  8. I feel your pain iceintheveins, hopefully someone will come to their senses. Here in Cali, Sen. Feinstein has authored a similar bill, the Western Water and American Food Security Act (HR 2898), which will direct various government agencies not later than January 1, 2017 to "remove, reduce, or control the effects of species, including largemouth, bass smallmouth bass, striped bass, crappy, bluegill, white and channel catfish, and brown bullheads". All this in the name of "protecting salmon" but in reality it's to allow for increased pumping of Delta water for the benefit of Centra Valley agribusiness and the Metropolitan Water District of Southern California. BTW, striped bass were once caught commercially in the SF Bay and carp are an invasive species but are exempt from the directive...
  9. Beautiful boat and good luck on the circuit!
  10. Trickworm or baby brush hog
  11. Very good looking rainbow trout, congratulations!
  12. Congradulations on cashing a check! first time out! Some one is always on 'em and good to hear it was you and your buddy
  13. Hang in there Jacob, as you're in the beginning of a very steep learning curve for which you'll be better for in the end. Everyone has had this experience be it in a tournament or fishing with a friend who may be better a one technique or another. And yes you are right it is a mental game. It might be water you may have never thought of fishing or weren't prepared to fish, tight/small casting windows, a boater who's a vacuum/picks things apart or power fishes with the trolling motor seemingly always engaged.... Jacob, 5 good bites every day and if it's a multi day tournament hopefully you're fishing on the final day. Much future success, JB
  14. Nice that it's now 7 rods as it was 5 rods. And like gulfcaptain mentioned, don't try to chase your boater's pattern. Fish to your strengths and what you have confidence fishing. Good luck
  15. Crankzilla, maybe go with the Roboworm Rebarb hooks. I use 2/0 or 3/0 on both casting and spinning rods, not that I can remember the last time I use a spinning rod dropshoting.
  16. Now that's a horny toad bite!

  21. Iectricbassman, as previously stated above just go fish and enjoy your time on the water. The conditions you mention on your home waters are typical of those experience by many around the country as more people enjoy fishing, and bass fishing in general. One day I fishing with a friend on his boat when he pulled up on a bank that had 4 boats on it. I mention the bank had been pounded all day and our chances of getting bit weren't good. My friend replied they didn't catch them all, and he proceeded to wack 'em dropshoting a baby brush hog to prove his point..... The fish are there, as evident by those fish carcasses which will benefit the ecosystem as they break down. Maybe a longer cast, a different lure, bait, area, or technique applied at a different depth (deeper or shallower) might be the ticket. Then again, sometimes they've got lockjaw.... 'Good luck and good fishing, JB
  22. No worries Jeff, had a 50lb thrust 24v Motorguide motor on an 18ft boat when I bought it. I soon replaced that motor with a 67lb Motorguide and it made BIG difference, especially in the delta river current. Boat actually maybe a little wake when spooled up! It wasn't to difficult of a DIY project Jeff if I remember correctly, and I have found YouTube to be very helpful when it comes to these kind of projects. Just swapped out the three station valve for my live wells with minimal difficulty....
  23. Great 8-10.5 pound Florida hawg MIbassin!
  24. Justbass11, you didn't state in your original post what pound thrust your current trolling motor is rated or the age/condition of the batteries. I'd just suggest going up a little in thrust if you're looking at buying a new trolling motor as you'll probably appreciate the added speed and maneuverability. And Happy Easter and good fishing Jeff
