  1. Just me and my dad inthe imediate family but alot of my cousins and uncles fish
  2. the way I understand it is that Red only defracts after certain depths in the water column, 3' or so, so putting it in a glass of water isn't allowing the color to defract out of the line...but I don't like red line so it doesn't matter to me
  3. Yeah...I would say shop around a bit and find a rod that is in your pirce range and good for your techniques. Personally, I buy rods that I can find deals on, and am not brand specific. My current rods are all different about half are BPS and all different models. I have a Kistler Magnesium, Carrot Stix Gold, BPS Extreme spinning, BPS Bionic Blade, BPS Pro Qualifier, BPS Crankin Stick, and the most I paid for any of them was 138 for the Carrot Stix Gold. There are alot of great deals on rods if you know where to look.
  4. don't get me wrong...they are good reels...just personally I couldn't buy 4 reels for 70 bucks when I could use tht money to buy somem patriarchs...if you like them, fish them....has nothing to do with anyone else but you....the seem like they will hold up.
  5. The Clunn reel is a a good reel, I don't think I would have bought 4 but the are descent reels.
  6. The Lightening rods are good rods but I would not buy a cherrywood...I had a 7'M spinning rod and snapped in half first time out while casting a 1/8oz tube. The BPS rods are also a good value
  7. Of the ones listed I would say either the citica or revo....the kvd reel is pretty much a Quantum Code and it's ok but not for 100. Outside of the suggestions I would take a look at the president and the BPS Pro Qualifier
  8. Great pics and interview with Clunn.
  9. Great pics...stuff you don't really see with media coverage. Look forward to seing the rest
  10. It is my understanding that Shimano opted not to participate under their own circumstances.
  11. I love my president but a supreme for the same price...that'd be hard for me to pass up
  12. I feel that the St. Croix would be lighter, BPS rods tend to increase in weight drastically with increased lengths and power, but a 7' M shouldn't be that bad
  13. I'll join in if it's still open
  14. I have a few of them from the 1.98 bin but the only one I have ever had any luck with was the big O
  15. Anyone use the Castaway Terry Scroggins signature rods....they're on sale at TW and was wondering your thoughts... More specifically the 7'6'' H flipping stick is what I had in mind
  16. I told you that >
  17. I bought a kistler this Christmas and used the review on tackle tour as part of m research, I also have a friend with the same rod that I bought and I fished with it a little. Before Dec. of '08 I had never owned a rod other than a BPS rod or a Berkley Lightning Rod. The only new reel I had owned was a Quantum Code, the rest were a BPS round Pro Qualifier and an old Browning Citori, both bought from a friend. Then I found a great deal on the Kistler Magnesiums on eBay and paid $89 which is half of the list price and only $10 more than I paid for my Pro Qualifier on sale. I also used their review of the Pflueger Patriarch to aid me in choosing a new reel which I also purchased on eBay for a fraction of the cost. So I am also a low budget angler but if you know where to look you can get high quality gear that's affordable. so in short I guess....no, I don't agree with you.
  18. Never used them or even heard of them but I think your money is better spent elsewhere
  19. I probably like the action of the red eye shad the best...I also like the traps and the xr50
  20. Well apparently it only causes cancer in California so just stay out of cali and you'll be fine yeah....just don't eat it or get it on your skin or breathe it in if you melt it down to make weights
  21. The RC 1.5 is a great bait but a shallow crank..not a wake bait...wake baits make a "V" bulge on top of the water and shouldn't run greater than 3'' deep. Lucky Craft does make an RC wake bait if that's what you mean... I normally fish wake baits during a topwater bite or topwater type situation. also fish them around and between standing timber and in skinny water. I like the Mann's Waker Elite and fish it often.
  22. My Curado E7 needed a little oil when I got it...definitely not the smoothest I have felt straight out of the box
