  1. Hello @Jason.Domingo from Northern California! Welcome to Bass Resource and the Forums. Closest place to the City to fish for Northern strain LMB is Lake Merced. Otherwise, as I’m sure you’re well aware it’s gonna entail some driving....
  2. I’m interested to see your results @JacobPollitz if you decide to do it. Reason being I’ve got a couple of Loomis handles that are starting to show their age. And welcome to Bass Resource and the Forums!
  3. Happy Father’s Day! Speaking for myself it’s been an enjoyable weekend and I hope all the other dads are doing the same.
  4. Twice this guy missed my buzz bait, so I pitch a senko in there and he smoked it. When I got him to the boat, I discovered why he missed the buzz bait. His face was so mangled, these photos don’t do it justice. My hook is just visible in what’s left of his upper lip. I’m sure he’ll live to fight another day...
  5. @dgkasper58, those Katsuage outbarb hooks in my opinion are made with very light wire, and the outbarb design IS to protect the paint finish. I’ve noticed those hooks can become deformed or out of shape after a good battle or pulling the hooks from a well hooked fish. I try to “reform” the hook when this happens, sometimes unsuccessfully. And congrats BTW, 58 fish in 6 hours is one hell of a day...
  6. @pauldconyers, I appreciate your question. The Crucial rod series was discontinued and replaced by the current Curado line of rods. And I personally like the Crucial series for the techniques I want to use them.
  7. Thanks jbsoonersfan, I gotta tell ya it wasn’t easy.
  8. I’ll tie a loop knot to the lure eye or split ring on my topwater. Sometimes I’ll have a flour leader in play, otherwise straight braid.
  9. Happy to get these after scouring the internet! I really like these rods and I know they’ll pair well with my new Curados.
  10. @bassheel, sorry to hear about your rod and I apologize for the late post. Here is the Shimano Crucial warranty sticker from one of the rods I just received after scouring the internet. I’ve never been disappointed with Shimano’s warranty, even though you have to come up with some coin to get a new rod. The link @EllisJuan provided us is pretty helpful. Good fishing, JB
  11. @Daniel0801, the Compre should be just fine for how you intend to use it. And might I suggest dropshot (Bubba shot) as well. And BTW, welcome to Bass Resource and the Forums!
  12. Happy Birthday @MartinTheFisherman, for starters you have this summer to try and be in the right place, at the right time, to throw the right bait. Good luck in your quest and enjoy the adventures.
  13. Safe travels @th365thli and much success and good fishing in the future.
  14. Hello @BassNut, welcome back to Bass Resource and the Forums!
  15. Hello and congratulations @Nolan Hunter from Northern California! Welcome back to Bass Resource and the Forums!
  16. Do both ends of the spectrum catch fish @Reprsntdc, absolutely. As mentioned above by other BR members, one end of the price point will get the job done. As our equipment gradually gets better IMO we as fishermen become better with better equipment. I fish with the best equipment I can afford as most of us do, in my case I believe it helps me catch a few more fish and further enjoy my time out on the water. A rotary phone and the latest Android or IPhone all can make telephone calls....
  17. Every time I see this thread title I want to order a New York medium rare, with a loaded baked potato, the all you can eat salad bar, and a couple pieces of Texas toast. And THIS is after I already knowing this topic has absolutely NOTHING to do with a restaurant that serves seared bovine flesh.... just wanted to say thanks @TnRiver46 ?
  18. I finally used one of those “Round Tuits” I’ve been saving up and installed Carbontex drag washers in my two Curado 201DHSVs. The Carbontex are quite a noticeable difference from the burned up, OME washers.Had to do a little wet sanding on the main drive gear to remove some oxidation. It was instilled in me at a young age to “take care of your equipment and it’ll take care of you” so after some grease, oil and they’re close to good as new...
  19. The reel monkey, who is the lesser known older brother of the bait monkey, visited and provided me some early Christmas presents from Japan and Malaysia. You can see a couple the noticeable differences between the Curados, as the “K” model has a bigger gear housing and longer handle. I’m really looking forward to putting them to use...
  20. Walmart is another sporting goods source for charitable events.
  21. Congratulations @PAbasser927 on your new PB, well done sir!
  22. @wasabi_VA, if you’re using 10lb braid, that’s close to 4lb test mono and could be your problem. Old school solution would be to run a couple of loops of braid through the eye and with a good, solid knot and push it up against the gap. Then tie your knot on the opposite side of the secured loops. I experienced this with 20lb braid and some BPS hooks and this is how I solved my similar problem.
  23. Great sack of brown bass @A-Jay!! They’re probably thinking their jaws had just healed up from last year! Continued good fishing to you sir
  24. Thanks @BassFisher22 for your original post and everyone’s comments. I googled “Curado K vs I” and ended up here where I should have started in the first place! I have a few of the “I” models and was trying to acquire a couple more. I think of them as being the best rendition of the Curado since the “E” model. After scouring the globe in my quest to find two (2) more. I thought I had procured them a couple times, but my efforts met with negative results. This morning I received an email from the vendor of my latest attempt with good/bad news. The vendor apologized saying the “I” model was out of stock, but would offer me the same “K” at the same price. I did accept and after reading this thread am looking forward to trying out my new reels. Good fishing all, JB
  25. This was a very nice Easter present. I really like these reels as I try replace my OG Curados with them. I found this one @Kruger Farms outta Minnesota, and came already pre-spooled with my line of choice. Thanks again David G. for the great customer service.
