  1. unfortunately i havent seen a turtle in years up here, on the rivers and lakes. Use to see them alot when i was a kid. But i definately believe that the bass havent forgotten what they look like haha. id like to give these a try for smallies.
  2. I went out fishing last saturday, and caught this beauty. She was my first fish this year and not only that, but my first ever large mouth. Ive seen people catch them around here before but not often, i think they are rare, its mostly only small mouths that are caught. Unfortunately it was the only fish i caught that day. Caught it on a 4" yum brown and orange curly tail grub.
  3. yea this year im going to pick 5-6 different colors to use, dual colors mostly, because ive noticed that white and orange dont always work around here, so i need more colors to toss and see what they bite on. also need to find the right jig head since i fish rocky lake and river beds. the ones ive been using dont last longer 3-4 casts, its mostly the hook that get banged up.
  4. thanks for the great advice, ill see what brands are available here and ill try a few out.
  5. Hey guys, fishing season is approaching here in Quebec in about 2 months, and ive all ready started to get gear and stuff ready. I love curly tail grubs 3" and 4" their my #1 baits, for my smallies. This year i want to have more of an assortment of colors, i usually just use plain white and orange. Mister Twister is the brand i use the most and they are not scented or salted. Does scented or salted make a difference? if so i think i might switch brands. thanks Dan
  6. thats not bad even takes video, avi format and pics all ready in jpeg, camera is also digital. i dont think i can get better. thanks i think im going to order it.
  7. bummer, i wish i could just find something that takes cellphone quality photos, instead of taking out my cellphone and risk breaking it or droping it. and plus making cd's is just inconvenient
  8. no way !! they got baby ones now 2.5", bait monkey is calling me now, i have the bbz1 and tried it up here in quebec and no luck i find its just to big for the bass up here. i got to get my the perch color tons of perch up here. anyways sorry for stealing the thread.
  9. I need some help and suggestions on finding a camera to take photos while fishing. Im looking for a digital camera, for ease of loading pictures on the computer, also im looking for one less than like 50 dollars. Some thing i just keep in my tackle box. anyone have any suggestions.
  10. it is not an act lol its just the way he is. read his book "Fishing on the Edge" and you'll know why! great read!
  11. im guessing its some type of bass raising farm, i find that there to hungry to be actual free bass that are not in a enclosed area. but still a very cool vid.
  12. WOW check this cool video of some people hand feeding smallmouths underwater. very entertaining.
  13. what size are the 2 jointed ones and how do they swim? got any videos? oh and can you make me one hehe
  14. cool thanks for the info Matt, well they are roughly 2-3lbs so yea unless you make some mini versions then i think the ones you got might be a little big >
  15. got a quick question sorry to go off topic though, i have tons of sunfish here on my local river and was wondering if my smallmouths actually eat them or go after say the perch or other species. is a blue gill the same as a sunfish? if so then ill have to get me on of these bad boys.
  16. here is the start of my first swimbait project im making, 3 jointed, here is an image i took of my sketch.
  17. are Spro and Tru Tungsten the only ones that make 4" hard body swimbaits, the Mattlures 5" might not be to bad but im nervous about the size for my smallies up here?
  18. i just want that darn perch color lol
  19. the solution i was thinking to fix the pin geting loose was to set the weights the way you prefer then to glue the pin in place permanently, or bend it and force it in, only thing is if you glue it in place you might need to buy different models so you have some with different sink rates.
  20. i have the BBZ-1 in dirty shad color and it swims amazing lol, haven't caught anything with it yet, planning on getting the tru life one soon since it offers more colors.
  21. WOW man im amazed at the opinions here! i totally agree with alot of you lol my favorite go to bait is a 3" white curly tail on a jig head lol never seen that in my river ((doesnt that anwser my own question lol )). anyways i will not give up on the most expensive lure i bought, bass season is just starting here so i got all summer to learn it. now if it was available in a perch color then it would be nice. i will deffinatly use what i learned here next time on i go fish. thanks for all the opinions and feed back from all of you. now i know why i love this community.
  22. Oops lol i always forget about that search function and now that i think about it i am positive this topic has been brought up, sorry about that. thanks for the advice Paul and Mrlite
  23. Hey, After buying a Spro BBZ-1 shad lure and having no success with it, I started doing some research on what exactly a threadfin shad was. Turns out it is only found in the southern US states from west to east, according to a few sites i looked at. So i was like well maybe this is the reason i was not catching anything with this swimbait up here in Quebec Canada. So the big question is does matching the type of forage/hatch increase your chances of success? The rivers i fish have most all freshwater fish, and the smallest fish that i think would be good for smallies up here are Perch, crappie/sunfish, baby bass and pike. Oh and i was not sure were to post this so please move it to the appropriate section if wrong.
  24. lol i forgot about it being an online site lol been there before not sure what i was thinking about when i posted earlyer, only reason it took me an hour was because i was in rush hour traffic and construction zones. im positive ill catch some smallies with this bate just need to fish it more and better conditions. if the smallies wont bite it which i doubt, the pike will love it up here ;D
  25. no *** were i live, im up in Quebec, canada
