With rain in the forecast there was a narrow window to get on the water. Air temperature was balmy 38 degrees when I hooked up the boat and headed for the Tract to do some fishing. Tide had been going out for about two hours, water temperature was 54 and change as I dropped the boat in the water.
I covered a lot of water junk fishing and the bite got better for numbers later in the day as the water warmed. However, my better fish came in the first half of the day. The 5.2lber absolutely crushed a square bill, and my biggest was a 6.8 which smoked a slow rolled spinnerbait. As I was fighting them, one of my the first thoughts was why did I leave the net at the house....
Good Fishing all, JB
Hello Trevor! Welcome to Bass Resource and the Forums, not to mention California as well! Sounds like you’re on the right track, however, I’m confident some of the So Cal guys on here will be able to help you with the lakes down there. I suggest posting your questions in the “Western Bass Fishing “ section of the Forums. Good luck and good fishing, JB
That was a written piece Nolan, which was a pleasure to read as it’s becoming a lost art. Congratulations on making the cut and gaining a berth in the championship. Wish you nothing but continued success, JB
Welcome Hei to Bass Resource and the Forums! As far as clubs you can go to the top of the page, click links and click clubs. There are a couple of clubs down in the South Bay which should help get you on the water, expand your knowledge on various techniques and bass fishing in general. Good luck and good fishing, JB
Today I decided to get out on the water and see if I could get bit. Dropped in at Franks Tract, water 51 and change, afternoon temperatures were supposed to hit the mid 60’s. In the distance you could easily see the snow this past weekends storm dumped on the Sierra’s. I threw reaction baits for most of the day, landing a couple including this skinny 5.8lb female on blades....
IMO 18RangerZ520L, layout #1 makes the fish look bigger, and layout #8 seems to make it longer. Your largemouth was beautiful and I am looking forward to seeing which layout you’ve chosen and the finished work of art. Good fishing, JB
X3- be it a lake, river, or the ocean at the movies, on tv, or just out driving those thoughts of what kind of fish, where are they setting up, what might they hit, what rod/rig/lure would I use and where would I start. I’ve got to chuckle at myself when this happens...
Good to hear you’re feeling better, not so much that meds were needed to get it done however. Good weather and a few nice fish always seems to help! Good luck out there
Whaaaat?! I’m sure it came as a surprise he didn’t want to follow in grandpa’s footsteps CC, and ya got to chuckle at what comes from the mouths of babes. It seems your grandson thought this through, even though at times going 10-8 wasn’t too bad either.
BTW, I hope you all had a nice birthday dinner cause as I type this we’re trying to figure the same thing out....
