  1. Bandits if you are cranking shaloow-mid and bomber fat free shad if you are going deep
  2. one of the shops here had them before the veritas. they were ok, the veritas felt better balanced since the adjustable handle throws it off some. I don't care for the locking mechanism on any of the Abu rods, I find it highly uncomfortable, especially in colder months.
  3. I use two rods for 1/4oz jigs. The one I use most for jigs is a 6'6''MH Pinnacle Perfecta Tournament Class/Curado e50/12lb CXX that I one during there giveaway here. I normally fish 7' rods but the Perfecta works out very well for jigs up to 3/8oz. The second rod I use is a 7'M Daiwa Zillion/Daiwa Alphas 103/12lb Seguar Red Label. I mainly use it for tubes and jerkbaits but occasionally I'll toss a small jig or shakey head on it. Don't let the M fool you, it is a very tough little rod, it's really got a strong blank and doesn't feel wimpy like some other M rods.
  4. I usually fish jigs under 1/2oz, under 3/8oz actually. Most of the time I use 1/4-5/16oz and use a 6'6"MH Pinnacle Perfecta that I won during their giveaway. I usually use 7' rods but the Pinnacle is very well suited for smaller jigs.
  5. Thanks for the replys guys. They are a really good numbers bait for me. The lake I fish gets hammered during the spring and summer, sometimes close to or over 100 boats. That's a good number of boats for 784 acres. It's considered a "trophy" lake and definitely gets hit hard. I've found my best producers are smaller profiled baits like finesse jigs, 4" dropshots, smaller shakey head worms, and these small jerkbaits. On a slow day, the owner can catch a good number of fish and multiple species at that. They can turn a bad day pretty quick. I have only caught one verified keeper (>20'') on a tube but the rip n' minnow has come close several times. Just look at this beast
  6. It's normal to loose interst in something that you take on full speed ahead. Sometimes you just get so engulfed in something that you just get tired of it. It's good to get into different things and expand you knowledge base and hobbies. It seems that nowadays there are certain things that teens get into that are just no good, just stay away from those and stay with the positive recreations . My brother played basketball from 3rd grade to his sophmore year in college and gave it up last year. He had a coach in a highschool that coached there for one or two years and made ALOT of people mad. Several kids quit, some even left to go to the private school just to play, alot of parents were constantly on him to play there kids and would cave to their threats, pressure, or politics. My brother wanted to quit but my parents wouldn't let him, he wasn't getting enough playing time for his ego and it got worse after he broke the school record of like 50 some points in a game. After all the fuss from parents and players, kids quoting and changing schools, he took them to the sweet 16 state tournament, somewhere that hadn't been in a long time and I don't think have been since. It takes someone to push you and make tough descisions that you might not like to get you ahead.
  7. I have a Revo Toro 50HS that I use for most swimbaits and a Cardiff 300A that I use on my muskie rod. I have contemplated using the Cardiff for swimbaits, it just feels better and fishes better than the Toro. Not to mention, the price of the Cardiff is much less.
  8. Never had that problem with sensation, mine felt good the day I trashed it. However, the strength and abrasion resistance sucked. It had great manageability but broke way to easily.
  9. thanks micro, I have used the hardcore drums and hardcore crankbaits and really like them. The 3D minnows look really good as well, may try them out.
  10. After owning a Stradic Ci4, I am really sold on shimano's spinning reels. I am going to give the new Supreme XT a shot but I give my spinning vote Shimano. Baitcasters are a different story, I am pretty much split down the middle on Shimano or Daiwa...both get a vote from me.
  11. thanks... Ive never used either of those sites but it looks like time to try one
  12. I bought some from Sportsmans Warehouse for around $3-4 when they closed the store but now that they opened back up, they don't carry them. I then found them at a local tackle shop that sold them for $9.99 but they stopped carrying the Cultiva baits as well. I was trying to find them somewhere that I could save on the shipping but Tackle Warehouse only sells the 80 and BTD doesnt carry them. Anyone seen these online anywhere, the only place I can find them is on Owner's site. Also, anyone know of any similar baits? They are 2-5/8'' (65mm) long, 1/4oz, and suspend around 4-5 feet I believe. I have some pointer 78s but the smaller owner outfishes them hands down. I know they make a 65 pointer but it seems hard to find and only available in certain colors.
  13. that's usually what gets me, I do like to find things at a discount. I try to look around for deals on ebay and here in the flea market. I have payed retail for exactly two reels since I have been bass fishing, a Quantum Code and a Mitchell Avocet. The Mitchell was bought as my first "bass'' rig and the Code was my first baitcaster. Since then if its a good deal and I want it, it's mine. I also like for the reels to match the rods they go on.....
  14. I would say supreme, mainly for the fact that I can't stand the color of the president XT.
  15. I use 10lb CXX and 10-12lb Floro-clear. I fish mainly near a bridge with alot of rock around so the CXX really helps out with snags and it can take some abuse
  16. I like some of them but they have little to no effect on me. They don't make me jittery or give me palpitations but the do seem to help wake me up but I have drank them before bed and fall right to sleep. My favorites are NOS, Rockstar Juiced, Full Throttle Red Berry and Blue Agave, Bawls, and there was one from Super America called Shock Wave. I absolutely hate Red Bull, tastes like it came straight from the bull. I had a Monster shot the other day and within 10 minutes had a terrible headache and became dizzy and I am in no way sensitive to caffeine....never again will I use a concentrated shot.
  17. I use a Daiwa Zillion 7'M for 3/16-3/8oz jigs and 1/8-3/8oz t-rigs, shakey heads, and tubes. It's got plenty of power for cover and really sensitive. You can get them for under $200 on eBay. I would recommend it to anyone.
  18. Ok. What about the bearings? I've heard of people taking the shields off of bearings, blowing the grease out, and putting oil in them. Is this common practice? Oil only for bearings. AFAIK, acetone bath until all old lube is removed and reoil after completely evaporated and dry. As far as I know???? Yeah....that's what I do. I'm sure there are other methods for cleaning bearings.

  20. Roboworm Straight Tails, Big Bite Squirrel Tails, GYCB Kut Tails, Taper Tails, and your standard finesse worm (zoom).
  21. Are you talking about the screw on handles like this If so, I believe they require a different drag star, I could be wrong though. I know the Pfluegers i have require you to push the drag star back to take it of and I think so did the quantums. It seems most companies are going away from this design. If that is what you're looking for, they won't have them at BPS, I really don't know if there are similar aftermarket parts and even if you did find them, I don't know if they would fit right.
  22. I'm sure you'll get people telling you to not use hot sauce period. I've used it without problems and really liked it. You can use the oil by itself but grease has better longevity on internal gears. If you just use oil, you'll need to reapply sooner than with grease.
  23. Yo-zuri snap beans work pretty good too.
