  1. I am going to Christopher Newport University next year and they have a team. I plan on fishing on it to!
  2. I started a club at my high school and we raised $400 by having a raffle at a local sportsman's show. We had a rod, pic, and membership donated to us and we raffled them off for $2 a ticket or $5 for three. It worked well and I would definitely recommend it.
  3. 6' 3" G-Loomis Bronzeback with a Abu Garcia Cardinal. One spool with 30lb braid and another with 10lb P-Line fluoro.
  4. We do. We have had hats, lures, shirts, and more donated to us for this event.
  5. We are having our first tournament for all high school students. Please note any suggestions on the overall running of this tournament. Thanks! 1st Annual Broad Run High School Fishing Club Fall Fishing Tournament Where: Alder, Beech and Cedar Lakes in Ashburn Village. When: The tournament will be held on Saturday, October 18th at 7:00 a.m. Registration will be at 6:30 a.m. This event will go on rain or shine. Who: All High School Students (adult fishermen will be walking around giving advice). Why: To have fun and become better at fishing. First place, second place, third place and lunker fish of the day will receive plaques. Additionally, there will be a raffle at the end for some great fishing gear. Rules and Regulations - This will be a paper fishing tournament. All members will be given a ruler to measure the fish. To measure the fish you must lay the fish across the ruler and measure from head to tail, with the mouth closed. Then you will write down the measurements of all the fish. Each person's top five fish will be added up to decide who the winner is. -Fish must be caught on artificial lures. NO LIVE BAIT! -Fish must be released after caught and measured. -You must stop fishing when the horn is blown. -Tournament director's decisions are final -All fishermen that are 16 years old or older MUST possess a valid VA fishing license. Schedule 6:30 a.m.: Register at the registration table by Cedar Lake 7:00 a.m.: Horn blows, and fishing begins on Cedar Lake 8:30 a.m.: Horn blows, and fishing stops on Cedar Lake. 8:45a.m.: Horn blows and fishing begins on Beech Lake. 10:15 a.m.: Horn blows, and fishing stops on Beech Lake. 10:30 a.m.: Horn Blows and fishing begins on Alder Lake 12:00 p.m.: Horn blows and fishing ends on Alder Lake. At this point, everyone must go to the registration table to turn in their measurements. While you eat some hot dogs and burgers, the scores will be tabulated and the winners will then be announced. Then the raffle will start. Directions The registration table will be in the backyard (21317 Comus Ct.) of our Vice President's house, Brett Rojas. The easiest place to park will be along Cheltenham Circle between Cedar and Beech Lake. If you are coming from Waxpool Rd., make a turn on to Ashburn Village Boulevard, and then make a left on to Cheltenham Rd. Follow this road (just past Felicity) until you see white picket fences. There will be a lake on both sides. The lake on the left is Cedar Lake which is where the registration table is going to be. If you are coming from Rt.7, make a turn onto Ashburn Village Boulevard. Then take a right on to the second Cheltenham entrance and follow the above directions. If you have any questions about the directions, tournament or the club in general, please contact me. 6. You could always mount it to the trolling motor or get a suction cup transducer mount if you do not want to drill into the hull.
  7. Thats awesome! I notice everyone puts the gear behind them. Is it easily accessible?
  8. In Virginia you have to have it registered if you have a trolling motor, because it makes it motorized. I would assume that the definition for motorized is the same in both states. I thought it was dumb rule too. I got a warning from a park ranger and I had to get it fixed before I could use it again, otherwise I would be given a ticket.
  9. After getting advice from a couple of different forums, and kayak review sites. It looks like I should be choosing between a redfish 12 and a tarpon 120. Thanks for the advice, and I can always use more on what kayak to choose. I am still gonna give it couple weeks of thought before I purchase one.
  10. Only the biggins'
  11. When putting carpet on wood, do you have a problem with water soaking into the carpet which is then sitting on the wood, therefore causing mold. Nice boat! I love it when people make changes themselves!
  12. Couple of my own and share a few with my dad. Build them all! Looking to buy first boat that I have nit built.
  13. I am looking to get my first sit on top kayak. I am looking at the 11' 6" 60lbs Pelican Castaway Kayak from Dicks sporting goods. It is on sale or $480. Does anybody know anything about this yak? Any suggestions for other yaks? What are things I should look for in a yak?
  14. Goin to BPS for the second time tis summer. Cannot wait! I am saving all of my money for the trip!
  15. I love the silver and blue rat-l-traps. They get through rocks and make a noise that seems to turn the fish on.
