  1. I' lookin to get a new crankin reel before the spring. Anyone have any suggestions for a decently priced reel. Right now I'm using an old Pro Qualifier round reel and love it. Thinking maybe a shimano cardiff or getting an energy from ebay for around $100 or so
  2. Are these made out of the same material as the zero or is it different
  3. Wacky rigged stick worm. I've also had descent success with a Mann's Waker after others have missed on topwater. :
  4. The Crankin Sticks are well worth the money and are solid rods. They've got descent sensitivity for a crankbait rod...I actually used my 6'6''M for soft plastics when I first got it to test just that. Plus if you get it on sale that leaves room for extras.
  5. My aunt's boyfriend was a marine and he told me this joke: A marine and an army soldier are both standing at the urinals doing there business. The army soldier finishes first and goes to wash his hands. The marine then finishes and heads toward the door. The soldier stops him and asks "Don't they teach you to wash your hands in the Marines?". The Marine replies "No. They teach us not to pee on our hands."
  6. Flourescent neon fire . Is this it ? yeah..couldn't think of the name
  7. Thanks...I was a little worried because of all that I've heard in the past but it sounds like newer braids and guides for that matter are more advanced. If anyone has advice for color it would help too...Thinkin about the Power Pro Hi-Vis or the Suffix orange line....don't remember the name
  8. Nice rock bass....mean little critters....ferocious
  9. Anyone live near or fish Cedar Creek Lake in Crab Orchard Ky and wanna take me out next spring. I just moved to Rchmond a few months ago and when I found out that I was so close it kills me not to be able to take full advantage of the young lake.
  10. Not a bad looking rod...wonder how it would perform.
  11. I just bought a 3-pack of Lucky Strikes at Wal-Mart for $3 that came with 2 hooks...They are 5/0 and are about the right size for the bait...they're 4" I think...I wouldn't recommend a smaller hook after rigging one to see how it faired
  12. Not used the ProLite personally but have heard some descent things. BPS also makes a smaller size Extreme for "Finesse" situations
  13. Crappie...the fish...Thats what I use my smaller ugly stick for...and bluegill....would be a good kids fishing rod though
  14. I'm looking into putting some braid on my President 6740/BPS Extreme combo. My question is, are the guides on the extreme tough enough to endure a smaller dia. braid...say 10-20 lb? If this has been discussed just point me in the right direction. thanx
  15. I know BPS has the "XPS" rods that they pair with extreme reels instore for the price of the reel...but it sounds like this is an E-Bay problem...which is usually a misinformtion situation...BPS does sell the LTDs but at a fraction of the price of the others....don't think it has anything to do with them
  16. Old picnic tables and such provide great cover
  17. ....what do you do to pay the bills, unless you fish to pay the bills? I am a Diagnostic Medical Sonographer.
  18. Were the rods you bought purple or orange? Did they have a front cork? May have been last years model but I doubt it with the LTD. The purple and orange rods are LTD and are available only in store, not online. Oranges are Vipers and can't remember the purple ones name. The usually are paired with a matching Pro Qualifier LTD reel of the same color for $99. Considerably lower quality than the standard Pro Qualifier, which I believe is an outstanding rod when purchased for $79 during the Spring Classic.
  19. are you throwing it in grass?
  20. Lately I've been saying "It's about time". Fishing has been too kind to me this year, I'm always behind in a count if on the board at all.
  21. It's good to see a young scout getting involved as it sounds you are. I am an eagle scout and did my project at my local lake as well. I helped with a section of walking trail that provides fishable access to an unaccessable area of the lake.
  22. I'm a member and enjoy the magazine quiet well. Day On The Lake is probably my favorite article, pretty neat show too. I also like what's it worth. BASS has done alot of great things for the sport and continue too today.
  23. Vonnegut is a great author. Hocus Pocus is a good read as well...most of his stuff is intersting
