have somthing to do with it. Like Raul said, If I get a full moon AND a clear night, you know where I'll be! HOWEVER----last night, full moon,5 fish all dinks except for a 2.4lbr I'll be back tonight because that full moon bite WILL happen, I just hope I'm there for it.
  16. you're all right, but to add a sidenote, many people fish it when the cold hits because you say the rubber loses action but I believe this was learned as a by product of downsizing in cold water. The hair jig provides a lower profile bait while still retaining that deadly look. Personally I think hair jigs look better than rubber in the water but then again,...I'm not a bass! Also, the jigs RYan (senko77) ties have both hair and rubber too.
  17. welcome Strat. Sorry, only thing I play is dumb. (and when that doesnt work I play dead)
  18. I am running an event for C.A.S.T. for kids foundation next Sept. (thanks again Glenn for the contact info) I was speaking with the regional director,Art Pasley, and I asked him if he saw the piece ESPN did on this Clay Dyer guy and he said that he was forced to miss it because he was at an event that weekend,WITH CLAY!! It turns out that Clay has joined the C.A.S.T. team! Anyway, I have an email in to him, sent it this morning. Everyone cross your fingers that he can make it to my event. This gentleman is not just a fishing inspiration but an inspiration for LIFE itself. Man, I hope this happens. Sidenote- anyone in the New England area that would like to donate their day to our event, we would love to have you come help. The event will be held on Sept. 16th,2006, in the beautiful state of Rhode Island. Event will host 2-300 people and promises to be a fun filled, positive day all around. Anyone interested can either PM or email me.
