  1. It's all a preference thing. I like some LC baits and don't care for others. In don't like the action of a sammy, I'd rather throw a spook. Pointers are ok but I have done better on other jerkbaits. The CBs and RCs are very good baits, they are a little to expensive to fish the deep divers but the shallow runners will go through just about anything. They have a really nice action, run true, deflect well, and get bit.
  2. I usually chuck a crankbait or slow down with a tube
  3. maybe the HAVCO baits are made by BREKLEY, I think they sponsor Ronald Martin BUY THEM
  4. Straight from the man himself.
  5. They remind me of the old Storm wildeye soft shads. Had a few, they were ok, didn't float very well, closer to a slow sinker.
  6. Wow, little bit of everything there. Quantum, Abu Garcia, Shimano, Pflueger, Daiwa. Did I miss any?? And they all play together nicely...haven't caught the Shimanos or Daiwas picking on the Pfluegers or Quantums once ;D ;D The top spinning reel is an Okuma and the round reel on top is a BPS Pro Qualifier I need to....still chipping away at the 20 or so spools of CXX I bought from walmart a few years back when they clearanced it for $2-3 a piece. I also have a tendency to try different lines that I find onsale, I'd say the there are probably 6-7 different lines in that picture....CXX, CX, Floroclear, McCoy FC, Yo-Zuri Hybrid, Suffix Seige, Elite, Berkley Fireline Braid, BPS Excel, XPS FC, Seaguar Red Label, Stren Super Braid....OK...I was off by a few WOW I like that collection alot! How do the Sol's compare to a Curado? I could really do all my fishing with those two reels. I like to compare the 50 and the sol as similar reels with different braking systems. You can snap cast the Curados easily with little worry about an overrun. I tend to keep my mags higher, around 8, and my cent brakes low with one pair. I seem to get further on a cast from the Sol, even with higher braking. the drag is a bit better on the Curado but I've upgraded to carbontex on all my daiwas making them smoother and more consistent. It's really hard to compare straight up because I use them so differently, plus I've payed less for my Sols than my Curados. In all, I could replace my Sols with 50es, COULD, but won't. Both ate great reels though.
  7. TW has the male in both a floater and sinker

  9. I use 7'M for both. I like a spinnng rod for dropshots and a casting rod for tubes.
  10. I look forward to giving my new Helium II a good fair shot at Guntersville in April, kinda hard to get it on the water and make a completely fair comparison when the lakes are hard, 50* one week and 15* the next...it's been a very odd winter.
  11. my reels before they went into the boxes
  12. I like to try to keep it close to even with rods and reels. Even though you can get by with a subpar rod or reel, if you put a steez, core, whatever on an uglystick, it will not be as enjoyable to fish if it were on a better rod. Some of the budget rods have left a bad taste in my mouth like the vendetta spinning, mojo, and Skeet Reese rods. I usually keep my selection around $130 and up. I personally feel like the $20 jump from, let's say a 7' mojo to a 7' Powell is a small monetary jump but a great performance increase. One thing for me is to look out for deals, sales, and on ebay. I would say $250 is the average cost of most of my combos even though the MSRP would be higher. It may take some effort piece together certain combos but with the flea market here, online sales, and eBay, you can have a pretty good combo for a fraction of the cost.
  13. The simplest thing, for me atleast, would be to fish it in an area that I know the depth of, say 8'. If it digs, it's probably a 10-12' bait, if it doesn't hit anything, it's less.
  14. I would go with the Curado E5, I prefer the curado profile over the revos. It also seems to be a little better with lighter baits. This might help a little. http://www.tackletour.com/review2010lowspeedfinal.html
  15. I'm sure there is a blank difference. I had a 7'H magnesium and currently have a 7'H Helium II. Honestly, besides the Helium being slightly lighter and more sensitive, I can't tell much of a difference, the balance feels very similar, in a bad way though, just doesn't feel very well balanced.
  16. Roboworms are great worms. I fish them mostly on a shakey head. Aarons Magic, Prism Craw, bold bluegill, warmouth, and ehrlers edge are great colors for me.
  17. I would say take a look at the 7'MH-M Avid, I have fished one and it seemed well suited for most cranks. I had an 843 and honestly hated it. I felt it was too whippy and underpowered for most cranks. To me, an RC 1.5 just pushed it to it's limits.
  18. I have only tried the Red Label but like it quiet well. It's relatively cheap, or at least cheaper, and seems to fish similar to BPS XPS. I have used it on both spinning and casting setups with no trouble out of either of them.
  19. Mines on a Zillion rod as well.
  20. I have 3 of the old golds and really like them. I had an LTX but hated the length I got. I've never had any breaking issues with them. I think it's well worth the price you payed
  21. you should have waited 2 days, it would have been a year on the dot.
  22. I have a few that I can't bring myself to seperate. One is a 7'M Zillion with a Daiwa Alphas 103, it just feels right for tubes, small jigs, and jerkbaits. Another is my 6'10"MH Carrot Stix Gold and a Daiwa Sol, it's a great shallow crank/jerkbait setup. I won a 6'6''MH Pinnacle Perfecta rod and strapped a Curado 50e on it and man does it feel good for jigs, topwater, and t-rigs.
