  1. Went out to my buddy's pond yesterday to try out the Ragetail Shad and to see it work. I caught about 7 bass and probably missed about twice that number. I waited about 1 1/2 seconds to feel the weight of the fish on the strike before setting the the hook and still lost a few. My hookset isn't exactly the grandest either. Here is the equipment I was using hopefully someone can give me some tips to increase my hookup ratio. American Rodsmiths Apex Titanium 7ft medium heavy rod Sufix Elite 12lb test Gamakatsu 4/0 EWG Hook Quantum KV600cx Baitcasting reel
  2. Gotta go soft because as every young angler knows when you forget to close the the latch on the hard box and go to pick it up it spreads tackle across 4 counties. ;D ;D ;D
  3. Sufix elite 12lbs on Baitcasting Sufix Elie 8 and 10lb on my spinning gear Thinking of using 30lb Braid when I get my flippin stick for fliiping jigs and and tossin frogs over mats and pads
  4. I find 6 bucks a bag expensive seriously for plastic i know its a new design and such, but dang can't we get a break here? No kidding!!! The ole lady bought killed me when she found out I spent over $55.00 on only 10 bags of the rage tail shad and toads. Hell I'm gonna have to hide my receipts from now on. Just do what I do move the bags of tackle from your car to a different spot in the house periodically and get her something from victoria's secret to confuse her.
  5. My mistake, Academy has them on sale for 3.99 they normally sell for 4.89.
  6. He ain't lying, at the lake I fish at I've caught hybrids, Bass, white bass, channel cats, walleye and crappie on Berkley Gulp sometimes on a jighead and sometimes under a bobber.
  7. Thank you so much it would be much appreciated.
  8. Academy has them on sale right now for 4.99 a pack. I bought 10 packs of Shads, Craws and Toads. I'm gonna throw em this sunday and see how it turns out.
  9. Ok I'm very tempted leakproof or not. Who in Minnesota wants to do me a favor and pick me up 2 jars. I'll send the cash by paypal.
  10. Resealable, it's about time. There's nothing worse than having that jar shift in your tacklebag and having gulp juice spilled all over your stuff.
  11. I use gulp minnows as my anti-skunk bait at the lake I fish at. I normally use Sufix Elite as my line of choice with no leader. I usually rig the 4 inch minnow with a 1/4 ounce jig head. I've caught walleye, hybrids, bass, sand bass, channel cats and largemouth bass. I even fish the 2 1/2 inch model under a bobber for bluegill and crappie and it works well. As ways to improve i usually fish it with a slow retrieve at first and vary it if I get no bites. You never said how you normally rig yours.

  13. It was 9lbs. I don't have a boat it was caught shorefishing.
  14. 5inch Berkley jerk shad on a jig head, 4 black shad berkley gulp minnow or a silver black rapala floater minnow. My Pb was caught on the 4inch Berkley Gulp minnow on a 1/4 ounce jig head on an overcast day with a steady wind, while fishing the windblown shore.
  15. 34lb flathead caught while fishing for hyrids on a silver/black Sassy Shad
  16. I would use live sunfish or bullheads. They have worked real well for friends of mine who go after flatheads.
  17. 8 inch golden shiner caught from the same waters you're fishing.
  18. I'm still somewhat of a novice with baitcasting reels and fishing techniques for bass. I was wondering what techniques you would use these reels for. For example what reel would be better for flipping/pitching, swimbaits etc. 5.1:1 retrieve speed 6.2:1 retrieve speed 7.3:1 retrieve speed The last time i seriously fished for bass was as a teenager now I'm getting back into it I feel like Rip VanWinkle.
  19. I was just about to ask the same thing. I don't have a boat but was looking to fish a tournament or two and was wondering if there were any clubs within 100 miles of OKC.
  20. It works really well for me. I use the the 3inch and 4inch black shad minnows at my little fishing hole and I've caught everything from a 6lb walleye to a 2lb channel cat to a 14 inch crappie to a 5lb hybrid striped bass to a 2lb largemouth. I'm sold on it.
