If it's micro guides you're interested in, I'd say take a look at the Quantum Smoke, very nice rod for the price...I just got one and really like it so far. I am a Carrot Stix fan so I'd say the new micro rod would be a good choice...I have three of the old golds and a new wild spinning rod...and I like the colors.
I've not used the Silver Thread Excalibur but have used the standard AN40 and liked it pretty well. I really like P-line, don't use CX much but fish with CXX and Floroclear and love both of them. I've used from 6-15lb floroclear without any problems and 8-20lb CXX. The best all around would be the Yo-Zuri Hybrid but I prefer FC and P-line.
I usually switch out any hooks that are bronze. I've had alot of trouble with bronze hooks rusting very easily so I usually put either owner stingers or VMC hooks on them. It's usually Strike King baits and sometimes bombers, although I really like the Tx3 rotating trebles, just wish they were black nickel.
at the moment you cant get a Sol on ebay for close to that. theyre getting hard to find.
I've not been in need of one so I haven't really checked around....I guess they would be getting harder to find though.....what a great reel...to bad it wasn't as appreciated as the Alphas
Fixed it, if you ever find a Core 50 for $150, I got dibs. ;D
:-[ ;D ;D : my mistake...I meant Curado...have no Idea where Core came from....If you DO find a Core for $150... by all means...BUY IT ...or PM me and I'll buy it ;D
For a reel I would either look at the Curado 50 or a Daiwa Sol. You can get either for around and under $150 on eBay.
I've never used a 7'ML trigger rod but I did just buy a 7'ML Carrot Stix Wild spinning rod and I believe they make it in a casting rod.
I've got over 20 combos and every single one of them does more than on technique except my deep crank rod. I fish mostly from the bank and usually carry 5 rods with me: 7'M spinning, 7'MH or 7'10''M Crankbait rod, and usually 6'6''MH, 7'MH, and 7'H casting rods. I like to vary which rods I take each outing.
If you have a Dicks nearby, take a look at the F&S Tesc Spec rods. I bought a 7'M last yer and was very impressed. I liked it better than the Vendetta I had.
I went to the BPS in Clarksville IN tonight to see Marty Stone and Edwin Evers. Before I even got to the fishing section I heard either "Where are the Strike King baits?" or " Where are those KVD baits?" atleast 5 times. I didn't buy any but I did buy some of the Xcalibur square bills.
Were you there for Charlie Hartleys demo. I'm debating going to see him tomorrow. I'd really like to but another 2hr+ trip just for his seminar seems alittle crazy....I guess I'll just have to spend $100+ to justify the drive :
I've only fished one LTA and didn't care for it, more the size than anything, 6'10"MH, handle was too short for me. I have 2 Savvys and 2 Powells and like the savvy just a bit better. Balance a tad better and feel slightly lighter. Either of the two are great rods and the Powell is a little cheaper.
I think you're right.
skeet won his classic by flipping a crazy legs chigger craw and a lucky craft spinnerbait
boyd duckett won his with a chiggercraw, and maybe something else, not sure
ike won his classic with a jog, and two types of worms.
My dad goes crappie fishing every chance he gets....Last weekend he caught 82 out of one tree in 6 hours....I wish I would have taken a picture of them.....none under 1.5lbs
