  1. I have an addiction to trying out new gear period but I tend to spend around 150-200 for both but I do alot of clearance and bargain shopping for the biggest part. I am a little more adventurous when it comes to rods and have a variety of different makes and models but with reels, I tend to stick with what I like. I have reels from Shimano, Daiwa, Pflueger, Quantum, and Abu, but I fish mainly the Shimano and Daiwas. My rods are another story; Daiwa, Damiki, e21, Pinnacle, Dobyns, Abu, Quantum, Shimano, Berkley, Powell, Castaway, St.Croix, BPS, Field & Stream, Fenwick, Lucky Craft, Tackle Industries...I think thats it.
  2. Elaztech will do the same....always keep them seperate.
  3. I have a good assortment of different rods and reels. I can see where people would be more comfortable with using similar equipment but for me, I like using different setups. I have never had any trouble switching from one setup to another. I know how all my stuff fishes so swtiching from a Shimano with the VBS to a Daiwa with Magforce-Z or Magforce-V becomes a non issue. Just know your equipment and how to fish it. If you want matching setups go for, I like variety, I could never settle on one brand.
  4. For three rods to cover the field I would say 7'M-F and 7'MH-F casting, 7'M-F spinning. The main thing is to try to get hands on with the rods if possible.
  5. It does sound like its probably your gallbladder. I do 5-10 gallbladder ultrasounds a day but its not always just gallstones, the function plays a part too. I would say the postprandial pain, after eating, points towards gallstones, the gallbladder contracts and then the stones cause discomfort once the gallbladder empties. You tend to have upper right pain, chest pain, or pain in the shoulder to between your shoulder blades. You do need to see the doctor and probably need and ultrasound a possibly a HIDA scan, if there's no stones to test the function.
  6. I don't know if it helps or hurts but I've done just fine without colored weights. I have some but haven't noticed much of a difference. In certain circumstances, like stroking or ripping a bait through weeds, I would like to think a silver weight looks like a small baitfish being chased by your bait.
  7. I like the Lucky Craft RC 1.5, Fat CB B.D.S. and the XCalibur XCS baits. If I had to choose just one single bait to use it would be a Luck Craft Fat CB B.D.S. 1 in Tomato Craw. I have caught more bass on that one single bait than I think any other.
  8. I really like BPS tender tubes and a local company called Cabin Creek.
  9. For me it's the overall quality of the bait. I don't like the hooks, saw one in the package that had a broken hook and, including the RC cranks, I've seen alot of shorty manufacturing...off center line tie, off aligned hooks, cracks in the body and bill. I just don't think the quality is there compared to others at that price, they're almost the same price as an X-rap and are far behind them in quality.
  10. I love the Owner Cultiva Rip'n Minnow 65 and 70 but they are getter more expensive and harder to come by. I also like the Damiki Striker 90, and Yo-Zuri Sashimi Jerkbait. For a good bait on a budget I'd say Bomber Long A, Spro McStick, Strike King Wild Shiner, or the classic Smithwick Rogue. I personally wouldn't pay $8 for the Luck-E-Strikes, they are $4 baits MAX...not worth it.
  11. I use a 7'MH-F Lucky Craft BDS $149 @ TW.
  12. I've had a 6'10"MH Carrot Stix Gold as my squarebill/jerkbait/topwater rod for almost five years that has been very heavily used since it was purchased. The finish has been beaten of by rocks and chipped to the white blank, the tip guide has been grooved a bit but causes no trouble. I love that rod and would purchase it again in a heartbeat. I like it so much that when TW liquidated they're stock, I bought a 7'10"M for $98 to use as a deepcrank rod and its a beast of a rod but still more balanced and lighter than my 7'MH Lucky Craft cranking rod. I also have a 7'ML Wild that was well worth the money. I've heard a lot of hate on Carrot Stix since they came out and yes they did have some problems at the first go 'round but because the color and name, the bad rep stuck. You don't hear anyone slamming dobyns because of the Gen 1 Champions which had terrible breaking issues. It all really boils down to if you want an orange rod, or a black one with a green butt, still don't understand that. If you do they are decent for the money. If you don't, don't buy one. I will say the old Golds look mighty nice with a Sol mounted on them.
  13. I use several different setups for shakey heads but the ones I use most are 1. 7'M-XF Damiki Dark Angel/ 2500 Shimano Stradic CI4/ 8lb P-line Flouroclear 2. 7'M-XF Daiwa Zillion/ Daiwa Alphas 103/ 12lb Seaguar InvisX (Far Right) 3. 7'2''M-XF Shimano Cumara/ Shimano Chronarch 50e/ 12lb Seaguar Red Label My rods and reels usually fall into the $150-200 category each
  14. I use two rods for jerkbaits the first is my tube rod, a 7'M/XF Zillion, and the other is my shallow crank rod, a 6'10''MH/F Gen 1 e21 Carrot Stix Gold. The action of the e21 is slower that a normal F and is underpowered for a MH but it makes a perfect jerkbait/crankbait rod. The Zillion is a stiff little booger and overpowered for a M but works well with a fast snap retrieve.
  15. I'm not a revo fan, I've had several and we just don't work well together. I'd recommend the 50e as well. It sounds like it would be better suited for your intended purposes. I tend to put my 50s on M rods and 200s on MH and up.
  16. I use a Daiwa Alphas, Daiwa Furgo, and Curado/Chronarch 50 for lighter baits but I tend to focus more on the rod, usually M/F. A weightless senko, a REAL senko, is pretty heavy for what it is, I haven't had a problem with throwing them with any of my reels.
  17. I have a 6'6''mh that I recieved in the giveaway here when they were first released and use it mostly for soft plastics and small jigs. I have fished squarebills on it and it is ok for them but its just a little stiff for them, the smaller crankbaits can be a little tough to throw due to the stiffness and shorter length. I havent used the moderate tapered cranking rods but for a general recommendation I usually choose a 7'+ rod. I would say 7' and if going for a M get a fast action, there is a "squarebill" rod that is 7'MH-M and honestly that would probably be my choice.
  18. I love my cumara rods but that color is a big drawback for me...looks like a bionic blade
  19. Not been too avtive recently but have participated in the exchange the past few years....I'd loe to participate again
  20. I really like the bitsy flips and baby boo jigs. Like Big O said, pair em with a baby rage craw. I like to use them on top of grass, they don't burry up as much as bigger jigs.
  21. yeah...it's called an ika...wonderful baits I usually will keep it on until it won't stay in place
  22. This is a little off subject but how in the world do you get any action from a ribbit. Threw one at Guntersville this year and the things just push water, no action what so ever. Ended up switching to a rage toad which should have been my first and only choice.
  23. I use the BOSS rigs, they have weighted and unweighted rigs. They are cheaper than most others, usually <$10 at TW.
  24. alright...just loaded up with some football jigs
