  1. Shimano Compre 7ft MH
  2. I hardly ever cast overhead usually preferring sidearm or roll casting with a snap of the wrist. I find you usually better distance and control that way.
  3. I agree with the Palomar. Not only easy to tie but one of the best.
  4. That really is the best part, the release. When you put it all together and bring her in get your pics and watch her swim away, it's all worth it. Nice catch by the way.
  5. Oh wow, just wow. Why do they do this to people. I'm flabbergasted. Now I'm gonna have to get one. I was saving up for a Cumara 7'6" crankbait rod but that'll have to wait after seeing this.
  6. I have never personally said anything on this site site stinks but I have given an account of what has worked for me and what has not. I find that bashing anything gets personal and when you start to get personal you lose your objectivity and credibility. You also alienate those who use the gear you just bashed. I try to chime in only when I have a positive review to add or to state my preference. Ok I lied. I hate those Storm Wildeye Shad swim-baits. The pull left left or to the right but never straight. Don't believe me I'll send you what I got and you can see for yourself.
  7. Shimano Crucial CRC-X72H CRC-X72H, Line Weight: 15-30 lbs. mono/ 30-65 lbs. braid. Extra Fast Action. This rod is ideal for pitching worms and jigs in heavier cover with a lot of power to pull them out. Also great for fishing frogs over thick vegetation. This is my frog rod, little more cost than you specified but might wanna look into it. always better to go ahead and buy the rod you want than to get caught up in the upgrade cycle.
  8. I second the Shimano CTE200GT I have one and couldn't be happier.
  9. As long as you have bad credit and are always broke the baitmonkey might stay away from you.
  10. Welcome aboard Matt, nice to see another face from OK.
  11. Anyone here able to give me a review on these things. I'm tempted to give em a try. I like the finish and Cabelas has them on sale. Any feedback would be greatly appreciated. http://www.cabelas.com/cabelas/en/templates/product/standard-item.jsp?id=0064639123856a&navCount=6&podId=0064639&parentId=cat21436&masterpathid=&navAction=jump&cmCat=MainCatcat21404-cat21406-cat21436&catalogCode=OG&rid=&parentType=index&indexId=cat21436&hasJS=true
  12. Apologies if this has been posted before, but the bass looks pretty alive in this video. http://www.another site/docktalk.asp?id=6483
  13. I own 3 Compres's and love them. For their price point they are an excellent value.
  14. I like em both but these days my preferences have been on the round side. I have large hands so i really don't have a problem palming a round reel. It's mainly a matter of style preference and some weight consideration. The Calcutta series from Shimano are built to last, if you look into a round reel keep em in mind.

  16. Gotta go with the pure, simple lines of the Shimano TE 200GT. Says I'm all business but I look good doing it.
  17. If you wanna upgrade the Cardiff I'd get a Calcutta smooth, reliable and virtually bulletproof.
  18. Broken two, one in a car door and the other in the front door.
  19. A high dollar reel will not make you catch more fish but it will make the experience alot more enjoyable. Try and get the most reel for the money. We fish not because it economical but because it's enjoyable. So trying to shave pennies for for the sake of saving money will only shortchange you on the experience. That's what fishing is all about, the experience. This is coming from a fisherman whose first baitcaster was a Quantum Accurist, then a Quantum PT and now a Calcutta TE GT. It makes a difference.
  20. Do what I had to force myself to do, enjoy the blowup,by that I mean look at the bass explode watch on the frog but don't anything until you feel the weight of the fish. If you're like me it takes a little getting used to until you realize how many more fish you're starting to catch. Hope that helped.
  21. I have these Calcutta 200B Calcutta 200TE x 2 Calcutta 200TE GT Calcutta 200 x 2 Calcutta 100 Calcutta 400B I use them for everything from cranking to jigs to worms and spinnerbaits. The only thing I probably wouldn't use em for is flippin/pitching.
